  1. I have made my opinion on this site regarding Coach Callahan very clear and after the bowl game it hasn't changed. I know he will be back next year...but I am not the only person on this site to suggest he be fired. Most people have responded by saying that if we fired Callahan we would have to rebuild again. Why? I don't have a problem with the WCO, just the coach. Aren't there other coaches out there who could coach the same style offense. If I remember when Notre Dame hired Charlie Weiss he was left a number of players that fit into his system. If this system is as popular as they say it is, then there has to be someone out there who could coach it. Just Wondering!!!
  2. I wish I could have been at the game...I now live in California, and haven't made a game in Lincoln in over 10 years...I'm sure the jumbotron helped make the correct call. The announcers on the TV did not agree with the reversal saying he held onto the ball long enough. The bottom line didn't allow the TV audience to see how many feet the receiver got down. By the way how much money would it cost to buy a jumbotron like that.
  3. How stupid is the Colorado Head Coach. Our back-up Quarterback was lined up to kick a field goal, and he doesn't call time out. Shouldn't that have been a sign something different was about to happen. I believe I counted three trick plays in the game...when will they learn.
  4. I love the bottom line...scoring updates all day is awesome. However during the Colorado game I noticed when they were showing re-plays they would not take the bottom line off. This made it very difficult to see the replay...especially on the Colorado pass that got reversed. I couldn't see the whole picture clearly. Did anyone else notice this or have issues with this.
  5. I have to admit on paper Nebraska v. Texas on paper is OK. But we have 3 defeats and Texas will have at least 2 (that is a quiet way of predicting a Huskers win over Colorado and possibly an A & M win over Texas) If I were the Big 12, I think I would be thinking..."Maybe not the best teams record wise, but the two schools always travel well.
  6. I'm really excited about what I am reading regarding all these quarterbacks. I have one question...is there really a need for so many on the team. Is this an issue with the depth chart in the next 2-3 years. Are the coaches concerned about some of the QBacks. Does anyone know why we have landed so many. I am counting 3-4 new ones coming in.
  7. MOVED TO OFFENDING POSTS THREAD FOR PERSONAL ATTACKS. AR HUSKER FAN
  8. For the past couple of seasons, I have bashed and trashed our choice of a coach. And everyone has told me I was wrong...this is the guy that will lead us back to the top of the college football world. Well after a 21-6 4th Quarter I now realize I was wrong about Coach. So to everyone on this site who ever told me I was wrong about my thoughts concerning Coach C, I was wrong, I'm sorry for not believing. I now realize that in 10-12 years Nebraska Football will be back at the top...not with a goal to win National Championships, but getting to the Big 12 title game. Thanks for setting me straight. Go Big Red and Coach C, take us to the Promised Land.
  9. I don't want to look at ways KU might win...how about looking at ways NU WILL win
  10. How can you improve the best Husker site on the World-Wide Web.
  11. Lord knows I don't like Callahan, and the USC game didn't help. I have said I was happy with how the team played just not the coaching. It seems like there are some on this site who are OK with mediocrity. They are OK with weak game plans that don't give their teams a chance to win. Yes USC was better than the BIG RED, but not 18 pts. We aren't the only ones who didn't agree with coach and the gameplan...the announcers were a little confused as well. Remember last year against Kansas the players said they weren't ready, and we got our JOCKS handed to us...I think we were ready to play USC, and the players showed it NOT the coaches. I remember a video that came out during the Orange Bowl National Championship game...it showed clips of TO's halftime speech. Remember we were behind at half, and TO told his players they were going to win if they played their game. I'm not sure I want to see Callahans half-time speech. As for people coaching a BCS program...maybe you should lead by example. Everytime a negative comment comes on here you rip people saying they are wrong. You seem to think what Callahan is doing is right and we are heading down the right track, but yet your just like us a Husker Fan. I don't doubt you want this program to be a winning program, but come on, to rip some one because they are passionate about their favorite college football team, that's going overboard. Many of us and probably you as well have grown up with Husker football all our lives and 95% of that time it has been a winning program with great traditions, some of us are not used to seeing this program on a major downslope. Many probably thought we would be down, but not by some of the ways we have been under Callahan. So I will close by saying I hope people continue to be passionate both ways, but ask that we allow people to be passionate, and the next time I see the Huskers on TV maybe I will see "SKERSFAN" on the sideline.
