  1. B10 QBs, I would rank: 1) Wilson 2) Vanderberg 3) Persa 4) Cousins after that, big drop off to: 5-6) TM/Robinson (I honestly think they are a wash...explosive on the ground but bad completion percentages and bad TD-INT ratios. Denard is more explosive but TM is less error-prone) vandy=no. cousins=no. you are looking at it from a pure passing perspective. rushing IS a part of the game and has to be taken into account. i would say that both of our qbs are top 4 in conference for sure. stats arent everything. you cant measure leadership in stats last i checked. and i would argue that both are about the same explosively. you wont see it this weekend because TM has been held back for obvious reasons but he is a very very explosive player. Again BTN has all of that info. As for leadership and intangibles, I would have to say Cousins has to be #1. All you have to do is listen to him talk, very smart and well spoken kid. If you are smart off the field, you are smart on it as well.
  2. Ints. DR #1, TM tied #2 Passing td's DR tied 4th TM tied 7th Passing yards/att's DR #2 TM 6th Passing yards DR 5th TM 7th Pass comp% DR 8th TM 6th Qb rating DR 5th TM 6th You can find it all right here: http://bigtennetwork.stats.com/cfb/leaders.asp?lg=4&cat=28
  3. Well there are about 120 schools with around 100 players. Thats about 12,000 players. They avg about 4 years in a program so 12,000 divided by 4 is 3,000. At the same time most schools (not sec) avg what 22(?) recruits a year? Which is close, as 120 schools times 22 equals 2640 recruits. For the sake of arguement we will go with 3,000. Now lets toss out a 1 and 2 star recruits, which leaves us with 3,4 and 5 star. 3,000 divided buy 3 (3,4 and 5 star) equals about say 1,000 5 star recruits and thats being way generous. Now figure, out of those 1,000 how many want to stay close to home? How many want to play where their parents went to school? How many want to play for their state? How many want to go where a freind or girlfriend of theirs is going? By the time your done, your lucky to get 1, maybe 2, 5 star and 3 or 4, 4 star. Then factor in the whoops clause of sometimes stars dont mean anything. Whats all that mean? You have to be good at developing talent. I know those numbers are pry not even close, I was just trying to prove a point. Look at Vandy, right now they are ranked 25th in recruits. They have (0) 5 star (5) 4 star and (10) 3star. Point is there are not very many high star players and for the reasons I said they are hard to get.
  4. Persa was injured for along time. So back up has seen some play time. It's not like he just came off the wood and torched you guys.
  5. I have no doubt in what you are saying. Maybe some other B10 teams fans can chime in here, but we dont do things like that here. We try and whoop heck out of each other every week, let the chips fall where they may and support who ever comes out on top. Well maybe not OSU, they some cocky a holes there. .
  6. Here is he deal. That can all stay where it is. First rule of football is to be able to spell football. When you guys meet them in a bowl, and you will someday, you will be so much more prepared, from playing so many different O's and D's, we as a confence expect you to take them out back and put a beating on them like no one ever has before. Thats how we roll up north. When it comes bowl time, you have the support of millions of other fans.
  7. Delete. Never mind. You all have a long ways to go in understanding how this all works. Lighten up, sit back and enjoy the ride. There is still ball to play and Nov. in the B10 is all about awesome.
  8. Coker has had a good season but the only stat that he leads Rex Burkhead in is rushing yards by about 80, Rex has a better ypc, TD's. But the biggest difference is who each team played and right now Iowa State/Penn state might have been your best opponent vs ours of your choice, Wisconson, Ohio st, MSU you could even say Washington. I can only imagine the stats Burkhead would have right now with Iowa's current schedule. Here is the break down, like I said it's all about national reconition, as there are several very good rb's in the B10. As for espn, make up your own mind about what they say, but atleast you can admit the top 4 are all pretty darn close to each other. http://bigtennetwork.stats.com/cfb/leaders.asp?cat=2&lg=4. As for sos, give me a break. Out of the games you mentioned you had ONE away game, yet the 2 you mentioned for Iowa were away games. OSU down and missing guys? Wash? Really? I will say you all played MSU very well, but it was your D who won that game for you. I also noticed Coker had almost as many rushing yards against MN as the whole Husker team. You won we lost, I get that, but those rushing yards were against the exact same team. So lets compare apples to apples if you want to get into a pizzing match. I have said Rex is good and so are many other RB's in the B10, what more do you want? Sorry if I am not jumping on the Rex train, given he does not lead in any catagory.
