  1. Again thank you for the comments related to the loss, it is nice to know there are Husker fans who still understand that loosing is NOT OK.
  2. The only thing I can say is welcome to college football. For as long as I can remember...you win, you climb...you lose, you drop. The fact that people are still voting for us says we are worthy of getting looked at. Nebraska does NOT deserve to be in the Top 25. Maine and Wake not Top 25 foes. Pitt has been a huge downer. It took 2 ot's to beat ISU...if we beat them by 10 in regulation we're in, and we had to climb out of a grave to only loose to TECH. About the remaining part of our schedule, probably not going to get points for beating Oklahoma this year, maybe Colorado, KSU will put us in. However if we get a bowl bid this year and loose, we will be receiving votes again. We want to be ranked we must win.
  3. I am happy to hear someone say they hate this loss. So far this season and even last year, all I heard people say was "Be patient, we are rebuilding." To me it sounds like Husker fans were saying loosing, and loosing hard was OK. I remember a couple of years ago, when Husker Fan thought loosing hurt, or didn't even know what a loss felt like...now it seems like second nature, and people are saying it's OK...be patient. I live on the West Coast so I don't get much Husker action, except scoring updates on ESPNRadio. When I heard 21-0, I thought this team has no heart. They don't seem to care that they are being embarassed. Then I heard the final score. Let me make a couple of comments. This loss hurts. We were in a position to win, we had the lead with :12 seconds left, and had the team backed in a corner on 4th and 2. With that much time left, all they could really do was pass, so no surprise there. But :12 seconds and 4th and 2. I am depressed about this loss...please don't say this is a good loss, there is no such thing as a good loss. I don't believe the players are walking out of the locker room saying, "Hey we played better, we didn't give up 70 pts." This is the type of loss where you could see players crying...and as a matter of fact maybe they should, to show us that they wanted this game, it mattered, that they are making progress, and starting to understand the system. Ok maybe they are making progress, but it is still a loss, and it hurts.
  4. Sorry it took me so lone to get back and finish my thread. I said I would get rid of the Coach and AD. I would replace them with Turner Gill as Coach, and Ron Brown as AD. They know the tradition of the program, and would bring the program back to glory.
  5. Can I put in a vote to get rid of the coach...Ernie Chambers could coach this team better than Coach C.
  6. Look like they know what they are doing...I saw a picture in the paper over the weekend, and our QB was looking to sideline with his hands up in the air. Does this team know what they are doing, or what they are supposed to do.
  7. Anything is possible...however with this team I'm not sure. I would love to be 6-0, but we are playing teams that have improved over the years. For example, Iowa State, they aren't the Cyclones they were a couple of years ago...they know how to beat Nebraska, and since they have a couple of times in the last 10-12 years, they know they can. Texas Tech is still capable of putting up a lot points...our defense is better than last year so I don't think a repeat of last year will happen, but we don't score at will either (I take you back to the last game.) And speaking of Oklahoma, I would love it if we beat Oklahoma, nothing would make me happier. Right now Nebraska is only playing well on 1 side of the ball...if the offense were better, I would feel better...but remember we are on the verge of an offensive explosion...and that was said before the Pitt game.
  8. I heard his comments, and by the way this is not the first time he has unloaded on Coach C. As much as I agree with Rome's comments, I am wondering if Rome is just being Rome and flapping his jaws, or does he really hate Coach C.
  9. Junior...How can you bring up money in this comparision. Give me a break. You may want to be careful talking money in relationship to college football...if the NCAA finds out, they may put Nebraska on probation.
  10. Junior, you say you were a student at UNL that year, and you went to "SOME" of the games...How can you be a student at UNL and only go to "SOME" of the games. Where's the dedication!!!
  11. I will say USC is a great team, one of the best ever. Let's remember 1 thing...no one believed the Huskers could win that year, especially heading into the Fiesta Bowl. They thought the "Fun and Gun" would destroy the old and defunct triple option...may I remind Husker Nation that "Gator is what's for dinner." 10 years later I still hear Tommy Frazier's name mentioned as possibly the best option quarterback ever. Take away the off the field problems, L. Phillips would have won the Heisman...then look at our defense...they made S. Spurrier scratch his head that game. D. Weurfel never saw so much grass than what he did that game. Nebraska put up 62 points on a dangerous Florida team, and held the gators to just 24 pts. Then look at our coaching staff. Tom O usually had games won before they started because he coached in his head. The rest of the staff worked on the same page...making adjustments. Oh yeah, we should have scored 80 that game. USC is expected to win...they might have a fight, but they are expected to win...some have even called them champs already. Matt L. is an awesome q-back, and will be the No. 1 pick...but with our personnel from that year, I believe we would do the same thing to a very good USC team with great/dangerous players, and coaches. However I bet there are people out there who would still NOT give that Husker team a shot. But here is the thing, you can't compare, because they are two different time frames/styles of offense/and coaching styles.
  12. Husker fans note that if he is brought back...the football team will stay in a state of medocrity, but remember that is why FS was let go.
  13. If I remember, LP during one of his altercations, climbed two stories of an apartment complex to get to his girlfriend...sounds like LJ used the front door. Once again Nebraska shows they have the best weightlifting program in the country.
