  1. Thanks for the link . They must not see my posts here or social media either I made it through the purge lol
  2. I remember last year being happy to see Jaylin Bradley get some touches, because i wanted to see the Nebraska kid succeed. I also remember him being hit almost immediately after he got the ball, on many plays, giving him little chance to do anything. When he did have some room to run he did pretty well. None of the running backs are going to do well without better blocking.
  3. If I had a concern it would be with the offensive line . If they do their job well it makes everything work . We have a stable of good backs , a couple good qbs, and great receivers . If the blocking allows them time and space to make plays, our offense will be scary good . Depth at the ol positions isn’t great either and that’s a concern . I trust frost and crew to get this entire team playing at a high level so I’m really not that concerned . Damn I’m just excited to see this team and coaching staff in action ! GBR
  4. I think Trump makes a big mistake with all the tweeting . Instead of working with his advisors to put out a well thought out message, he fires out far too many Ill advised, unfiltered , unchecked, 3am tweets that can’t be taken back . Then he has to spend too much time trying to defend and deny things he probably shouldn’t have said in the first place . I think other presidents were better at using the media to their advantage , controlling what , and how much info reaches the general public . Trump goes directly to the public with everything so in that respect he does bring a lot of things on himself .
  5. Making Chimichangas and Ric were having a discussion and Ric threw out the Republican talking point about workers stealing the fruits rich peoples labors . I don't agree with that so i posted my opinion. The conversation turned to another Republican talking point of able bodied people refusing to take a job and staying on welfare instead. I don't think that problem is nearly as rampant as many do, so i posted my opinions on that too. Nobody wants to work a crappy job, but there was a time when that crappy job would provide good enough pay and benefits to afford a decent quality of life for workers, and their families, so those jobs were always filled.. Now those same jobs are more work, less pay, and less benefits making it very possible to bust ones ass all day and still not be able to maintain a decent quality of life. I don't support, or respect, an able bodied persons refusal to work, but like it or not, i can understand it. Most of the "Republican Utopia vision" is one i don't share, but i enjoy a civil exchange of opinions /facts about it anyway. I don't really think any aspect of the discussion is any more worthy than another,
  6. Not to play the whataboutism game but the Republicans don't want to stop illegal immigration either, just for different reasons. They want to provide a cheap exploitable stream of labor for their corporate buddies at all costs. Reagan pardoned millions of them with a weak agreement that that would somehow solve the problem. Illegal border crossings were at an all time high through the W Bush years, and he made little or no meaningful attempts to stop it. Companies willing hired and even recruited these people without any repercussions all through his eight years. A major reason the current problem even exists is because of that.
  7. Agreed . and for all of that they are rewarded with the lions share of the profits. Nobody is arguing against that. The problem is not one single one of them built their empire 100% on their own, and they owe the people who helped them get there a much bigger piece of the pie than they are currently providing. There was a time when that was true and America really was great for everyone. Now its great for a select few ,and just meh for millions of others.
  8. I don’t remember bringing up that aspect of the argument I may have been responding to flairs post though. I agree with the things you stated in this post .
  9. I hear the argument a lot about how there are all these able bodied people on welfare who refuse to work , and how it’s a huge problem for the country . I don’t have access to the info right now but I wonder if anyone here has factual data/numbers on how big of a problem it really is ? I’d like to see it .
  10. The bold is very debatable . I would say more like they pay the absolute least amount they can get away with. Idk but When those companies are making billions they should be paying more than whatever they are .
  11. I would actually agree with that part . I just think if companies offered better jobs some of that problem would solve itself .
  12. The situation where they’re still working those crappy jobs and may end up doing them for life . Not everyone is capable of getting a college degree or becoming CEO and advancement possibilities many places are limited . I worked crappy jobs, worked my way up , and “got mine” I just think people beneath me deserve much better treatment than they are getting.
  13. So did I . I just don’t feel the need to look down on, and judge people who are in that lousy situation now.
  14. @flair Easy to say for someone who’s never been in that position and never will be . As long as it’s THEM and not you . Got it
  15. Unemployment rates are low because the country is flooded with garbage jobs that nobody wants
  16. Illegal Hispanic immigration is going to become less of a problem a companies are moving to hire political refugees instead . Burmese , Sudanese , Somalians etc provide the same cheap exploitable labor without all the messy details of legality . They are a thousand miles from home and scared they will do whatever they are told , no matter how demeaning for little pay because it’s better than where they came from . Great for the companies bottom line but not so much for America .
  17. @ flair Why not offer jobs providing good compensation and benefits ? People don’t want to bust their ass for pathetic wages , lousy treatment and no benefits . You wouldn’t either .
  18. Yep i've heard that too, but that may be the only place that word is pronounced that way. The food company that was founded there pronounces it Beeuhtriss foods in their commercials. When its used as a female name its Beeuhtriss I knew someone who lived around Beatrice California and that how they pronounced it too
  19. Its not about taking the fruits of any one else's labor, its about everyone being rewarded with a fair amount of compensation for their days work. There was a time when factory jobs, and many others, paid good wages , provided good pensions , good medical insurance, and treated their employees with respect. The work was fast paced and back breaking , but people lined up to take those jobs. Upper management and stockholders made millions, and nobody complained, because everyone, top to bottom, felt like they were fairly compensated. Over the years companies have slashed wages, overtime, benefits, weakened unions, eliminated respect for employees, etc in effect ruining those job to the point where only an illegal or political refugee will take them. Telling people they "deserve" lousy wages , no benefits, lousy treatment , and applying relentless pressure to make them do more for less, so management can get big bonuses, breeds resentment. The scales have tipped way too far in favor of a select few people, and its bad for the country as a whole. Whats laughable is how they've got the same people they oppress, who had zero chance to sniff the stratosphere they live in, to support their "right" to oppress them , when they should be rioting in the streets to get fairer treatment.
  20. Carmul BeeAAtrice Creek or crick yep Root or Rowt = Route Grossery Store Coopon Huhper not Who per pop Nor fork not Norfolk or Norf@*k lol is warsh a Nebraska thing? I thought rednecks everywhere enjoyed that one . Cray On! for the love of God it’s Cray On !
  21. Don’t they deal with two different issues too ? Border patrol tries to stop illegal border crossings , and ICE deals more with deporting the ones who living here illegally . I’m sure there are a handful who want to do away with ICE but just like anything else, extremes won’t work . It doesn’t need to be a draconian, barbaric, thing like Trump seems to endorse, but it is a necessary program that shouldn’t be abolished .
  22. Russia is the worlds biggest producer of Asbestos? hmmm https://www.vox.com/2018/8/9/17670942/donald-trump-asbestos-epa-ban-russia
  23. I love comedy, satire, political humor , etc but something about her really puts me off . I don’t find her funny at all . Don’t agree that we can lump all “dems” into one category like that either.
  24. Yeah i would vote for a progressive Democrat. I would have voted for Bernie, and i like a lot of his ideas i'm just thinking if he tried to ram through his agenda it wouldn't work. Medicare for all, $15 an hr minimum wage, free college, fixing social security etc are all things i want i just think there would be fierce opposition to them, and a high probability of failure, especially if he tried to implement them all at once . As far as Obama not getting things done , i think he made a tactical error by trying to work with Republicans to come up with a bipartisan solution on healthcare. He wanted to fix healthcare, but he also wanted to be viewed as a uniter, and bipartisan. I would rather have seen him use his political leverage to go force through universal healthcare, with or without Republican support.
