  1. Because Newby is more of a complete back, and Cross can't run the same plays that the offense can do with Ameer and Newby.
  2. I want the Call Plays that Work offensive identity. LOL
  3. Alex Lewis and Jake Cotton form a very strong left side.
  4. Completion % is a misleading stat because the QB can dink and dunk the ball all over and have a high completion %. The one stat I like to look at for passing efficiency is Yards Per Attempt. TA was 9.3 yards per attempt against FAU. That's pretty good. Going into the season I wanted to see a more vertical passing game. NU definitely did that in game 1.
  5. I was going to post that Rex Burkhead made the Bengals roster. But I thought we could include all former Huskers to make it past final cuts. If it needs to be moved feel free. Please add others that you know of.
  6. There is a difference between talking about the good old days and saying "this is how we did it back in my day, they need to be doing it this way now". I like hearing stories about games or experiences from former players. It's pretty cool. Benning & Sharp had on Jamel Williams earlier this week, and it was funny to hear how Williams wasn't supposed to be blitzing on the sack/safety of Danny Weurffel in the 96 Fiesta Bowl. That's interesting. What isn't interesting is Peter, Foreman, or whomever saying "this is how we did it 20 years ago, they need to do it that way now". To me, that isn't productive.
  7. I understand the reverence some people have for players from the mid-90s. For me, I was at UNL at the time, so these guys were all my age. I am not going to treat someone like a "Husker legend who I have to follow every word of his like gospel" who is my age. It's just my point of view. I would love it if NU was beating teams the way it happened in the 90s, but it's not happening right now. I am not sitting around saying that NU needs to do things the way things were back then. What I do is follow and support the team, regardless of who is coach, and who is playing for the team. I did it for Solich, I did it for Callahan, and I do it for Pelini. I can be critical, when necessary, but I am not sitting around harkening back on things 20 years ago. That's all that some of those former players seem to do.
  8. He played during the greatest Era of Husker football. What the hell else should he compare it to?Husker football then was like a steak. Today, it's like hamburger helper. He's just reminiscing about the steak. Can't blame the guy, drugged out brains or whatever. But that's all Peter talks about. There is a difference. On the radio.....I doubt the guy sits at home each night and yaks about the glory days to his mom on the phone...what else do you talk about on the Nebraska football radio show? Yes, I am sure he gets asked about the glory days, but it's ALL he talks about. He could just as easily say "hey, I played 20 years ago, we did pretty well, and I am ready to support the current players." It's great he wants to get involved and he has passion for the program, but sometimes it just gets old and goes too far.
  9. I always love this one! Also...love, girls that won't step foot near the bars because they are over 27 and fear that each bar in Lincoln is just filled with super hot 21 year old girls that wake up looking amazing. That's why I think the West Haymarket area and cube will be a hit with the 25-40 crowd. Of course, Teach and the rest of his almost 40 friends will continue to go to O Street. Its called "nostalgia" jerk! ha For all the times I didn't hit the bars back then! Yeah, because you were always busy going to the Blue Oyster Bar.

  11. I think the team prayer should be kept private, and really shouldn't have been released in the first place. It's funny because guys like Damon Benning say that the prayer they say now isn't exactly the same one they said back during the 90's, yet they try to say it is.
  12. This department has worked 214 days without a Martinez brother!!!!

  14. Can Jason Peter do any interview without focusing on "how they were back in his day". He sounds like Al Bundy talking about his Polk High days.
  15. Jason Peter killed too many brain cells.
  16. Here you go, brah. http://huskers.com/pdf9/2768949.pdf
  17. St. Paul, my mom is getting that way too. She's in her mid-70s, and her health isn't getting that great. She has trouble getting up to her seats now. I am sure it's sad for her, because it was the one thing that she counted on doing with my dad. They had season tickets together since the 60s, so going to the games together was "their thing". My dad passed away in 2000, and one of my brothers now goes with my mom. She still has fun, but I am sure she misses going with my dad.
  18. Buster, the "glory days" guy can be super annoying at games/tailgates. He's always talking about his high school career and how he should have gotten a D-1 scholly, but his coach was a d*ck.
  19. I'm polo guy on warm days. I don't give a sh#t about looking like the coaches. I just want to look nice and think they are nice shirts. Now we have "wants to look 'nice' guy!!!" I do think the Husker polo is a good look. I am not a fan of this year's Husker coaches polo though.
  20. Teach doesn't like wearing red. Just stop being a fan!!!
  21. I used to be "coach's polo guy" for Husker games. But, I have since gone back to the t-shirt. I guess it depends on the guy wearing the polo, and how wannabe coach nerd he looks while wearing it. I do wear the Husker polo to work on a lot of Fridays. It's business casual!!! I need to update my polo though.
  22. Were you at least wearing red? When I was in college, I had the same short sleeve red shirt that I wore for hot weather games and the same long sleeve red shirt I wore for cold weather games. I never liked the "Husker" gear until recently. No red or anything. I think I even wore a Michigan sweatshirt to a game. Which if I remember correctly pissed off my grandfather. You're just weird then. DRINK!!!! Ha!!
