  1. The article said he is a finance major. I could understand going to UVA, UNC Chappel Hill or Boston College. But Montana? : I doubt the graduate school program had any factor in him choosing Montana. He probably wasn't going to be on scholarship next fall, and would have been well down the depth chart. He has 1 more year of eligibility, he might as well go have fun and play regularly for a FCS power in Montana.
  2. He was on scholarship for last fall and this spring. I am sure part of him transferring is that he probably wouldn't have had a scholarship for next summer/fall, so he would have been paying out of pocket for his graduate courses.
  3. I don't think any of us are saying that this guy is going to be the stud QB we need in the future. However, I think he's a good alternative for backup in 2017 (and maybe 2018). NU is going to be screwed in 2017 if POB isn't a stud QB.
  4. Well we did land 3 Under Armor All Americans and an Army American. So, I wouldnt say he is the only elite guy we got. But, yes we do need more talent at the skill positions to keep up with the big dogs. I think we need more overall talent in the trenches. The skill positions are the flashy gets, but NU has been average in the o-line and the front 4/7 on D for the past 5 years.
  5. We all know how much you value size!!!
  6. Severe and McKewon are saying that they need to work Jackson in on offense. Saying he is very dynamic when he has the ball.
  7. I think the video is really cool. I'm amazed at how well they can make those things. I am just goofing on everyone who thought Fitz's video was the worst thing ever and the downfall of America's youth, just because he committed to Louisville.
  8. Yep, Fitz is an attention whore and Jackson is a great film maker.
  9. So this video is ok, just because Jackson commits to NU?
  10. NU will probably need him to be at least a contributor in 2017. NU doesn't have many TE bodies that will be around after 2016. Redshirt this kid and get him to a position that he can add depth.
  11. It is a RB offer. Really? That's not a position of concern. Maybe we offer the 4 star kid at wherever he wants to play and let it work itself out later Yeah, I wouldn't worry about a position at this point. Some guys are just football players and can find ways to contribute.
  12. Good for this kid, and he gets to go to his dream school. Makes me wonder if NU should have been offering him earlier, but I understand the coaches were after some bigger fish and thought they had a commitment in Fitz.
  13. Oh no. There have been several I believe. Kevin Raemaekers back in about 1990 comes to mind. And Bill LaFleur. La Fleur started out as a walk-on, but eventually did earn a scholarship when he became starting punter. I had an english class with him our freshman year, and he wrote so many things about football. He had a nice run in the NFL, too.
  14. Yep, we really own the state!!! Although we lost a couple in-state recruits to other schools, and they only went after Engelhaupt as a plan C or D. Funny that he doesn't mention that.
  15. Watch that first step, it's a doooooozy!!!

  16. I just think that NU fans start to look pretty bad when they start saying all the negative things that have been said regarding Fitzpatrick and his father. It's an 18 year old kid, choosing where to go to college and play football for the next 3-5 years. Yes, it's disappointing he didn't choose NU, but be an adult and respect the kid's decision. Who cares how he announced it or whether he jilted NU's coaches in the process. It happens all the time.
  17. That's actually something I have severe questions about. I was in undergrad 20 years ago and never looked to transfer schools, but I have heard about people transferring schools and having issues with credits transferring over to their new school. I think it would be really odd for a player to go through 3-4 years at a school and then transfer for his last 1-2 years. I would think that would severely impact his standing at his new school and his ability to graduate in a reasonable amount of time. I know 99% of the kids are transferring for football reasons and have little care about how it impacts their academic standing, but if these are supposed to be student-athletes it just wouldn't feel right to me. I transferred schools, and it's not that difficult. Like everything else, you need to take time to learn the pros and cons. And if the players are in good academic standing, why would you assume that transferring would hurt them academically?Even if they are in good academic standing, there could be a number of classes/credits that don't transfer to the new school. It's probably the exception, rather than the rule, but it has to happen.
  18. How many people would be saying "Man, that video was awesome!!! I can't wait to get him in Lincoln!!!" if Fitzpatrick had committed to NU instead of Louisville. I know recruiting is important for the success of our favorite college teams, but man, to get all butt-hurt about the kid's decision is just crazy.

  20. Clearly losing a year of eligibility is not at all similar to redshirting. Actually, I think it's very similar. The guy spends a year with the team, going through practices, weight lifting, team meetings, scout team, and then not playing on Saturdays. If Lee had a redshirt year available, he would essentially be a redshirt in 2016. It's similar in some ways, but in the most important way, it's not: redshirting doesn't cost you a year of playing time like transferring does. Now, if people want to require a sit out year without a loss of eligibility, that might be different. But even then, what's the point of the restriction? I would say the redshirt year and transfer year are more similar than not. Yes, the transfer year costs a year of eligibility.
  21. Clearly losing a year of eligibility is not at all similar to redshirting. Actually, I think it's very similar. The guy spends a year with the team, attending class, getting accustomed to the school and city, going through practices, weight lifting, team meetings, scout team, and then not playing on Saturdays. If Lee had a redshirt year available, he would essentially be a redshirt in 2016.
  22. I have mixed feelings on the 1-year transfer rule. It's unfair that the coaches can get up and leave any time, while the student athletes have to sit out a year if they want to change schools. However, I think it would lead to "free agent" players and coaches recruiting/tampering with guys that are on college rosters.
  23. For me it's more about him tying up a scholarship for 2 years and only being eligible for 1. If he gets an additional year, then the risk is more worth the reward IMO.It's 1 scholarship. There is a good chance that Bush transfers and maybe Darlington transfers or gets talked into taking a Medical Hardship. Darlington can then stay in school but not count against the 85 scholarship limit.