  9. Hey, this guy's back!!! I've been waiting for you, buddy, and it's especially great to learn about how Coker is better than Burkhead. That's the kind of insight we've been missing from you since the last time I saw you! Especially after Coker had such a great game last Saturday... Remind me, who was that against? I never said better. I said you have to be reconized nationally. Rex is a darn good RB, the big 10 has a few of them.
  10. To put it simple, he is a star in Nebraska. Thats it, thats all. I see where espn B10 bloggers give him Mr Oct, which is nice and all, but Coker was reconized nationally, BIG difference. Thats what it takes to win a heisman. I am not saying Coker ever will, but he does have 2 more years after this one to punish the B10. http://www.bigten.org/blog/2011/10/two-big-ten-players-earn-college-football-performance-awards.html
  11. I stopped reading after the "buzz". According to BTN Wisky has the best rushing O and PSU has the best rushing D. http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-footbl/stats/2011-2012/confonly.html
  12. The difference is that Minnesota is, as stated before, bad. They pure and simply just aren't good. ISU in the last decade has never been as bad as Minnesota. Minnesota is littered with young players, and if you were checking out ESPN today, there's an article about how Minnesota is tracking 63 players because of poor grades, making sure they attend classes. There is absolutely no reason and no similarity that I see between Minnesota and ISU. We have little recent history and they're reeling. Nebraska wins this by three touchdowns. I won't be surprised if Minnesota puts up a couple of scores, but our offense is going to destroy their defense more than likely. I think since 05 ( I know not the last 10 years) MN has won 3 more games then ISU. I am not saying MN is good or anything, just saying in a conf where the Huskers could VERY easily of been 0-2 right now (even with the conf being way down), maybe MN is'nt really any worse then ISU. Just something to think about.
  13. Sorry to hear about your boy, and wish him the best. Tough deal for him (and the huskers).
  14. It's not like there's much choice in the matter, which is the real problem. Martinez can't make precision throws, doesn't time his throws well and likes to stare down his receiver. His option reads are iffy from time to time but at least if he blows an option read he can make a play with his feet. IMO we need to run stick with the option and run more. Miama ran on the Buckeyes; hopefully Nebraska can do the same. I agree. It is what it is. Gotta recruit qb not another rb. Kinda gotta run whatcha brung.
  15. Like I said you will win some and lose some, we all do. Keep heads high and win or lose do it with class. I know Bo has a bit of trouble with that concept. Give him time, B10 is not the same as B12 and he will need to recruit a few more classes before you can judge where he is going with your storied program. Since I am a Hawk fan, I cant really wish you luck, as your luck would hurt my team, but I will just leave it at I hope you guys play good games the rest of the year. I will be trying to make it down in Nov, but my wife was told they (friends that still live there) would not look for tickets for her (shes a husker fan and from there) if she was going to give me one (a Hawk fan). I thought that was kinda crappy, but whatever.
  16. Thanks for the welcome, but I disagree with the "all you can do is run" comment. We've got young, talented, and hungry WRs, but we just don't have a competent QB to get the ball to them. Martinez's accuracy drops off severely after 10 or so yards, and we've known that for some time. I think as soon as we get our secondary locked down, our entire defense will become better rather quickly. That, and if we figure out how to utilize our WRs more effectively, our upcoming round 2 between Bucky and Herbie will be a different and better event. Not having a qb that can sling it for two years now, is not a good way to develope WR's. Just saying, they could be world beaters, but without reps, that fades away. Also please dont view these post as bashing, thats not what I am trying to do. I am trying to help you understand what problems you may encounter this year in the B10.
