  1. Has nothing to do with '95. Watching football today I see how MANY other teams can do things we dont do. My number one thing is how our scheme doesnt let our Dline try to penetrate and disrupt things in the backfield or ever allow our rush ends to speed rush esp on passing downs. At least i hope its the scheme. Maybe its the talent, i dont know. I need to reword the post i guess. Bo says the system works, and I think that we have to take him at his word. Also, he has more then proven in the past that the system DOES work.... I am more alarmed with the dropoff in DLine play this year, with pretty much the same guys as last year. It makes me question the coaching of JP, since he was taking on the role of coaching the DLine this year, and Carl was focusing on the D as a whole. Promoting JP to DC would be a mistake in my opinion.
  2. Those who fail to post valid points, resort to comical youtube videos.... I take it you're a fan of theirs? You must be pretty excited about the new episodes on MTV.....
  3. Are you implying that Southern Miss has better players (athletes) then we do?? Really?? How many Lavonte Davids, Fonzo Dennards, Burkheads, Cricks, etc. do they have?? I love how the guy lists the four best players on this team, 3 of which are graduating seniors, and then puts a little etc. on the end of that. LOL. Some of your posts make me laugh. You care to fill in more of those names? What if Southern Miss does recruit consistently more talented players than Nebraska? Or what if their coaches just develop lesser talented players better than we do? Anyone can come on here and name our best players and the say "etc." I hate to inform you that there are a lot of teams out there that don't just rely on 4 guys to carry their team. You gonna sit here and try to tell me that Burkhead didn't carry this offense this year? You gonna try to tell me that when we lost Crick our defensive line didn't fall apart? How would this team have faired without Fonzie and David out there? Yea, that's what i thought. Every team has playmakers, but lots of other teams get consistent play from nearly every position on the field. Not great play, but consistent play. Don't be surprised if Southern Miss comes in here next year and plays a tough game. Explain to me what Crick did for the d-line. It stunk when he was still playing and it stunk after he got hurt. Yes, who the hell is Crick? The guy wasn't missed at all on the defensive line this year. You trolls got to get help. Are you being serious? Yeah, Crick was a good player, but we didn't skip a beat without him. Granted, the results were just as underwhelming as they were with him, but IMO he made almost NO difference on the D-line. In fact, him getting injured may have been a blessing in disguise because we got experience for guys like Chase Rome, Jay Guy, and a couple other guys that will really be valuable going into next year. Logic/Reality doesn't sit well with this guy.... Are you being serious? What is there to disagree with? Left myself open with that.... I was actually agreeing with you, and the logic/reality comment was towards truered guy, the one you were talking too... my bad...

  6. That would be a lot of egos, I just can't see that happening. Although, I would be all for it....
  7. Lost in my own argument? You're stating things that I didn't even say (like the bolded above). Obviously Dennard is great, same for Rex. What team wouldn't be the same without their best players. I am in no way downgrading either of them, some of the best we've had in awhile. You keep defending Crick (this years version), and there is no defense for him...He was average at best this year, and there was zero-to-little falloff after he got hurt. No trolling here, just providing a guy with logic (cuz he needs it).....

Don't be surprised if Southern Miss comes in here next year and plays a tough game. What other posts of mine have entertained you? Naturally, if I was comparing top talent (which I was) I would point out some of our best players. In what situation, when comparing talent, would someone compare Nebraska's middle of the road players to Southern Miss. best players? That would be pretty stupid wouldn't it? That would be like someone saying that we land similar recruits as Bama, and then the Bama guy pointing out Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, Richardson, Hightower, T. Cody, etc..... then one of us (you) saying "well yeah if you name off your top players". Yes, if you set aside Nebraska's top 15 or so players, then I am sure that Nebraska and Southern Miss. have similar talent. Anyone that actually thinks that we won 9 games this year with 4 guys, needs to learn how to reevaluate a football team, and all the contributing parts. Rex did carrry this team, but losing Crick?? There was no drop off there, although the play with Crick wasn't good either. Good post bud..... Yes, Nebraska top fifteen players blow away any talent Southern Miss has. LOL Have you watched Southern Miss? They look like some decent players out there in my opinion. And yeah, your right. Fonzie didn't shut down the top recievers of every single team we played.........which I'd say shutting down B.J. Cunningham, McNutt and company probably did take some points of the board. He shuts down a whole side of the field and the teams best playmakers. Oh yea, and that Crick guy? Who the hell is he. Losing him didn't hurt us at all. LOL. Great post bud........ Where did I say that Dennard didn't shut down the other teams best receiver?? I didn't say that. As for Crick, he was having an Big Ten Honorable-Mention type year. The lack of pressure from the DLine was just as much a problem with Crick as without. The best game our DLine played was against Mich. St. (without Crick). Now having said that, Crick was a great player his first three years, and I wonder if his fall off in play this year wasn't more due to the fact that JP was coaching the DLine, and Carl was focusing on the Defense as a whole.

