  1. I want to add that tOSU beating Wisky like that gives me serious reason to believe they will win this whole deal.
  2. I can see how some Christians are wondering but theres nothing to it. Most folks dont know Baylor has any affiliation at all. This was about football. Period.
  3. California Husker: I think you stated what I was thinking better than I did.
  4. To the OP: There is a fourth category. Those who are tired of sideways hires and want to get this thing rockin again. And I need to quit doggin on Riley. He's a hell of a coach we will see what happens. GO BIG RED!
  5. OK so we do have a playoff now which is probably a good thing. However there is an obvious problem with the format. You have 4 slots and 5 power conferences. This means that even if the lowly big 12 had their act together, someone is getting left out. I think the committee pretty much got this thing right. They ended up with 4 undisputed conference champs duking this thing out. However with respect to the format there is an elephant in the room. And that is this fact: if either Baylor or TCU were in this thing they would legitimately have a shot to take it all. I can see Baylor or TCU beating bama, fsu, oregon, or tosu. This at least to me gives creedence to the argument that there should be 6 teams in the playoff. This could be done with 2 play in games. In fact it could be argued that 8 teams should be in. We have quality teams, MSU, Auburn, Miss St, Old Miss who could win it all.
  6. The thing that was frustrating when we played em with callahan, he didnt even try to air it out and win. We had good receivers who were real gamers. Werent swift and petersen on that team? I didnt feel like we ever tried to bring the heat like we could have.
  7. Our d backs did their best and good work trying to keep us in the game with msu. We should be fine.
  8. The coaches can do what they want but it really comes down to player motivation. What are they playing for? That is what the coaches need to define.
  9. Their own slogan, everybody plays everybody. One true champion. They had a CCG it was in Waco, and Baylor won it. (Or more accurately TCU lost it.). They need to add two teams. The whole conference is OUT and deservedly so. The playoff either needs to go to 8 teams or have two play ins.
  10. That all looks OK but I hope they realize that we have a national OL trophy named after one of our guys. This is NEBRASKA.
  11. http://www.baylorfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286475 More of the same sentiment from baylor fans.
  12. Couldnt vote on your poll because acceptable answers were not available for question 3.
  13. The Big 12 office is at it again. This time it is blatantly obvious. Baylor should be the outright champions of the conference. They have an identical record as TCU but they have the head to head victory over TCU. By their own written rules Baylor should be the conference representative. But the Big 12 knows that it lessens TCU s shot at the playoff if Baylor is named conference champions. What a mess! This reminds me when we had the head to head victory over mizzou in 2010 yet the big 12 website never once listed Nebraska in front of mizzou in the division standings. Always that we were tied and mizzous name was always on top. Even when we were actually playing in the championship game. Big 12 creates their own mess. This reminds me why I am glad we are out.
  14. There were 2 that I saw yesterday. I hope they look at this in the offseason. These players work their tails off all year and I dont feel its justified to eject them for some of these plays. The OSU player was clearly just trying to lay a hard block on the wisconsin player. Thats football. He wasnt speering or intentionally trying to injure. Just making a hard block. Its just an injustice to that young man to eject him. The mizzou player was a little more blatant. Still not sure if I agree with his ejection.
