  1. I'm happy for Foltz. I wonder how Charlie Brown and Lucy would have done with a half a million dollar a year coach, that's all.
  2. Hip Hip! Great job Read! You have now justified your half a million dollar a year salary! Get that man a raise!
  3. Completely and totally underwhelmed. I was under the impression that just about anybody could coach this team to 9 wins, given the lackluster division we play in. I was not a fan of the hire at all, however, I thought that because of his experience, we might be a more fundamentally sound football team and that could even equate to a couple more W's. Damn, was I wrong. We lost to Illinois and Purdue in the same season. I'd say our outlook for the foreseeable is bleak. Here here!
  4. I would have agreed with this one month ago. But we've looked pretty decent these past three games. Well, except for some of the QB play we saw on Saturday. It seems like the team came together after the debacle that was the Purdue game. I agree with you that we became a little more competitive. But I'm referring to the decisions made over the entire season that were much deeper than wins and losses in his first year.
  5. As an optimist from the news of the hire and up until several weeks into the season, I was on board. Albeit I wasn't a fan of his decision to bring the majority of his previous staff. After watching every game and every play, seeing the entire body of work throughout the season, It's apparent to me that we've gone backwards. I don't like any of the decisions Riley made this year as the Head Coach. He had his opportunities and blew them all IMO. I like the guy, I like the style of football but I'm afraid he's going to have to catch lightning in a bottle to make it past another year.
  6. He's not a good fit for the offense that Riley/Langs runs, that's the extent of it. He's the best they've got and they have to make due. That's the extent of it. We are all certainly entitled to our opinion.
  7. Armstrong is not the answer and never will be with this offense. He doesn't have the fundamentals nor the field presence and patience to be a good passer, which is what this offense requires. To develop the motor skills of proper qb'ing mechanics you typically start young as in any other sport. To break bad habit's and create new one's can take years. He should have played a lot less this year then he did and it's too bad. That's another knock on this coaching staff IMO.
  8. Actually it was 3 picks, unless you're blaming Fyfe on Hovey having the ball ripped out of his hands along the sidelines. Sure, statistically it's on Fyfe but did you see that play? Did any of you see that play? All I'm saying is that for his first start he played decently. He completed 29 passes, 30 if Hovey holds onto the ball. He checked down, he hit open receivers, he threw with touch, he didn't throw it into double coverage where receivers had to make circus catches and he has good mechanics. I don't know if the game plan was for him to throw 48 times, I would hope it wasn't. But when you get 55 points hung on you....Bottom line IMO, he's serviceable. I have my own theory on why TA played nearly every snap of damn near every game but I'm not going there, this thread is tiring enough. In fact it's laughable.
  9. No one keeps track of the baller plays the Reilly and Westy have made on certain picks either. It's a message board where we all have opinions. When you are contending for the national lead in INTs, it seems as appropriate of a topic as the 15 fire Riley threads. It's funny how so few notice that.
  10. Again, go back and watch the Purdue game. Why? To see our defense suck? To see Fyfe STRUGGLE AGAINST FREAKING PURDUE??????? You are going to convince nobody. Drop it. Seriously, where are these people coming from? Obviously not convincing you. And to be perfectly frank I'm not trying to convince anyone, I'm simply making a statement regarding my own opinion.
  11. And Fyfe don't. Whatever.
  12. Again, go back and watch the Purdue game.
  13. I don't give a sh#t about D-2, FCS, 4 star, 5 star or a walk on. You either got "it" or you don't. You can't tell me that some rating system knows what's in an 18 yo's genes. It's all a bunch of garbage. Those of you that believe that crap, just follow the money trail.
  14. So then what you are saying is that Riley (an accomplished QB coach and HC) AND Langs (accomplished OC and coached Eli Manning to his best season ever) are both so bad at seeing talent that they have not noticed that Fyfe is the real dea. Correct? You are getting closer!
  15. How about we wait until POB gets here in January and see how the career of a real passing Qb goes. TA is just a run and chuck it qb. Manion had just 8 INT's last year under Riley. Manion had an AY/A (a function of yds, TDs, and ints) that year of 6.9 yds Tommy this year had an AY/A of 6.7 and 7.5 the year prior Baker Mayfield was at 10.9 as a comparison Stats like these are created to get a better overall picture. While turnovers are generally considered bad, there is actually a thing as too few interceptions. QBs with a relatively low interception rate are may not be taking enough chances to give their team the best opportunity to succeed. Interceptions should be balanced with the other side of the risk equation, which is what stats like average yards per attempt try to do. interesting take, but Mayfield has much better talent around him to make those plays. This must be Armstrong's mindset as well.
  16. Go back and watch the game teachervd. Lot of check downs, lot of throwing to one on one coverage etc. Yes he had some mishaps however, throwing him in there and game planning 55 passes....He really didn't look so bad.
  17. Did you watch the game against Purdue?
  18. Ryker Fyfe is the answer. Armstrong is not.
  19. He had 2 or 3 others that should have been intercepted also. So did Tommy vs Iowa. That would have made 6 or 7 on the day. Well yeah but let's be fair how many of those are his receivers faults? So now you're questioning your own comments?
  20. Lol. It's like a shark tank around here. Do yourselves a favor... go watch the re-run of Fyfe in the Purdue game. Just keep in mind our D gave up 55. For all you "he's a walk-on peeps", we've had plenty of walk-on players do incredible things.
  21. Get him ready and play him, in a bowl, if we are so fortunate. Coach him up through Spring ball, let him lead the way into Fall camp.
  22. I think Riley and Co. fell on their sword for the progrum this year. Better times ahead!

I hope they didn't swallow their pride to try and win over guys...

I know better times are ahead.

  23. More turnovers More flags (maybe) More losses 1-5 in division so what is your point but posting jibberish? More TO's than last year. (Even when we had 35 TO's in 2012, our margin was -12 vs -13 now) Incredibly penalized this year. (88 this year) Losing record- 1st home opener loss in over 30 years (poor clock management), 1st home losing season EVER, worst November ever, 1-5 in our division, a loss to Purdue (their first B1G win in 3 years IIRC) I don't think Riley will be fired. My question for you, are you defending not firing him or do you think he is a good coach. Defending not firing I can understand. I don't necessarily agree, but defending him as a good coach is crazy IMO.... Given his history as a coach and the first year here. He and his staff are good coaches and very good recruiters. Got 2 more commits today. Our punter of the future and a safety from Florida. Sweet. We can punt on 2nd down! And our new safety will lock down the middle.
  24. I think someone lost some money? That said, I wouldn't bet a nickle on this dude and thank God I didn't.
