  1. I expect a through ass beating. The Holladay Bowl was becasue the team didn't care to be there for many reasons. Granted it was thier fault for choking the CCG away, but I understand why it was hard for them to get fired up for that game. If anything it showed how much we regressed in the second half of the season. But because of that game and they way they acted, it won't be hard for them to get ready to whip them in our house.
  2. Iowa and Michigan suck so MSU is the only team that good enough to take the division from us, at least this year. In a couple of years when Michigan can rebuild their defense, then yes it will be tougher than the North, but as of now, it's about the same.
  3. A MNC run would be great, but to be more realistic, progress at this point is winning the conference. We have been brides maids two years in a row, it's time to break thorough that glass ceiling and get back to a BCS Bowl. Anything less than a conference title is not progress and will be a setback for Bo.
  4. I don't. I see it as a new play caller having someone with experience with him in the booth. if Cotton is going to get involved in play calling, Beck is screwed! No this means we will have the same pathetic offense that we had under Frank and he ran at ISU. This is terrible news if he is actually going to have anything to do with the play calling. He needs to just go away, he sucks and this will be Bo's toughest challenge. Can he fire a friend for the betterment of the team? It was a huge part in Callahan's failure with Cozgrove, I hope Bo has the ball to do what Bill didn't. So you are happy with the Frank/Barney 4 play offense. How long do you think it will take the opposition to realize that they only have to stop a FB Trap, QB Trap, Short Side Option play, and a short passing play? Barney with more responsibility is a bad thing. He can't even field a competent OL, how is he supposed to help Beck?
  5. 1-AA, so this is ok with you? It's a joke that all Jamrog has scheduled is teams like this. We all know that playing a Colorado type schedule is stupid, but you should always have one marquee game, one lower BCS type team and two easy wins. Unless I'm mistaken, all Jeff has scheduled is a bunch of easy wins. No, I would rather we play at least one, if not two games against BCS schools and then have the remaining be non-BCS schools. You and I agree on how the schedule should be made, it's really the only logical way of doing it. But Jeff needs to schedule somebody with a heartbeat soon, or he's looking like a huge hypocrite.

  8. Jamrog is so full of sh#t. Does anyone remember this quote when this tard was handed this made up position by TO? What an Fing hypocrite, all talk and still schedules sh**ty teams.
  9. Not really. I don't know what Oklahoma ran in the Wilkinson era, but it wasn't Switzer's wishbone, which isn't anything close to their passing offense these days. Texas followed a similar path of change. USC used to be Tailback U, but under Carroll they are much more balanced, if not pass oriented, and usually feature a QB ready to step right into the pros--unless he's Matt Leinart, who should've been ready. Ohio State hasn't been "3 yards and a cloud of dust" in years. These teams all evolved over the years, and sometimes made dramatic changes away from what they were. Osborne certainly evolved, as others pointed out. Anybody who thinks we had 25 years of power option is dead wrong. What? 1980 - 2003 is pretty damn close to 25 years. How often does NU get recruiting classes rated as high as Texas, Ohio State, USC & Oklahoma? Duh! Surely I don't need to type out why? We tried being a "balanced" offense like everyone else under Callahan with truly massive disastrous results. How much total failure do you really want? NU proved for decades we can run the ball with authority with some good rbs and well developed road-graders. Trying to "pretend" we can stand toe to toe with Ohio State, Texas, ect and play the same type of NFL offense is a losing game for NU. We've got our nitch, our identity, our tradition with smashmouth. We can win and win big with it. I think Bo will. GBR!! ps.....yeah Devaney won big without it due to two reasons...."Devaney" & the Jet. Imo, we haven't had anyone as good as the Jet since his last year (1972). Dudes like him don't grow on trees. The offensive numbers we got from Osborne/Frazier/Frost and that OLine are just sick, so I didn't even look at them. I just looked at 1998 to the present. We remember which years it seemed like our offense either wasn't in sync (or just plain smelled like feet) and which years it felt like we were productive. 