  1. I didn't know you were a polygamist! Straight sister wives life for me!!!
  2. We have to go boating with neighbors because the wives were too scared to say "No, we don't want to", and then hopefully be back home at 5:00, so I can get ready for kickoff at 6:00.
  3. Maybe because we have been? 5-3 7-1 5-3 5-3 3-5 Do you think that we haven't been? 2011 we were third out of six in the Legends division (Michigan, Michigan State) 2012 we won the Legends division 2013 we were third in the Legends division (Michigan State, Iowa) 2014 we were third of seven in the West division (Wisconsin, Minnesota) 2015 we were fourth of seven in the West division (Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin) That's pretty middle-of-the-road. Which shows why the previous staff needed to go.....they only cared about getting to that 9 win mark and nothing more. Are there any comments in this thread saying Bo should have been retained?
  4. His thoughts on the depth chart are fine, all he is trying to do with tweeting out that pictures of the depth chart is stir a pot. I look at all of the walk-on talent as a positive. Depending on the walk-on program to fill a large number of holes in the depth chart is an indictment on the program's abilities to recruit and develop talent. It is an indictment on the previous staff to recruit and develop talent. The jury is still out on this staff, but looks very positive.I agree that the lack of depth at the junior and senior level is Bo's fault. I also think Riley's use of walk-ons at the WR and other spots that are way down the depth chart in order to preserve a RS season by a true freshman is prudent.

  6. Why is this year another transition year? I understand Armstrong isn't the ideal QB for Riley/Langsdorf and the defense doesn't have great depth and experience on the d-line. But, there should be plenty of talent to challenge for the division championship. I could see 2017 being a struggle year with a new starting QB, new WR's, and other turnover. Plenty of talent to challenge for a division title? How the mighty have fallen! Yes, it's very lame, but I think people are lowering their expectations to where we need another transition year.
  7. His thoughts on the depth chart are fine, all he is trying to do with tweeting out that pictures of the depth chart is stir a pot. I think his points on the number of walk-ons are valid. I think there are some depth issues on the roster, which is shown in the number of walk-ons and the large number of redshirt and true freshman on the depth chart.
  8. It looks like a lot of people here don't like Sam McKewon, but here are his thoughts on the depth chart. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/sam-mckewon-s-takes-on-the-husker-depth-chart/article_e2f0f422-6e1e-11e6-97bf-83d2de3f0f7a.html
  9. Last year, Nebraska's total defense was right at 400 yards per game, to rank #64 nationally. Yes, that is a poor defense, but the worst defenses in the country gave up 450-550. There were only 5 teams in the entire country that gave up less than 300 yards per game, with the lowest being Boston College at 254 YPG. Wisconsin had the best scoring defense last year at 13.1 Ohio State was #2 at 15.1. Only 15 teams in the entire country gave up less than 20 points per game. Nebraska was #76 nationally at 27.8, again which is not good. Thanks. Obviously the defenses are even poorer than I realized. Those are terribly high numbers, Nobody had a defensive scoring average under 10? Wow. The holding is blatant, the pass interference and targeting penalties, the pick plays, etc etc. All enable offenses to move better, score more, etc. Thanks. Once upon a time, to average 400 yards of offense a game was considered very good. Now teams are giving up that on a regular basis. Ugh. Didn't realize how bad things have gotten. While I agree that there have been rule changes and enforcement have enabled offense to be more productive. I think there are other factors that have led to the increase in offense production. These include: more no-huddle and hurry-up offenses (more plays=more yardage/points), 7 on 7 training in the younger ranks have enabled more skilled offensive players in college, scholarship limits have spread out the offensive talent to more teams, coaching philosophy of choosing to compete with an offensive philosophy and putting best players on offense, more spread offenses utilizing passing attacks. I can tell you are an old-school football fan, and I agree that it can be hard for me to watch a 60-50 football game. I don't know if it's "bad football", it's just different.

  11. If your'e talking about Gerry, isn't the suspension for a bs targeting call in the bowl game? No, the Gerry suspension is from a violation of team rules. Gerry's BS targeting call was in the 1st half of the bowl game, so he paid his penalty in that game.
  12. I would be pumped if Bryant excels at kickoff return like Ameer did as a true frosh.
  13. Three of the guys ahead of him are seniors who all have quality game experience. Nothing wrong with being behind them. I think his injury last year hampered his body and strength development, which is key for a TE. Hopefully Snyder will be able to get in the weight room and be a contributor for 2017.
  14. Harbaugh inherited a 5-7 team and went 10-3 losing less games than Nebraska in any year since Solich was fired. MR took a 9-4 team ad went 6-7. I don't know if toughness had anything to do with it, but if had my choice I prefer Harbaugh. Harbaugh did not follow BO and last season is not the measuring stick Barfy is using. Harbaugh did not win a championship except for running his mouth. Has never even played for one. Harbaugh changed the culture at Michigan and the players bought in from day 1. It was obvious when I saw them play a very good Utah team in game 1 last year. Yes, Michigan lost that game, only because their QB was a crappy guy who lost the job at Iowa. I'm not a huge Harbaugh fan, but I would take him at NU for a few years over Riley.
  15. I think Newby is better than Rose-Ivey, even when Rose-Ivey is healthy. If DPE can make it back to his freshman level of play and stay healthy, this will have a big impact on the season. I don't agree. He has the freshman Nebraska record for tackles for a reason. He should also be the ILB, not OLB. Newby has made strides though and think he will have a good year. Rose-Ivey was very good as a freshman, but the injuries over the past few years have made him worse. He is not dependable and looks very slow out there to me.
  16. Riley and Langsdorf will always go with the RB who is best in the pass game. Ozigbo may end up with more carries this year or may end up being the #1 guy later this season, but Riley and Langsdorf want that versatility at RB. From what I saw last year from running and catching. Gimme Ozigbo I would also rather have Ozigbo, but we aren't Riley or Langsdorf. They have different thoughts on the RB position that most of us on this board.
  17. 2 offense 2 defense. Your comparison doesn't work. Connor Cook wasn't a captain as a senior either Not comparable, Cook wasn't a four year starter. It is interesting though. Cook started for 3 years, so it is mostly comparable.

  20. The AD deserves a shot for not demanding greatness. Osborne deserves some criticism for his time as AD, as well. Also, if you ask Nebraska fans, what season would they have rather have last year, I think most would say they would have rather had Michigan's.
  21. Not many surprises there. We have heard so much from the media that have been at the practices. I do find it interesting that Bryant is ahead of Wilbon at I-back, but most people thought that was the case this past week.
  22. Those are the average yards and points given up by the "average" Big Ten defenses. Why do you expect those to be so much lower? I agree that the top defenses in the conference should be lower and NU should strive to be better than average, but Sam is just pointing out the average of the Big Ten defenses. The offenses are a lot better than they were 20-30 years ago, so these numbers sound about right for the average defenses in the conference.
  23. Oh wow... I am waiting for the "Barfknect never strapped on a jock, so he has no right to talk about toughness" posts.
  24. This!!! There is no reason NU shouldn't be going 6-1 or 7-0 nearly every year in this division. A disappointing season in the division would be 5-2.
