  1. Huh?? I though we signed all our rights over to to the Big Ten? not yet, until they get TW situated. We just can't have our own network. It's my understanding we signed our rights over to the Big10, but the Big10 hasn't yet signed them over to the Big Ten Network - which leaves the option open for the conference to pay-per-view them and bipass the agreement BTN has w/ cable companies. Remember, BTN and B1G are different entities. From my understanding driect tv has signed the contract with BIG and that we will get the three games even if time warner doesnt get a deal done. thats what MR. Jim Deleny said. Regardless of who has the rights though, if they decide to go pay-per-view w/ them, it doesn't matter if you have BTN or not, you won't get to see those 3 home games w/out getting them via pay-per-view, they wouldn't pay-per-view ONLY for the Lincoln area where they might get 10,000 tv sets - so it's essentially the same as pre-B1G and will have Texas giggling like schoolgirls.
  2. all i can say is that barny needs to show he can turn this line around this year we will see if all the help they hired will do any good. As far as his sons go for getting schollys we dont know all the logistics behind this but they very well have earn them i dont see bo "wasting" schollys if they werent talented enough to get them. lets see how they play out. we dont need to bash his kids for his mistakes on the staff.
  3. I dont see that happing but i see your point lol. i can see the writing on the wall now with LED lights in the helment and on the jersys and pants wow even the shoes lol.
  4. If your going to mention anything about Nike, I would be saying "atleast they didn't screw up the whole uniform like Nike did". +1 bro
  5. I like them both they are awesome. Can someone find out if the big ten approved them so they dont cost us 15 yards?
  6. I get it on channle 610 on direct tv and it was awesome to see rudd at #9
  7. That was an awesome read. Now I truely understand why the bcs is in place i never thought about the student-athlete and how much the bowls mean for them to grow as players and as people. I love the last answer he seems like a very humble person and i couldnt imagine losing a child like that he is a strong man and he is doing a better job then i would have been if i lost my child. Great read.
  8. Thanks for coming back to the board its nice to have other fans around to make the talk more intersting. At frist i thought it was odd that we didnt have a name for our student section but the more i think about it the more i lean torwards liking not having one because of all the baggege it comes with. it nice to be in the big ten because we nebraska fans get to learn more about what this conf does and the more i read about it the more i like the fit and you better be ready come Oct 8 because its going to be a wild one.
  9. It's hard to say. The easy answer is that everybody loves a winner, but we weren't winners in 1962 when our sellout streak started. I'm sure the success of Devaney and Osborne over three decades greatly aided the current situation, though. I think football appeals on a broad level to the folks who built this state. When Lewis and Clark came through here they called this area "The Great American Desert." It's a tough place to live – too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, barely any decent spring or fall, the soil is clay and difficult to make produce, there were (at the time) very few trees, and in general life was hard. My grandparents were poor as dirt, and I'm betting most everyone here has similar stories from their grandparents. That toughness is ingrained in the older generations from which us latter-day folks take our cues, and football is a good reflection of that culture. Probably if we were a colder-climate state we'd have embraced hockey more than we do (but hockey is rapidly gaining ground here, too). There's also the lack of population, which means no other competing sports. Contrast Nebraska with Missouri and Missouri has a better climate, more scenery, a much larger population, way more things to do, which probably leads to more distractions and less focus on your flagship school. I agree with this
  10. What baggage does Nebraska bring? A program likely falling under severe NCAA penalties? A program reeling from four years of THE WRONG coach, not to mention their own NCAA sanctions? Those are the Big Ten's two flagship programs, Ohio State and Michigan. Penn State's last ten years have been marginally better than Nebraska's, and that's during two major coaching upheavals over here. Wiscy has flirted with success but has yet to break through, Iowa is about the same, and the remainder of the Big Ten has been mediocre - nothing you wouldn't see in any other conference. Nebraska doesn't walk into the Big Ten taking a back seat to anyone. We'll be respectful of the conference and the fans, but if anyone thinks we're coming in as something other than a top program, they're sorely mistaken. this +1. ++1
  11. What the hell are you even talking about? Seriously. You don't make sense, and you're all over the place in trying to throw dirt. Nebraska was talking about expansion before the Big 10. We'll continue to recruit the way we have. As for the rules the Big 10 self imposes.... well, 2 of the flagship programs are going to be on probation in a matter of months. Doesn't sound like there's much "self imposing" going on there. And the AAU thing is a joke. Nebraska has less baggage then tOSU and tOSU has been in the big ten since god knows how long. I have only fallowed nebraska since 03 (cuz half my family is colorado fans and i really didnt know what a good college football team was and now i know.) All i am saying is that Nebraska is not in the news (bad news)and we seem like we are on the stright and narrow most of the time and why is say most of the time is because i dont know Nebraska history that much but i am learning as i go.
  12. It's not irrelevant but it does help balance things out. Penn State offered both, which is why they were a slam dunk and Nebraska was not. your saying this like nebraska didnt get in at all. This is huge for the big ten and nebraska is a slam dunk for any conf hell neb would of gotten in earlier if the swc stayed together back in 1994
  13. Don't kid yourself. Nebraska was a huge "get" for the Big Ten. Delany said that nebraska would of gotten in even if it was not a aau member it just would of taken a little longer for the vote
  14. It would be cool to know all the details of the whole thing and see all the convos that took place and what was said the whole time.
  15. So tough. . . please Were Nebraska we don't need to name our student section. . . blah blah blah. Try having some fun goddamn right It would be cool though to have the students be known for something other then the greatest fans in college football
  16. I thought this was a good read just want to every ones take on this. Sorry if already posted My link
  17. I just think that it would be awesome if we had a name and the tv commintators said that name it would have some exposer for the students and the Univeristy
  18. Agree with you here buddy that name works for me.
  19. I was reading on the big ten blog on espn today and they had a part about student section nick names for football and basketball. I was wondering why NU student havent made a name for their section? they gave examples and i liked the childern of the corn. I just wanted everyones take on this topic. You have to scroll down to the "Name Game: Big Ten Student sections" My link

  21. Mel Kiper has Crick listed #22. He seems to be a mid-to-late 1st round projection on various mock draft boards so far. They are saying he had a "down" year last year given that he was in the shadow of suh but i am sure he will be better this year. I hope that injury he had in the spring wont hinder him this fall
  22. I expect crick to climb as soon as the season starts but not bad i hope that thier stock rises as the season wears on
