  1. Yea - he is a super nice guy. I've known him for years...mainly through my wife who graduated with him and through my old "band" days. My band played with his several times back in "the day". Politics are new to him I believe...but I think he'd do OK with some seasoning. We'll see!
  2. Can see it all here: http://www.lindstromforcongress.com/default.aspx He lettered in 2003.
  3. Turf Toe is bad: http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/turf-toe-symptoms-causes-and-treatments
  4. I was at this game too....and was one of the 50,000. Interesting side note....this was the game used in the Jim Carrey film "Yes Man".....At least there was something to cheer about!
  5. I go because it's an affordable way to take my kids (4 and 1.5) to a game since they usually want to bolt by halftime anyhow (at least my 4 year old has been that way every year.....didn't take the newbie last year).
  6. For the guy being a complete legend in NE...it continues to amaze me how many people on this board don't know how to spell OSBORNE!!!!!!! -Sorry-
  7. Tmart, Heard & Green will be one damn fast backfield. That's for sure. I don't know if it'll be the fastest in the nation but if not it's gotta be very, very close. don't forget..bell, abdullah, baptiste, reed who is prob the fastest TE. ok lets make it a little less bold, Easily the fastest team in the big ten. duh right and jamal turner. and if L. Ward can get some time at the H back. idk, either way we will be dynamic I completely agree with this portion of the thread......no holds barred!
  8. I'm not sure how many times I've said on here TM will win the Heisman at NU....some year. Maybe not next...but some year. If he doesn't....he'll be shafted out of it.
  9. Rex does not have a lot of sensational highlight plays, mostly because he lacks top-end speed. Having said that, Rex may get pub in the same way that Toby Gerhart did--by just being a brutal, consistent runner. Rex will get some additional benefit for the fact that he can run the Rexcat and throw for a few scores. All in all, I don't think it's ridiculous to believe that he can push for the Heisman either this year or the next one. Not to mention that he will benefit from the fact that there are other play-makers on the team. Assuming as I must that Martinez will remain the starting QB, teams are going to have to account for both players. And with Reed, Kinnie, and Bell as potential receiving threats, teams can't afford to just load the box and play the run. I predict that Burkhead will finish with at least 1,200 yards rushing and 11 TDs this season. He will have another 300 yards and 2 TDs receiving, and 3 TDs passing, for a total of ~1,500 all-purpose yards and 16 TDs. It may not be enough to win the Heisman considering guys like Boise State's QB, Andrew Luck, Denard Robinson, and the RB from South Carolina, but he'll probably be in the conversation. Thats what teams did towards the end of the year and seem to work in their favor. 1500 all purpose yards is maybe enough for all conference, thats about it. Reed and Kinnie maybe potential offensive playmakers but its not a given who gonna be throwing those guys the ball the yet. Bell hasnt even seen time in a game yet, so I dont know he would be considered a potential playmaker. Lets wait till he sees the field, atleast before we put playmaker next to his name. Of course you'll never agree but for the heck of it there are four major reasons that just could take the Debbie Downer cloud off your head..... 1. a new OC 2. a new QB couch 3. a healthy Tmart (yeah, I know....our best qb & leader is one of the freshmen who hasn't played a down yet) 4. a new WR coach Who knows? You might even enjoy watching NU crush Big10 teams into the dust. And . . . bshirt for the tip in. Thanks, bud. A new OC, a new QB coach are reasons NU wont crush the Ohio State, the Wisconsins of the BigTen. Im not being a Debbie Downer, I just think NU is atleast 2 years away from competing in the BigTen. Our offensive has been the laughing stock of college football the last 2 years. Other than a new OC and position coaches, I have no reason to believe this year wont be any different. History tends to repeat itself. Let the team atleast play some conference games before we get all excited about how good the offense really is. Plus I dont think Tmart is gonna be able to go the whole year without getting injured. I think alittle too much kool aid is being drank around here. Respectfully, I think you are underestimating (1) Watson and Gilmore's negative effect on our offense, and (2) how quickly Beck will be able to turn this ship around to at least some degree. I agree that we won't realize the full benefit of Beck's changes until Year 2, but there will be a significant improvement this seasons, nonetheless. Just as Bo didn't get us to be a top defense until 2009, we still made dramatic improvement in 2008. Yes, Watson and Gilmore were big negative effects on the offense. But now everybody seems to think everything is gonna be perfect now that beck is running the show on offense. We may show some improvement this next year and by the end of the year have an identity of what exactly they want to on offense. Dont expect this offense to improve as much as the defense did between 2007 and 2008. A jump of about 60 some spots in total defense, that is just unrealistic. The next year was extremely better. We should expect the same with the offense. If not give Beck and Co. alittle more time to get this right. We are still atleast 2 years away from dominating BigTen defenses. Much like the Callahan era, watson and gilmore didnt screw this up overnight. Thus it wont be fixed overnight. I think laughing stock is a bit extreme! We had some HORRID moments...no doubt...but far from the worst and flashes of awesomeness...... I've said it in many posts...a few tweaks here and there.....and TM is the Heisman winner. The tweaks may have been made correctly - time will tell. Laughing stock, NU was not tho...just bad at the wrong times.