  17. For those that disagree with me, how many rush yards did you have at the first part of the 2nd Q? (low 30's) I think you were on track to avg 120 rush yards for the whole game at the rate you were going. Pass yards, was almost 3 times as much. They shut down your run game and said beat us thru the air, and lets face it option football is NOT for teams that have an air attack. Like I said look at Mich and their record last year, and I hate to tell you this but their air attack is 10 times better than yours. You will struggle alot in the B10 playing that kind of ball. Plus, and again I got hammered for saying this, but even the annousers said it during that game, option qb's take a beating, Which increases the odds of an injury. So it was not play calling. What was called WAS what was working. That first scoring drive tmart fumble, rex fumble. I think the only reason you got a score on that drive was because Wisky coughed it back up and gave you great field position. I know none of you want to hear this, but these are the facts. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=312740275 http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=312740275&period=2
  18. Panther that was a real nice write up. But I think it boils down to you guys suck. Signed a Hawkeye fan. See you in Indy.
  19. I dont know, I have not rewatched the game and had other things going on during it, but it looked to me like your first drives were ok and yes you may have taken them by surprise, but it looked like they adjusted after that and committed to stopping the run and sort of said, go ahead beat us thru the air. Now that the week has started I will rewatch it and pay more attention to the details. Penalties will kill you, but your coaches know that and have been trying to address it. Sometimes that happens if you are just over matched (again I need to rewatch it) Wisky has big lines and that happens to alot of teams they play, Heads up for this week, I know OSU looks really bad right now, but they are fast, I know you guys are as well, but I think most of you are surprised at how fast WI was compared to your own speed, and I am telling you OSU is WAY faster than Bucky. Your lines will have to play a clean game which will be hard again because they come off the ball with extreme speed. Just something to look out for. WI tries to collapse the pocket with size and OSU tries to speed rush you and most years are one of the better schools in the nation at doing it. If OSU is even half what they normally are, I think you will be amazed at just how fast the whole team can play. (not huddle time but play time).
  20. My point was, all you can do is run. Thats going to be a hard row to hoe in the B10, as most teams gear up to stop the run, where as in the B12 most everybody was sold on stopping the air attack. I know you are all new to the conf and do not know what to expect and it showed in WI, but please dont feed Buckys ego by saying they are NC or top 5 team, as they are not. I suspect you will see some B10 teams give Bucky a run for the money and they may be teams that you guys hammer, thats kind of how it goes around here. You all had/have alot on your plate this year and every week is going to be tough, it's hard to get ready for all those new teams. Anyway keep your heads up and take it week by week.
  21. So first off welcome to the B10! I really thought you all would keep it closer than that, but I also thought a 10 point spread was about right. So with that said, the spread doesnt work in the B10 and neither does the option. It is to one dimensional. I was here awhile back and got hammered for bringing up such things and was met with "we have speed", "we have more talent", so what do you think now? I am not here to rub anything in as I had no dog in the fight. But what you as Husker fans must realize, is this is'nt the B12 where trickery can get you by. It will take Bo a few years and as I have said before, give him time. He knows what it takes to compete in the B10 every week and will be fine, it may not come soon enough for the fans, but it will come in time. You will win some this year, but you will lose some more as well. All you have to do is look at the hole Mich dug for themselves, because that is about where you are. It's a game and not the end of the world, so lighten up and enjoy it. Don't take any team for a cup cake, as that would be your first mistake. Have fun and enjoy your season as a Husker fan AND a B10 fan, it is bound to be a heck of a ride, just like every year is.
  22. Is that right. What you say Bucky? Would you rather play the Hawks, State or Washy? Well, we usually play Iowa every year, but the B1G decided to royally screw that up. As far as the non-conference slate this year, Washington over Oregon State. The Badgers just fell victim to Oregon State sucking big time this year. Washington was a good test for NU, and would've been a good test for us. Is that right. What you say Bucky? Would you rather play the Hawks, State or Washy? Yeah, how dumb do you have to be to mess with that game? Just an fyi the Huskies are like 45-76 (or close to that) from 01 to 2010, Infact in 08 they won 0 games and in 04 they won 1. And O St. is something like 74-51. Which team is better this year remains to be seen, but everybody knows those games are scheduled years in advance.

  24. Thats it, right there. I will say thou I wouldnt go comparing Wisky to a team that had a RB by vote (Mizzu).