Don't be surprised if Southern Miss comes in here next year and plays a tough game. The OP was complaining that we can't recruit guys like Lampley. One player for them, who is a junior. It's not unlikely we look at Kenny Bell in two years and say I'm glad we can recruit players like him. It's not impossible for Southern Miss to have a deeper team than us. It is stupid to whine that our players aren't as good when we don't even know what we have yet. Top to bottom (including our best players), there isn't much of a comparison from a recruiting standpoint. It would probably be a great game, but there is a lot more going into the outcome of a game, more then recruits, and talent.

  12. This is true. And then there is the chance that Larry Fedora leaves. His name is appearing a little more every day. Another good point.... He has the look of a good coach, glad to see Houston go down today, they were way overrated....
  13. He actually got cut recently. So this is a promotion. It getting signed by the 0-11 Colts a promotion from being cut?? I can see the phone ringing, Mike notices who it is, trys to make a run for it (like so ).... , only to find Curtis Painter and Coach Caldwell waiting at his door as he slings it open....
  14. Starting QB is a senior (threw for over 3000 yds this year), best WR is a senior as well. Their leading rusher (600 yds.) is a freshman. They lost two games in the CUSA, one of those were to UAB, which got beat by FAU (1-10) last week.... It should be a good test, but they are losing guys...
  15. Sounds like Big Suh needs to get his hands on Rodgers... Quite him down....
  16. Someone other than Alabama. They had their shot. They blew it. Just like Nebraska blew some games and isn't in the BIG championship. Hell, we beat Michigan state (who's playing tonight) and lost to Wisconsin. Do we deserve to be there in a rematch against Wisc - no. Granted, we have three losses, but you lose games during the regular season in your conference & aren't the conference champion, then there's not way you should be able to back door into the national title. If there was another undefeated team (not Houston) then I would agree that they should get the go over Bama, but all contenders have a loss, and Bama has the best loss.... I just dont see the argument here.
  17. Just look at the losses by the cotenders. Stanford (lost to #9 Oregon) Okie St. ( lost to unranked Iowa St.) Virginia Tech ( got smoked by #20 Clemson) Alabama ( lost to #1 LSU) Now tell me who deserves to play LSU in the title game. Virginia Tech has a chance to avenge their only loss. If they win this time - when it counts the most - shouldn't that mean the first loss doesn't count and they deserve a shot at the national title as a major conference champion? Of course, but then you have to compare losses.... Alabama (#1 LSU), then VT (unranked Clemson by 20 points).... So its still Bama by a long shot... In my opinion Bama, Okie St., and Stanford all have better cases then VT, cuz the ACC is horrible....
  18. I would agree that it isn't very interesting, but it is the right matchup.
  20. I don't understand the "give someone else a shot" argument. It is very obvious who the two best teams in th country are. You don't always have to prove your "championship stature" in November, but in the National Championship game it is necessary. So that is why I would be fine crowning Bama the champs if they won the NC game against LSU. Bama would have won it, when it counted the most.
  21. Alabama would make Boise State look silly....As would LSU, and probably Okie State.... I agree. But they were definitely in the picture. That's all I'm saying. I agree with that.