  10. I know I don't. It took me a good 15 minutes to type up that first post, bouncing between Rivals and Scout to find 40 times. Some guys' times aren't listed on Rivals, some aren't listed on Scout, and I'd hate to have to do that for eleven more teams. Not sure why I'm even posting this.....but didn't I see a post, knapplc, several days/weeks ago that you were done with this board?
  11. Robinson is about as much a threat to throw as Rex. Totally disagree....Robinson is actually quite accurate... Plus - switch the guys to each others teams....and I think it's a no brainer that Pryor fails at MI...not sure if Robinson would do much better at OSU - but Pryor would fall f MHO only.
  12. I was getting ready to draw up a very similar post to all your comments......but I won't even waste my time because you nailed it. Beck as OC has seemed like a no brainer on here to some and a question mark to the rest....no he's in and everyone is mega-stoked. I'll be 7 bucks we'll be here in November arguing over something he's done wrong....and Barney and John and Rich, etc, etc.
  13. I'm so tired of reading the same old post over and over and over and over again.....
  14. My least favorite Bo-ism. DO NOT LIKE. And in reality there isn't much of a point to it. I know everyone says he's bad with the media. They say it's his right as the coach. They say the media are compariable to that nasty stuff that builds up between your toes. But he honestly goes out of his way to be "BO" with the media. Talk about honesty, loyalty, trustworthy and all those other boy scout characteristics that Bo preaches...he doesn't display any of them when it comes to the media, and ultimately to the fans, since that's how we get our feed during the week. Just once this year I would have liked him to say "Martinez certainly isn't 100% and it's impacting our offensive strategy and production, but Lee isn't ready to go either so Green is certainly seeing so more snaps and will be ready at gametime if Martinez can't go." Instead he says "Martinez is improving and it will be a gametime decision".
  15. TM will be a legend at NU and a SERIOUS Heisman contender........if not next year - the next.
  16. I really hate that almost every topic gets changed into "we need a new OC or we need a new QB" thread. I am not "singling" you out, becuase I am guilty as charged (see above posts)... I agree with you Hunter.... I truly think some of the problem is the fact that our offensvie coaches are not on the same page all of the time. The guys on USC touched on this today. It is like we have an O-line coach who is "pretty good" at coaching a power running game. He has success as our O-line coach under Solich... but, with an OC that is constantly changing the identity of the offense, it throws EVERYONE and EVERYTHING for a loop. Someone needs to decide WHAT kind of offensive team we want to be. If is isn't a power team, then Cotton might as well be gone. If it is a power team, then let's act like it. It is like Watson tries to adapt an offense around his skill people....leaving the OL and WR hanging out to dry as their assignments change yearly. * That is HS football to some extent. At HS, you don't recruit (unless private), so you play the hand you are dealt. At division 1, you develop your identity, the RECRUIT guys to fit your style, not the opposite. *** Sorry to HotGrill for getting off topic. I hope your Koolaid (and RUM) are right. Hey - no apology needed! If the staff is indeed buckled down and working on making improvements where needed and changes where necessary - there is no need to change up the face and the success will come. All of those guys are smart enough to figure it out - Watson included. Hell - Barney too. I cringe when they say it about themselves - but they "didn't get dumb overnight"..... Leadership, active collaboration and cooperation at this point are far more important than changing a name or a face...I really believe that. Even with the mass quantities of Rum and Kool-aid - I don't think the OP is that far out of the question....neither is TM as a future Husker legacy....and Heisman winner or serious contender at the least.......
  17. yea - that is never out of the question for me!!!!
  18. Ah...man...now why you gotta go all "reality" and stuff on us.... Haha - yea - you are probably much more accurate than I....but I'm standing by my prediction and hopefully can pull it back up in Dec 2011!!!
  19. I agree with pretty much everything you are saying here.....I think those 2 guys will be missed no doubt - but you bring up great points about the 3LBs. It's pretty amazing that we went into last seasons prep with talks about how awesome SF will be....then he got hurt and David was amazing. I hope the 2 on the field at the same time is half as good as it sounds.
  20. Hey ireieboy8 - where did this come from? I want to read it.
  21. I was trying to get at that in my Bold Predictions post....I don't think TM is leaving the helm anytime soon.... In fact - I personally believe he's going to be an all time great.
