  1. If you read his season recap, you almost feel sorry for the kid. He never had a chance to get into a rhythym anywhere. Had a mediocre game against Iowa State but so did the rest of the team. Not to mention he hadn't played in over a month. He had one dominant possession against K-State that puts Martinez's day into perspective a little more. He played well against Colorado. Early in the season he had a rough time holding onto the ball which is why many on this board probably have so many doubts. Take away those 4-5 fumbles early in the season and you can't really complain with his play. I think this is somewhat of a crap thing. The handcuffs were on Cody so hard it hurt my wrists on the hillside. Between Wats keeping the leash tight and the phobia to throw into the win, Cody did exactly what he needed to do and was asked to. And did it with a smooshed up melon to boot.
  2. Pretty sure we quit recruiting him after he committed then decommitted within a few days of each other. I don't think it was our loss, I'm pretty positive we moved on and weren't recruiting him anymore. Actually it was quite the opposite. Ron Brown recruited him pretty hard after the decommitment. Fairly certain Bo even stopped by to see him. We needed a TE and after the kid from Texas went elsewhere, the pusk back on Bryant was there. It just wasn't in the cards.
  3. Should have signed that deal with the devil and got Huggins when he was out there.
  4. Fedor got assaulted in that 2nd round last night. But damn Silva is just one large MOFO. I knew he was in big trouble when he got taken down. Fedor did the right thing IHO when he said no to Dana. Look at Strikeforces heavyweight division now, it is loaded and way deeper than UFC. Arlovski, as much as it pains me to say cause I have the images of the wild man in my head, probably needs to shut it down. Even Fedor admitted it was probably time. Hell he could drop down to light heavyweight and own. He would probably even fit in there better. That whole side of the bracket was loaded. I think Sergei Kharitonov may be the guy to watch
  5. Moses containted himself. A guy of that talent should have had more than 8 shots. He was really trying to get others involved(an asset, being a team guy) but there should have been a point where he should have just put the Cowboys on his back and carried them. Almeida was to slow to guard him and Diaz too weak. He could have went for 30 easily. The big men were pretty much space and minute eaters in the 2nd half. Jeter, McCray, Walker,Crake and Ubel all played great after the half. Good win, it will help with conference tourney seeding, but still a TON of work to be done to even be sniffing the big dance.
  6. Caleb Walker playing great tonight after a no show down in Waco. Same with Drake. Good to see the role players being productive at home. Now if NU can get that on the road.
  7. Doc should seriously look at coming out with the zone this half. As I said NU has NO ONE that matches up with Moses. He should have at least 20 but he was on the bench an overly long time(and not in foul trouble) and is really trying to get his teammates involved. I don't know how long this attitude will last, he knows he can get his whenever he wants. Offensively Jeter has been the rock Nu leans on as usual. Hopefully Toney's late score gets him going because right now he is playing like Mr. Hyde. And I don't even know why Gallegos even triesanymore. The kid looks asif he has digressed back to being a sophomore in high school.
  8. NU has no one to matchup with Moses. He could own the BOB tonight. Already with 10.
  9. I will be shocked if NU does not run some zone tonight. There are some bad man to man matchups with OSU.
  10. Bobby Knight lights up a cigar and cracks open a PBr to celebrate still being the last team to run the table undefeated in basketball

That's like, half FaF, half hipster.

  11. This game is very winable and more or less a must if this team wants to finish in the upper part of the league. The Pokies come in actually a worse 3 point shooting team than NU, could be futility from beyond the arc today. Of course that may mean the Pokes are going to go straight Ray Allen tonight and be lights out. Just don't be in a hurry to leave Keiton Page he is their best shooter. The Pokes also would love to live at the free throw line. Let's hope NU's gets itself in better defensive positioning today unlike the other night or there could be another Baylor repeat. And for the love of all things Doc, know where Moses is all game. He can hurt you in a lot of ways. He maybe the best player in the league that no one talks about. Other than that it is the same old dance. Don't give up a ton of second chance points, limit the turnovers, hit some outside shots, and a new one PICK UP THE AGGRESSION. Hoping for the best, we'll see.