400-ish YPG seemed to be comfortable. Measurably more than 400 YPG and we had a dangerous offense. Measurably less and we were poor. Here's what we've produced year-by-year: 1998 - 385 (Solich w/Newcombe) 1999 - 398 (Solich w/Crouch) 2000 - 460 (Solich w/Crouch) 2001 - 451 (Solich w/Crouch) 2002 - 373 (Solich w/Lord)...weak 2003 - 345 (Solich w/Lord)....awful 2004 - 363 (Callahan w/Dailey)....stinkful 2005 - 320 (Callahan w/Taylor)....horrible 2006 - 415 (Callahan w/Taylor) 2007 - 468 (Callahan w/Keller) 2008 - 451 (Pelini w/Ganz) 2009 - 323 (Pelini w/Lee)....horrible 2010 - 398 (Pelini w/Martinez) Production under Bo seems to have mirrored our production under Callahan: About the same as the year before he took over; horrible second year; quantum leap in offensive output in Year #3. Our offensive improvement under BC seemed for all intents and purposes to be on the right track & sustainable. It was the defense that got us disgruntled, not the offense. (I, personally, was VERY gruntled with our offense) Bo is going into his 4th year. He's got a returning QB for a change. If our offensive production can stay at the 400 YPG level, we'll be...meh, okay. But if it can climb to the 425-450 range, then I think with our defense, we could be contending for the B1G title. But we can't fatten up against the Arkansas States and then only get 250-300 YPG against our quality opponents. If we can keep it heading in the right direction, I'll feel a lot better about Barney & the OL. But if we regress back down to 350 or worse this year, especially against good teams, it will be very frustrating. __________________
  10. Me either, I'm more scared of tOSU than I am PSU. I don't expect to totally blow them out since it's in thier stadium. I do expect a 10-17 point win with NU putting it out of reach midway through the 4th. This is all based on NU having a decent OL this year. In which I'm not totally sold on yet since I don't trust Barney and think he needs to go.
  11. I've always seen NU as NEB over there. Which is fine since we are the new guys.
  12. I wouldn't have fired Danny in the first place. This program can be successful, but we need TO to get the F out for it to happen. We didn't say great, we are saying that we shouldn't be a laughing stock like it has been since Knee was fired. And the Big 8 was no worse than the Big 12 is now. So you are failing on all of your points.
  13. The 1990's showed that NU Bball can be successful if you have the right coach and an AD that will care about the program. Sadler sucks and needs to be shown the door, but TO is too big of a pu&&y to fire anybody so we give him an extension. That makes perfect sense.
  14. From Sipple's "inexcusable" article Mr. Beranek's statement is indicative of the culture in this program. The problem with this team is not external, as in, no fan support. The problem is that despite 100+ years of pretty much nothing, this team still doesn't have the fire it needs to beat a mediocre first-round opponent in the Big XII tournament. I just don't see how you can be anything but judgmental towards this team's season. Teams from schools with 1/2 the enrollment and facilities ten times worse play with more passion than these guys. It's not the fan's fault that we're being judgmental, it's the team not giving us anything to feel good about. At all. For 100 years. I can't believe this kid said this. How about trying not to be too scared to shoot? Then get Almedia to lose about 40-50lbs, Diaz to stop being a big pu&&y and get useless players like Ubel out of the program and that will be a start to getting NU an respectable program. And then there is a little problem of having to find a HC with a clue on how to call a play a the end of a game. Doc sucks at late game coaching and it rubs off on the players playing stupid in those situations.
