  1. Nebraska doesn't like controlling its own destiny. They will squander this opportunity. I'm not even being pessimistic here. It is utter insanity to expect otherwise, based on this season's body of work. NIT. And that's true...Nebraska has a very good history of squandering opportunities...but I think they can beat CU... Found another possibility though...if we do beat CU and by some chance...Baylor beats Texas: Texas has a hard time winning on the road as of late-we end up as a #7 seed and play Texas Tech in the first round...Win and we rematch with Texas.
  2. If only that was Bosh throwing the ball at LeBron...
  3. tOSU for several reasons. 1) tOSU has been the top dog in the conference. 2) All their players are returning from suspension 3) Ohio State is in Lincoln...the atmosphere is going to be crazy. 4) With both teams potentially being undefeated or with one loss heading into that game...Nebraska might have the chance to rebreak the attendance record at CGD
  4. It'll be tough, because it is a road game...but Nebraska can do it.
  5. Alright...all we got to do is win a road game...oh man
  6. I really am leaning towards Boise State though...I mean, why would anyone want to play there? The team goes from a perennial nothing to a perennial BCS team almost overnight. TCU is going to be happy? All signs lean towards Boise State.
  7. Using that nice bracket generator that fro daddy posted, I've got six possible scenarios for us: The first one, also the not so nice one is: Colorado beats Iowa State tonight and then beats Nebraska in the final Big XII game. That puts us at the #8 seed and playing Oklahoma State (a team we've already beaten this year) Win that game and we get to play Kansas who will probably destroy us and eliminate any slight hope of making the NCAA Tournament. -OR- The second one: CU inexplicably loses to Iowa State and then loses to Nebraska. This would put us at the #6 seed and playing Oklahoma (a team we've already beaten this year) We win that game and then we play Texas A&M (another team we've beaten this year) We win that game and get to the semifinals and play Texas (yet another team we've beaten this year). All things considered, we make it to the finals, we're more than likely to be selected to dance in March. -OR- The third one: CU beats Iowa State but loses to Nebraska. This would put us at the #5 seed and playing Iowa State (a team we've lost to but will more than likely beat if we were to play them again) Win that game and we would play Kansas State who would more than likely beat us and send us to the NIT again. -OR- The fourth one: CU loses to Iowa State and Nebraska. And Missouri beats Kansas. This results in the same situation as the second scenario. -OR- The fifth one: CU beats Iowa State and loses to Nebraska. And Missouri beats Kansas. This also results in the same situation as the second scenario -AND FINALLY- The sixth one: CU beats Iowa State and Nebraska. And Missouri beats Kansas. This results in the same situation as the first scenario. Basically, we need to become either Missouri fans or Iowa State fans. Also, we need Nebraska to pick up a much needed win on the road against CU.
  8. I'm going with a bomb in the arena for the win. Helps us move up in the Big XII standings...maybe even an NCAA tourney bid.
  9. Can't believe Arsenal lost to Birmingham...but Birmingham is a sneaky team. Good for them. Also, that $70M Chelsea threw out there for Torres...yeah, it's working really well right now. Play Drogba and Torres...how bout that?
