  1. I always love when the owners say "Hey, I always wanted to have a place where I could hang out, have some drinks with my friends, and have a good time." It's a business, not your own personal play area. Instead of throwing money into a bar, spend that money on making a kick-ass man cave in your basement or garage, and then you can have your friends over for a good time.
  2. what i do not get is how their sales only go up like 20%, as if that is good enough. some of these bars are losing like 10k a month. don't they need like a 120% increase? I think those early reports of sales only going up 20% are decent. I think where most of those bars see their biggest bottom line improvement is in their cost savings. Almost all of those bars over-pour the liquor in their drinks and have crappy draft beer systems which cause so much of the draft beer to be lost in foam. If the bars are getting 20-30% increase in sales, along with a nice bump in margin, then I can see those owners starting to earn money. The owners also see margin improvements in their food by moving to fresh meats and vegetables, rather than frozen.
  3. I agree it's amazing how gross these bars are. The Oasis quickly went back to being a Hookah bar after Taffer left. They are selling shirts that say "Puff, Puff, Taff" as a reference to the Bar Rescue show.
  4. Locke. He was working for Bolton and infiltrated the Nights Watch. He's also the guy who cut off Jamie Lannister's hand in Season 3. He was one bad dude.
  5. I thought this last week's episode was good, as usual. It's filled in a lot of storylines and gave us answers to questions that we may have not known. Lysa is bat-sh*t crazy. Bealish is accumulating quite a bit of territory and power, especially considering he came from nothing. Bran taking over Hodor's body was great to see, especially the way he broke the neck of that guy Great to see Jon Snow being reuinited with his dire wolf was awesome
  6. Only having 10 episodes each season makes it so good. The old network idea of having 24-26 episodes per season leads to half of the episodes being average to bad. With 10 episodes of strong writing and trying to fit everything in, it leads to greatness nearly every episode.
  7. This will sound weird to some...but she is hotter with clothes on. Let me translate for you guys who don't speak TeacherCD. "Her boobs aren't big enough." Well...not big enough AND not as well shaped as I would like. I am kind of a boss when it comes to boobs Translation -- she needs fakers.

  9. Yep me too, got too used to him in that role as the honest well intentioned mayor. Very different character now. I think that's why they have him talk the way he does, in order to distance himself from the Carcutti character. I just love that Lady Stark didn't want any of his Little Finger.
  10. I am not a fan of Baelish. I hate his voice. Plus, the actor will always be Carcutti from The Wire to me!!!
  11. Pretty sure it was the grandmother, Olenna, and Baelish. I don't think it's a spoiler (since it was in this past week's episode) Baelish and Olenna conspires to kill Joffrey.
  12. The hardest part about GoT is the number of characters involved, their names, and remembering them all. I listen to a couple podcasts that review each show, and I still have a hard time with the names of the characters. Favorite current characters -- Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, Maegery (sp?) -- she's hot!!!, Jamie Lannister is interesting to me with the ups and downs his character has had Lease favorites -- Sersei, Bran Stark (don't like his story line right now, but he could be key going forward), Theyon Greyjoy (don't like his plot lines) I would really like it if they focused around the Starks and the Lannisters, they seem to be the most compelling families.
  13. I totally love this show. Been watching it since Day 1 of the first season. I haven't read any of the books, so I agree with the NO SPOILERS mandate.
  14. Pretty interesting thoughts on their selection process. I would like the conference to expand prime time games to BTN to weeks that they would compete with ABC/ESPN in prime time. I don't buy the "fragmented" audience excuse. Generally, I don't watch a lot of the other Big 10 games. They are brutal to watch.
  15. I just think the BTN is trying to get marquee teams (Nebraska) shown in prime time. This is a great move by the conference. The conference needs to be using the BTN to its advantage, and that means more late afternoon and night games, and fewer 11 AM central games. Completely 100% agree. If I could pile on more +1s to this I would. It's amazing that it took the BTN so long to realize "You mean we don't have to schedule all of our games in that early time slot, and show a post game show that no one watches in the prime time slots?"

  17. It's finally great to see the BTN schedule more games at night!!! The conference needs to use this channel and schedule more marquee games on that channel, and at night!!!
  18. How? I don't see this either. Yeah, the team won't get back to Lincoln until Sunday morning. But depending on how the coaches schedule practice this fall, the team won't be missing any practice or film study time. It's not like the coaches are going directly into film study after a game with a normal kickoff. They are chatting with recruits, meeting with the media, relaxing with their families, and so on. The coaches really don't get to work on prep for the next game until Sunday, which they still can do after a late game in Fresno.
  19. Do you follow high school football players on Twitter? Jeffrey Dahmer thinks that's creepy. Do recruiting services or Nebraska media never retweet quotes from recruits talking about Nebraska? Exactly. I follow Nebraska media. They retweet recruits all the time. jump to conclusions much??? I was about to start a business selling a "Jump to Conclusions" mat.

  21. I'm not switching to satellite from Fiber (would be stupid in FL) for one game on a crap network I'll never watch again. Then don't bitch about it not being in HD.
  22. Also, about the complaints about CBS Sports Network not being HD for your cable package. I don't want to tell you how to live your life, but I doubt your cable company forces you to have them for your TV. I have DirecTV and I know that CBS Sports Network comes in HD with them. If you really want it on HD, you can get it at home in HD.
  23. 1. Game will end at 2 am on the east coast. My less get up between 5-6 am. 2. I do have the channel, and it's not HD. Many packed do not have it at all. 3. Don't care. 4. Don't play in high school stadiums on the west coast. +1 on all and I would disagree with his statement in #3 that HS players aren't watching CFB on Saturdays. Here are my reasons for stud HS players not sitting at home and watching CFB on Saturdays. 1. After a Friday night game, he will have to get up early and go watch film with his team. 2. After film study, he will probably go home and want to take a nap. 3. If he is a stud football player, he will probably have a hot girlfriend who will want to hang out with him (and he will probably want to try and bang). 4. For the slight chance he doesn't have a girlfriend, he will have a group of friends that will want to go hang out with (probably trying to find a place to drink or smoke out). 5. With all of reasons 1-4, there is still a group of kids who have a part-time job and will work on the weekends. Now, yes there are the Nebraska high school athletes that do anything to watch the Huskers play on Saturday. But, those aren't typical. I am talking about the random high school player that plays at any state, doesn't really have a favorite college football team, and has a ton of options to do something besides watch college football at home.
  24. Let's see the reasons for complaining about the timeslot and being televised by CBS Sports Network. 1. I don't want to stay up that late to watch the game (come on, it's not that late, have a few drinks and enjoy it) 2. I don't get CBS Sports Network in my cable package (pony up the extra few bucks for the sports package or DirecTV if you want to watch your favorite team) 3. Recruits won't be able to watch the game when it's that late and on a bad network (recruits aren't watching college football on Saturdays anyway) 4. How could NU, Pelini, and Eichorst agree to this time slot? (NU doesn't have any say in this, it's all under the control of the MWC TV rights)