  14. I will sum it up this way...Some people on this site said they were not impressed with Ohio's win over Pitt because they had to win on an INT. We had to rely on a blocked field goal attempt. You see more INT's for TD's than you do blocked field goals. WE WEREN'T THAT IMPRESSIVE EITHER. Oh! yeah, I'm supposed to be patient, we have the right coach, but he doesn't have his players. I'm supposed to be patient, we are on the brink of an offensive explosion, according to the Great Coach C. By the way did you see his response when asked, "Let's talk about your offense," he said let's don't. Pitt came in struggling, this should have been a week where we made a statement, the problem is we did make a statement...we have a looooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!! way to go. Sure glad I'm a patient person.
  15. I just read an article about the Ohio win over Pitt (Congrats Frank). It was mentioned that AD Pederson wanted to bring in Wannstedt first. The article on HuskerPedia.com comes up with some good examples. Since Ohio beat Pitt, and the former Pitt AD is now our AD got rid of the former Nebraska coach who is now the coach of Ohio...what if Pitt beats Nebraska. Brings up some good questions about the program and who is calling the shots at the program.
  16. I just read an article from WF. (I saw posts on this, but could not find them again, so I started a new reply...sorry.) We all have one thing in common...A LOVE FOR THE HUSKERS. We have different opinions and thoughts, but we love the Huskers. Growing up in Southeast Nebraska I was surrounded with Husker Football and the traditions that make it great. One of the traditions that make Husker football great is the home crowd, and how they treat the visitors. The article from WF praised Husker Nation for their hospitality...I cried, it was beautiful. I have been to sporting events all over the country...we are the best and most loyal fans in america. I love it when we stand and applaud the visiting team...I love it when the band plays their fight song. You see having lived in Ohio for 7 years and now California, it is hard for me to get Husker football, so this site is awesome...and reading an article like the WF article makes me realize just what I am missing...THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE NEBRASKA.
  17. I was listening to ESPN Radio, and they were talking about Ohio State/Texas, and they asked a question...What major non-conference game would you like to see. Nebraska/Ohio State Nebraska/Alabama or Auburn I am of course looking forward to Nebraska/USC in a couple of years.
  18. I am sick and tired of people making excuses for Coach C. One of the major traditions at Nebraska has been our graduation rate, and their GPA's. We have smart players, who have been playing football for years. They know how to read playbooks. College programs and NFL teams change systems all the time. Transitions have not been as rough as ours. Notre Dame seems to be ok with a new coach, no one is worried about Urban Meyer, he was even successful at little Bowling Green. Could it be they are also bringing in a "win now" attitude. They aren't waiting for "their" players or for a couple of years, they're worried about now. Notre Dame prides itself on winning, and winning now, that's why they have had coaching problems, because it wasn't happening now. Nebraska used to be that type of program, but now we are content to wait a couple of years so the Coach can get "HIS" players. It's called execution, doing the little things. As I mentioned on another note on this site...not converting third downs doesn't take years, or players in a certain system to perfect. I am glad that "some" things are improving, but come on, 3 different times not converting a 3rd down, if we can't get those things right...that is not about what system your playing, that's football.
  19. After living in Ohio for 7 years, I relocated to Turlock, CA. I met my wife on the internet on a christian web-site, and re-located to a town close to Modesto, CA. (No, I don't know Scott Petersen personally.) While in Ohio, I worked at a Christian radio station where I was morning announcer. I have not been able to find a radio job out here yet, but hopefully. Right now I work in the music department of a christian bookstore. I have met a few Husker fans out here, which makes you feel a little closer to home. My favorite non-Nebraska place to visit, has been sight-seeing in the state that I now call home...California is beautiful.
  20. Junior, I agree 100%...I watched the Ohio State/Texas game, and the only turnover Ohio State had took away a chance for the buckeyes to march down the field for a possible winning field goal. And if it weren't for instant replay in that game, they would not have had the play where they lost the ball, because an Ohio State player fumbled on the kick-off...Just ask Joe Dailey about turnovers...if he would not have thrown as many turnovers, he may still be at Nebraska, and not at North Carolina...at least he will be able to watch a good basketball team play.
  21. I just read in the Lincoln paper that the first year under Coach C was a Transition year, and the second year is "A work in Progress." My question is...Is there a difference. From what it sounds the offense hasn't improved a lot, they may have taken small steps, but when your not converting third downs, thats not progress. When do we quit making excuses or putting labels on this football team, and hold our coaches accountable for the main issues...x's and o's. I have been impressed with what I read about the defense, starting to sound like the blackshirts we have grown to love. However, converting third downs is x's and o's. I read that Coach C is an offensive wiz...this is a joke to me. In the first 2 games of the season we have scored 25, and 31 points a game. One of the teams we played we should have scored 40-50. I can excuse WF, they do play in the ACC against Miami, Florida State, Va Tech, etc. But if he is an offensive wiz why aren't there more points...and the writer said he will find a way to move the chains...not converting 3rd downs...don't see the chains moving. As of right now, I don't see a difference between "A Transition Year," and a "Work in Progress."
  22. If things are getting this bad in the third largest city in Nebraska (Memorial Stadium) is the sell-out streak in jeapordy.