  12. I would have posted this on the thread "Lost the Faith," but truthfully I have never had faith in Callahan. I love Husker football just as much as anyone, and am very proud of how the team played saturday. I thought we would give up 40 pts, but I thought we would put up more pts ourselves. Then I watched the game. There was no way we were going to score over 20 on these guys. The speed of their defense was amazing. Let's not kid ourselves, this USC team is not as good as they have been...they are still trying to find themselves, we really got beat by 2 players...the QB and WR. A couple of things that caught my eye...when you force the opposing offense in long situations, you need to get them off the field, not allow them to continue the drive. I know of a 3rd and long and 1st and long that we gave up big plays...25 yards on the 1st and long. That is not physical football. USC won because we allowed them to continue drives. I will agree with the writer on "Lost the Faith" Callahan called a horrible game. I read last week on this site...many of you were saying we would win. I would think you would be disappointed that we were never given a chance to win. I thought the West Coast Offense was supposed to be more balenced and open up our passing game. We looked like the old huskers, run, run, run. Our passing game was working enough to pass more than we did. Again their speed on defense shut down the running game. Either Callahan doesn't have confidence in the West Coast Offense or he doesn't have confidence in his team. If either is true, then all of us in Husker Nation should be worried, but then again most people on this site are more concerned with moral victories and year to year improvement, then they are with victories in general. I really thought we would lose the game, but let's be honest an 18 pt loss could have been 8-11 very easily. Yes I am proud of the team, but the coach has some splanin' (I Love Lucy) to do in regards to his offensive approach. One last thing...did I read his goal is to only get back to the Big 12 championship game this year...did he even mention if he would want to win that game. May I remind all we are a program that plays for championships not championship game appearances.
  13. Can I just say I think we will get beat by USC. I don't think it will be close. I do believe the BIG RED will play hard and show up...but USC is just too good. However this is why they play the games on the field. May I remind Husker fans of the year we were two time defending national champs going for a three-peat. On paper we were unstoppable, we had huge holes on our team due to graduation, but still loaded. This was Scott Frosts first year. Does anyone remember the score. Arizona St. 19 Nebraska 0 Yes I believe we will get beat by USC, but I thought we would three-peat that year as well. GO BIG RED
  14. I know Husker fans don't like to compare Callahan teams to Osborn teams (and if you have read any of my posts, I do this a lot.) But Big Red Nation, may I add I may not be the only one doing this...especially the ones who are voting in the polls. An Osborn team would have put up 70 pts on La Tech. An Osborn team would have put up 21 pts in the 1st Quarter rather than the 4th. When it comes to the polls I don't agree with this, but there are people who still feel we are a long way from being the old Nebraska, which we are. We won a game and that is it...it was aginst LaTech and next we play Nicholls St. I haven't seen the polls, but my question would be...Is Cal still ranked ahead of us. We actually looked good in this game. I was impressed witht the final numbers...the running game seemed to be going great, and wow 21 pts in the 4th, has a Callahan team ever put up 21 in the 4th. It was a great win, and a great way to start the season, but I didn't expect us to move up even if we would have scored 100pts. It was LA "FREEKIN' Tech. If this team is as good as everyone says it is, we will move up when we are supposed to, but I can promise you it won't happen unless we upset USC (?) or we get into the Big 12. I agree with one person, we may actually drop out at one point and then have to work our way back in.
  15. I have to admit living out of state sucks when it comes to Husker coverage. So this posting that says..."Finally Game Week," is a good thing to see. It doesn't seem possible...since Nebraska has been down the last couple of years...National Media hasn't been talking Husker Football like they used to. Thanks again for this site.