  10. There are two basic arguments in regard to spending cuts. The Republican position is that in lieu of massive entitlement cuts (political suicide) something is better than nothing. Democrats don't have a unified position but the general feeling is that the Republican proposal is a token effort that will have an extremely negative effect on people that are most vulnerable. So while we're busy patting ourselves on the back over defunding planned parenthood and public broadcasting (which won't ever go through) nobody is talking about the actual problems that have led us to record deficits with no end in sight. Because of tax cuts for the people with most of the wealth, tax credits that have record numbers paying no taxes at all and a period of economic contraction, tax revenue as a share of GDP has plummeted to the lowest levels since the 1930's (the chart doesn't go that far back). Defense spending has surged to the highest level since the Cold War and Medicare spending is growing far faster than inflation. Social Security is often lopped in there too but it's a very different kind of entitlement than Medicare with relatively predictable future benefits. Anyway that's the problem; attempting to defend planned parenthood is entirely political and abortion the most reliable issue Republicans can squeeze for campaign donations. They know that legal precedent will not change in the foreseeable and instead have began a campaign to limit access and intimate providers. Right now there are bills in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa being floated that would justify the killing of a provider, as though the militant pro-life crowd needs any more encouragement. There's a bill in Georgia that would criminalize miscarriages. In one of the first bills of the new congress they tried to narrow the definition of rape to practically being strapped down and raped at gunpoint, as well as easing incest provisions. What's going on here is beyond insane. How can you criminalize a miscarraige
  11. To be literal, every team has a chance to win the MNC in this upcoming season, because all the teams are undefeated. To be realistic, no, I don't think we have much of a chance at winning it all this year, but who knows, I think the offense is going to be much more consistent than last years. Now I say consistent because it wasn't like we didn't have an offense last year. We did, but it only showed up when it wanted to (Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Missouri, 1st half Oklahoma, Washington (first time)). The games we lost were lost because of an inconsistent offense and I think that all changes this year. The offense may not be where it needs to be to win MNC, but at least we will be getting consistent production from that side of the ball. Combine this new offense with a schedule that will probably be the toughest schedule in college football next season and you've got a very tough road to the national championship game. We do get Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan State at home, so if we could get a win at either Wisconsin or Penn State then it will be very likely that we could get to the first Big Ten CCG and potentially a BCS Bowl bid. Odds at winning the MNC: 2.2222222% Odds of winning the B1G: 40% Odds of winning 10 games (again): 75%
  12. Potentially, yes. The two options given by Pelini indicate that they are gone from the program. He just didn't indicate wether they resigned, or if they were fired. Praise the Lord!
  13. I still don't buy that this law suit, if successful, will lead to a dramatic, for the worse, way which we watch football games on TV. ESPN and the like have signed deals with conferences and individual schools (i.e. Texas/SEC). For us, the Big Ten has the Big Ten Network. These TV companies are not clueless as to potential downfalls in their companies by law suits such as these so therefore they should already have themselves covered by some clause in the contract. The video game is a whole different case. The problem I have with this lawsuit is, why now? Players likenesses have been being used in video games for years on end now, so why is it now (3 years ago) that these lawyers/players feel the need to bring this to court? That's what doesn't make sense to me And does anyone have experience with signing a LOI to play football at the University of (Insert Name here)? If not, then none of us know if those players sign their rights away or if they don't. The fact that the case has gotten this far may prove that they don't, but none of us can be sure that they do. All we have is speculation; opinion based on expertise.
  14. I agree one 1 and 2. However, on point 3 I will simply ask you this. Do you think that the NCAA is taking advantage of the athletes through television? I don't think they are taking advantages of the athletes through television. When they advertise games they advertise: Nebraska vs Oklahoma, not Roy Helu Jr vs. DeMarco Murray. They advertise the match-ups of the teams, and although there are star athletes on both sides of the ball for the teams being advertised, the athletes chose to go to the school. And I sincerely hope it is tossed. And for those thinking I'm crazy about this getting applied to televising CFB games, read this: Ignoring the fact that EA does not use names, they are alleging that it's to solicit and advertise the sale of a game. What do you think ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS, and Versus do? They use actual photo/video footage of real players (not digital models) to solicit the sale of advertisements, to the tune of billions of dollars each year. So if they win, you can count on TV being next. Again, they advertise teams not players. This is why they won't be able to get to the TVs. The players chose the teams they were going to play for and should've known that if they chose a big time program, they were more than likely going to be advertised as a part of the team whenever a big matchup came around. If they don't want their names to be used, then they should've played for Northwestern Eastern State of Texas Western University
  15. It's not what they're aiming for, because if they were, it would have been tossed. You can't sue a company for allowing a consumer to do something they are legally allowed to do. I'm not disagreeing with you on that point, I'm just trying to sort out what they are actually basing their argument on.
  16. Because I'm sure ESPN has themselves covered legally, otherwise players from the NFL, NBA, MLB, EPL, La Liga, Serie A, MLS, PGA, any athletic association covered by ESPN would've sued them by now.
  17. And also, I think they are suing EA for giving the fan's the ability to generate likenesses of players, and then giving everyone who owns the game the right to DL it to their hard drives and use it for themselves.