  12. Johnny did a good REMAKE. I for one am more of the original kind of guy.
  13. I don't care what a lot of folks say about it, but Eastern Washington's red outlined with the black looks pretty badass. Reminds meof the fields I used to create on NCAA Football back in the college days. And it beats the crap out of Boise's
  14. Other than Tariq Allen what is this connection that I am missing or overlooking? On thing Els can bring to the table is someone who can match Bo's attitude, the guy can be a straight ahole as well, so I like that just not Ross. He did find Marc Boerigter(SP?) of KC Chiefs fame. Still say Coleman was the miss. aspeedlin is right about him. Well known and respected in the Jersey area. But oh well. That is why we sit on computers and Bo Knows Football(yes my first Bo Jackson reference ever since the hire, I seriously want to +1 myself for waiting so long)
  15. Doc will be around long enough to recruit with the new facilities and arena no matter how much the mumur from the few Husker fans that are out there screaming for his head. Secondly Doc has gotten himself into this position by using such a strong influx of JUCO kids. The best thing about this newest recruiting class is they are all HS kids that can build continuity in the program. Half of these JUCOs have been huge busts, even with the success of some(ie Jeter) the JUCO mess has just compounded his problems with numbers issues and chemistry. I like Doc and think he starting to realize what he needs to do to build a semi competitive program in a state that produces little D1 talent. Landing either Gessell or the kid up in Central is a must IMO. Until then it is what it is.....and that is a shame.
  16. My thoughts on last night, another so close but no where near game on the road. It was nice to see Toney heat it up last night. Many times with Doc's roulette rotations he was the ONLY viable scoring threat in the game. The thing I hate is that in some of those lineups Toney becomes a bad matchup for NU on defense. He is put in some very bad situations and it leads to so much of his foul troubles. Secondly it was pretty disturbing at the end of the game to see this team lose track of the one scoring threat you had to say on. Lace Dunn is a hell of a ball player and will get his, but you DO NOT leave him to double a big at the top of the key and you DO NOT give that kind of talent the baseline late in the game(granted it was a hell of a reverse layup). He probably would have gotten to the foul line, but these are the supposed principls that Doc supposedly preaches time and time again. A mental lapse that causes more heartbreak, go figure. Finally the foul situation. I have no problem with it for this reason. An aggressive offensive team will attack the hoop and more likely than not get contact and get calls. The softness of NU's bigs let Baylor get any position they wanted in the paint and thus got themselves in poor positioning. The lack of athleticism in the bigs on D also allows them to continually to get beat. A team that pushes the pace will get the calls more often than not than the team who's offense is based off the four corners stall. The thing that did impress me last night was NU's FT shooting. Another game at or over 80% at the line. Just a couple years ago this squad could hit 60%. Maybe a bugaboo cured. Now step up the agressiveness and maybe the 80% doesn't get cancelled out by the other team making more than you shoot.
  17. That was all McCray, but piss poor spacing on the break
  18. The two stats that will own this night are fouls and free throw attempts. There is your deciding factor potentially.
  19. Now Jeter with four fouls. Big trouble Miss checkout on the free throw leads to a second chance and they make NU pay. Big suprise
  20. Let's hope foul number 5 doesnt come quickly here
  21. It is a pipedream that someone threw out there. Considering he did play here, is a RB coach and is a HELL of a recruiter it would be great. But it isn't gonna happen, so not much to see here. Probably would fall under the "well he played here, he owes NU" arguement for some.
  22. Tough road game tonight for the scarlet and cream. Not thinking this one will be fun to watch, but am all for being proved wrong. As for the keys, same story different chapter. Defensive rebounding, shooting, and starting quickly It is probably gonna be worse than usual because the Bears pretty much stay in a zone, so this one could be a great time to improve on that 315th ranked shooting beyond the arch.Hey at least they are better than Boomer or the Pokes can't remember who is worse, me thinks Boomer. And converse...