  15. My best guess is that the 95 team would have been 21-28 pts better than the 2001 team in that game.
  16. Everyone keeps saying its not 1995 anymore. So are you saying that its easier for Nebraska in this day and age to bring in the same type of QB and receivers that everyone else is going after? I dont think so! Cowherd, Greise, SVP etc all say Nebraska needs to know its place now. I agree. We cant compete for the recruits that are going to stay in the south. All the more reason to stick to Nebraska run/option/play action pass, and really use the walk on program. Anyway...goodnight discuss amongst y'selves
  17. Since you haven't really looked at OSU's stats for 2014 I'll help you out: Riles threw the ball 55% of the time. His QB's completed 61.4% of their passes, averaged 7 yds. per attempt and 11.4 yds. per completion. His RB's averaged 3.8 yds. per carry. Looks to me like throwing the ball was just shy of twice as productive as running the ball was. They would have had to run the ball 92 times to get 350 yds. Riles will find a better stable of running backs at Nebraska than he had at OSU, so why don't we wait till the team takes the field before start to bitch about something that hasn't happened yet. T_O_B Have you youtubed OSU and watched their offense? I have. Thats not a Nebraska Cornhusker offense. You dont need a crystal ball to look at this and predict that this product is not going to be starting a new dynasty. We will continue to be out recruited for the quality receivers and passing QB. Nebraska needs to get back to the formula that produced national championships. Not bring in random pro style 61 year old journeymen and say wow this guy really knows how to succeed at Nebraska. What a joke
  18. Lol I need a time machine in more ways than just one! But seriously are you saying that tough defense and an explosive run/ play action pass attack is out dated? Are you going to watch Wisconsin tomorrow play for a b1g title? Are you going to watch GT play for an ACC title? Do you think Seattle is winning because of Wilsons arm right now? Come on, get with it! Why dont you care about tradition and proven success?
  19. Real Nebraska football: #2 Nebraska Cornhuskers at #7 Colorado Buffaloes :
  20. See I am the opposite. This hire removes hope for me. Nebraska football had an identity. And that identity has been forgotten along with our championship winning ways. Our calling card was physical hard nosed defense (arent you old enough to remember the real blackshirts?) and an explosive running/play action pass attack. Now we have hired another pro style passing coach, with no plans to bring back real Nebraska football. Sucks for me. I watch the Seattle Seahawks, and Wisconsin to remind myself of what Nebraska football used to look like. I miss it. I miss the days of rolling teams all year long with at least 350 yds rushing per game. They used to fear Nebraska. There was an article in sports illustrated in the mid nineties talking about how physical the huskers were and about how hard our line hit the Colorado middle linebackers. They said they had NEVER been hit that hard. I feel like the new coaches dont plan on resurrecting true Nebraska football. Smart is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, but wise is knowing that a tomato does not belong in a fruit salad.
  21. This was a sideways move for Nebraska but more importantly it was a lost opportunity. There was no one at the presser from ESPN or Sports Illustrated. In other words we are nationally irrelevant. This hire does nothing to improve that. Nebraska should expect better. We had a chance to really get it going again. Not now. 5 more wasted years. There, I drew a side.
  22. This hire may not work out for several reasons. First, just like a corn seed needs certain environmental elements to flourish so does a cornhusker coach. He needs available recruits who fit his system. He needs fan support. He needs local walk ons to fill in and be a true resource. Lets start with recruits. We know Mike will be recruiting a passing quarterback. But so is the rest of the country. The result? No advantage for Mike here. Now if we were going after a unique athlete to run a multiple option offense, like a Scott Frost, or a Tommy Frazier, well he might have more luck. But this will not be the case. Strike one, the seed is having a hard time breaking through an early crust. Secondly, husker fans boosters and future players are now accustomed to seeing Wisconsin play better "Nebraska" football than we do. Stifling defense, and a strong offensive line and running back eating your guts out. This is Nebraska football. If Mike were to put that product on the field husker fans would rejoice! Can you imagine putting up 627 yards on a hopelessy outmanned Wisconsin badger team in two years? That would be awesome, but alas, Mike will probly lead us down the west coast path again and he is no defensive guru. Strike two. Now the sprouting plant is turning yellow from lack of nutrients. Lastly Nebraska coaches can grow and produce hard nosed walk on kids to fill essential roles on the team. These kids are not super fast or five star kids. But you ask them to fit into a physical run first, play action pass offense or stifling 4-3 and they can do it. You ask them to get two steps separation on 3rd and 12 against a 5 star kid from Florida, well thats not gonna happen. Mikes system wont make the most of our local kids who are a big part of the championship teams. Strike three. The plant is completely curled, brown and done. Our long wait for the return of Husker football has just been made longer.