  15. I think we already have our thread of the year!
  16. They have to publicly list the openings for a certain amount of time even though they already know who they want to hire. It's a dumb technicalitie. That time peroid ends the 17th of February, ( I think it in one of Sipple's article's)so expect it on the 21st. (the first Monday after the listing expires)
  17. Facts? Do you mean facts like the fact that Watson was told the offense we were going to run prior to the bowl game last year, was given a chance to find another job if he couldn't get on board, tried very hard to find said job, could not find said job, and was then allowed to remain on staff while we changed offensive schemes, all the while knowing what was coming down the pike? You mean those kinds of facts? Because if we're not talking about those kinds of facts, we may as well not be talking about this. Watson's hands were not tied. Watson knew full well what was going on, and he opted in. The decision was his - find a new gig, step down, or stay at Nebraska in 2010 and run an offense geared more toward a running game than a WCO. Shawn Watson wanted a paycheck in 2010, and when he couldn't get it anywhere else, he took the one Bo offered him. Watson has nobody to blame for that but himself. If he didn't want to run this offense and he didn't want to use the QB we used, the door was available. The decision was not Watson's, it was Bo's. Bo is the head coach and makes all of the decisions. If Bo wanted to change the offense that drastically in a way we didn't have the talent, nor the experience to run, is on him. He should have found a different OC last year. To quote a famous American, what are you, 12? Welcome to football, where the Head Coach calls the shots. Watson knew full well what kind of offense we were running in 2010 back in January. He had every opportunity to move on, in whatever capacity, and he didn't. If you're going to fault Bo because he trusted Watson when Watson told him, "I want to run your offense," then you have problems with Bo that have nothing to do with this situation. The decision to stay at Nebraska belonged to one guy, and one guy only. Shawn Watson. Nice try, but your lame attempt makes no sense. Bo is the HC, he's in charge and is responsible for the results end of story. It doesn't matter how much Watson wanted to coach his offense if he's the wrong fit.
  18. Far as I know, it's the same thing with Frost - Warinner didn't want to come here on what would be a lateral transfer, and he opted to stay where he is / stability. Beck taking over the OC role probably screwed any chance we had to get Warinner or Frost. Regarding Frost being a douche - I felt the same way back in the late 90s. The guy won games, but he rubbed me the wrong way. Then I met him, had several conversations with him in the past few years, and my opinion has very much changed. Sure, he's a confident guy - very few NFL players lack confidence - but whatever D-baggery I saw or thought I saw in the 90s was gone. He was a regular guy, talking football with me, a very regular guy. Liked his dad, too. Very much liked his mom. When I met Frost he had zero reason to talk with me, but he took time to talk quite a number of times, for basically no reason. I have a hard time thinking he's a D-Bag these days. You are right about Frost, it just didn't make sense for him to come here right now. It was bad timing, he has a chance to stay and learn under Kelly or come to NU for the same job and learn under who? So it was either be the OC or stay at Oregon and he hasn't done enough to deserve that job yet, so it's best that he just stays where he's at. Maybe down the road when the timings is better, he will come home. I still think he's a cocky douche for other reasons, but that's just me.
  19. Question, when you say "3 out 4" coaches have been hired, do you count Beck's promotion in that count? If so, will Bo only hire 1 offensive coach to replace Wats and Gilmore and just go with 1 coach less? If not, who is the third coach? Els and Raymond are the defense. 1 new offensive coach has been hired and 1 more spot on offense to fill. Beck was just promoted and not counted in the new hires. That is pretty much what I've heard too. Nobody knows who the one who is hired is or who they are looking at. If anyone says that they do, then they are full of sh#t. And Sipple was correct, it seems like we have struck out on Warriner, Frost and everyone else we have talked too. The other day you were certain with Warinner. What happened with that? Have you heard? Scott was right, apparently it broke down and now I've heard from several people that Beck is the OC.
  20. What are you 12? It's really Watson's fault that Bo tied his hands by making him run an offense he knows nothing about and made him use a QB that he didn't want to use and was crippled because of our crappy OL for half the season? Now it's better for both that he moves on, but look at the facts. And look at your precious Solich staff, 90% of them are gone too. And Brown is the only one that is worth a dam. Cotton is by far the worst coach on the staff. I wished I shared your enthusiasm about our future because I don't see it yet. Let's see, Bo was the DC and he's still here. Ron Brown was on Solich's staff, and he's still here. Barney Cotton is still here. How many of the pieces from Solich's staff are we really missing? We have the OC on Solich's staff and the DC on Solich's staff here now. Plus, Bo picked Carl up off of Solich's Ohio staff. While I agree with you on Watson, I definitely don't see eye to eye with you on Solich. I'm talking about offense, because Bo's defense carried Frank's crappy offense too. It amazes me how people forget how predictable Franks offense was. It was just as bad as what we had the last two years. Look at the stats, the 2003 offense was worse than the 2002 team.
