  1. The correct response coming from Bo should have been, "Tommie was arguably one of the best if not the best college QB of all time and won two championships here at Nebraska. I know he's frustrated like we all are. We are doing out best and I feel confident in moving forward and having great success this season." Or something like this. A coach and representative of NU should know when to take the high road, can you imagine TO saying something like Bo did? I am sure the athletic department is none too pleased...
  2. Wow, great post and I agree with everything you said and thank you for the chart. Looking at that, I realize what a disaster Callahan was, how Solich got screwed for the most part, how incredible Tom Osborne was (still remember that Penn State game where they beat us by catching that pass 5 feet out of bounds:( and how looking at Pelini's record over the past 5 years, I see the no improvement and that is what really scares me. You combine the lack of "getting better" with the blow-out losses, meltdowns and lack of identity on both sides of the ball and I don't see how we move forward with him as the HC? And people keep saying, but he is still winning and posting 9 or 10 wins but we also play 2-3 cream-puffs each year, can't beat a ranked team, embarrass ourselves in national TV games and have a coaching staff that says they "don't know?" when asked what the problems are. Obviously, Pelini will coach out the rest of the year, but in my mind, if he loses 2-3 more games and posts another 9-4 or 10-4 season, I think it's going to be an interesting summer...that would be 6 years of no improvement:(
  3. It's Tommie "Freaking" Frazier, in my mind he can say anything he wants and has earned that right. I can't believe some posters are apologizing for him or what he said...it's been 6 years of this! Every year games where we just fall apart and embarrass ourselves. I am tired of it as I know a lot of you are. And for Tommie, it's more personal and emotional as a former player than any of us can understand I am sure....
  4. This post could have easily been made during many of the Tom Osborne years in the Big 8.......when we'd lose to Oklahoma then lose a bowl game. It's funny, I remember people saying the same thing under TO before we won some NC's but I now feel guilty for ever being upset with 1 or 2 loses each season. After the last 6 years or even 9 years, I would gladly go back to that era and keep my mouth shut. It's not jus the losses but the way we lose and the points and yardage we are giving up and little to no improvement...
  5. Having grown-up and lived in Nebraska and now in Arizona, I still like the fact of having a head coach with some NU ties. It just makes rooting for the team and traditions more enjoyable and I guess special. Giving a guy like Frost would be fine with me, even if it's on-the-job-training for him as a HC. I would rather lose a few more games in season 1 and 2 with Frost then keep Pelini and continue this "sad" trend or hire an outside coach who comes in ala Callahan and destroys our culture and traditions. Obviously, a lot of you will disagree and just want the best coach for the job regardless of their history or lack of ties to the program.
  6. I think the fan base would be up for it, more forgiving or understanding of a former husker instead of bringing in a guy with no ties...
  7. I would be happy with bringing Frost in...love keeping it in the family and Oregon is just tearing it up!
  8. Scott Frost could be interesting. Oregon is tearing it up against Tennessee and he's a hometown kid, etc.
  9. What other former Huskers are out there making a name for themselves as coaches? Scott Frost obviously and ???
  10. You've got to be kidding. How do you write off a whole quarter of football and if you think for a second we held them in the 4th quarter....UCLA just started chewing clock. They had it in the bag and knew it. We were defeated, demoralized...we quit. I can't spin this thing positive...at all. We've played one good full game this year and it was against a team that's currently riding a 15 game losing streak with a new head coach. This team has become an embarrassment....and I'm trying my best to not be too negative cause my BP can't handle it. What he said!
  11. Let TO take over as HC for rest of season, Bo can move back to DC:)
  12. Yeah I agree. I mean at least you have hope then for the coming years. I don't feel like the team is going to break through under Bo so.... And the argument about firing a successful coach and who would come here....money talks. Top programs shouldn't be afraid to get rid of coaches that are successful but can't take the next step. Football has changed a lot in 10 years. Totally agree. With Bo still here, what hope is there for next year and the season(s) after that? More Beck calling insane plays? More defensive melt-downs? I don't know, I am tired of it.
  13. I have to agree too. Six years is a very long time to get your own guys/recruits in and start making this your team. But for Bo, this should be the end of the line. Remember under TO how we came out in the second half and dominated and wore the opponent out. We have gotten so far from the running game that our offense is now that of desperation throws and as result Martinez today went from brilliant to horrible, one of his really bad games in the second half. I like having a coaching staff with ties to NU so maybe go get Frost or some other NU alums lurking around but enough is enough. We need to stop the bleeding. And you know there will be 2-3 more games this season where we look like this again. Giving up 500+ yards every week, just can't take it anymore.
  14. I still blame this one on the momentum change at the end of the first half. We are up 21-3 and get the ball back with :57 seconds and suddenly revert to a conservative plan, go 3 and out and allow UCLA to make some big plays and kick a field goal. They miss but they go into the locker room with some confidence and energy where as we were on our heels just trying to stop them on those last few plays. They come out in the seconds half and keep the momentum going, we go conservative once again. Suddenly, we forget we have 3 awesome running backs and have Martinez pass the entire time. A few more 3 and outs and UCLA scores in a row and game over. If we would have kept that momentum in the first half going, maybe even tried to get a field goal at the end of the first half, different game and story. Obviously there are other factors and scenarios, but this is when the game changed...
  15. National TV game makes this even more embarrassing. Out of Top 25, Another season with 4-5 losses? Suckola!
  16. Not only is this game over, it's a rout and completely gotten away from us. Pelini's 6th year and nothing changes. Time for a change...
  17. What a total meltdown on all sides of the ball. Thanks Bo.
  18. Why do we have running backs if Beck doesn't use them? Fu$&. This is going to be Pelini's worst loss yet. Out coached, outplayed, out everything.
  19. He's been getting held the ENTIRE game, not even kidding! How the officials aren't seeing that is amazing to me..........although it shouldn't be. Let's see if Beck can pull his head out of his a$$ now that the game is close again. He seems to crawl inside a shell if we get up by a couple TD's. I've never been sold on him and probably never will, he's playing calling is way too inconsistent. What he said.
  20. Wow:(. First quarter and a half we looked like NU of the 90's and now we look like a Bo Pelini team. This could get ugly...
  21. Yup. First half rushing QB and getting stops then momentum turns, ucla gets confidence and we r in trouble:(