  16. You know what I think is interesting is that a couple of weeks ago...some in the Husker camp (including myself) was a little uncertain about the QB future of this team. Within the last 2-3 weeks we have seen 2 (what appear to be) big name QB's come to Nebraska. I remember reading on this site, someone being upset about all the QB's who decided not to come to Lincoln because Beck was here (trust me, I understand that thought.) Now see how the pages are turning...people are wanting to come to Nebraska. Speaking of QB's...Who on this site love hearing about the problems in Oklahoma.
  17. I was listening to ESPN Radio970 out of Modesto, CA. yesterday. They were getting ready for the upcoming pre-season game between the Raiders and 49er's. They started to talk about 49er history, when the host of the program wanted to do a trivia question. The question was..."What college did former 49er running back Roger Craig go to." The other host of the program said that was too easy...he then asked for the name of the former 49er fullback who went to the same school. This is where it gets funny. The main host went on to talk about the team that lost to Miami in the Orange Bowl (you remember, failed 2 pt. conversion.) He asked one more question...what was the nickname of the offensive line from that team that lost the Orange Bowl. I will be honest I knew the first two answers pretty fast, the offensive line threw me for a loop. Well I work with the main host of the program at a minor league baseball stadium. I explained that I was origionally from Nebraska, and I loved the question, but what was the nickname of the offensive line. The answer...are you ready for this...He thought the nickname for the offensive line was "THE BLACKSHIRTS." I then felt it was my duty to tell him that nickname belongs to the defense.
  18. Let me see if I understand this or not...he was a top recruit, then Red Shirted to mature and learn the system, and just because he was brought in for what turned out to be 1 game he is supposed to be the next Tommie Frazier, Turner Gill, Scott Frost, or Eric Crouch. He hasn't done a thing yet...yes what he did last year coming in for Taylor was great, but it was an emergency situation. Everyone has had to come in take their licks, and get their ass-kicked, maybe that is why he didn't like it in Lincoln...he was getting his ass kicked. Well I guess the partial Red Shirt didn't bring about any maturity...good-bye
  19. Whoa fellas...have you looked at the schedule for next year. Texas and USC. Don't get me wrong...we did some good things this year, but remember we had some major breakdowns this year that cost us games. I really didn't think we would finish strong considering we lost to KU and MU, but they did. I have been tough on this team, some of my comments could be considered the toughest on this site. I am happy to see the Huskers back in the Top 25, the Michigan win was good...the defense was very good and played with a lot of intensity in the bowl game. I am not ready to say Callahan is the guy for this job, I would say he bought himself some more opportunities to prove himself...next year they need to fix the mental breakdowns, play 4 quarters of football, and beat teams they are supposed to beat...in other words...continue going forward.
  20. The record may say improvement, but the season does not. I am thrilled that we beat the Buffs, however I am disappointed about one thing. Where was that performance all year. I have asked for a statement game all year...and on the final game of the year they finally make a statement. If that type of performance was around all year...we beat Tech, Oklahoma, KU and Missouri. I believe that would be 11 wins. We have to look at the entire season. This team beat themselves too many times, and the defense even admitted they did not show up for the KU game. This team may be going to a bigger tier bowl, and have a couple more wins, but untill we play every down of every game the entire season we will continue to see 4-6 losses a year...that is NOT improvement. Congrats on beating the Buffs...that was awesome.
  21. The last I checked I don't believe we have a complete schedule...1 or 2 games (non-conference) not scheduled yet. However, the rest of the schedule...might be the toughest in the nation. Anytime you have to play Texas and USC in the same year...ouch!!! I would love to say a winning season, but I don't trust this team and coaching staff in close games. If we are to have a winning season, we cannot fall behind by 21 pts...we have to play 4 quarters every week...and beat teams that we should beat. In other words we can't lose to Kansas and Missouri.
  22. I went on a sport web site today, and they are mentioning we might play Florida State...what have you heard?
