  1. So i would say i am a member of a christian church that my wife grew up in. i was raised catholic but find most of there beliefs and the way the church is run as a bunch of bull. if gods real and loves all why do catholic religions and others frown upon homosexuals? why do they think they are the all mighty and the only correct religion? my uncle said to me once that he is a catholic and anyone who is not will go to hell. i cant help but laugh at that if god loves all why on earth would he send people who believe in him to hell just because of the CULT they chose to follow and lead them on the path to heaven. i think thats another reason god and religion are hard to believe is because you can stand up and make your own religion up and people will follow. im not saying thats a bad thing because i think if hes real and does love us no matter what we believe or follow will take us to heaven and god was prepared for this in that he sent jesus down to die for our sins. so i am taking my own journey to find god because i want it to be pure and from my heart not someone from church telling me what to do or believe. my wife knows what i am doing but we do not talk about it for the same reasons of if or when i find god i will be clear minded. she knew when we got married i was not a believer and did not like but loved me for me not my religious views. before my search began i would say i did not believe in anything religious that death is death no more no less and while im not sure if god is whatever people want him to be or not i do believe in a higher power now. i have been a alcohol user since i was 16 and over the last three it was very heavy. i would not say i was addicted but i was an alcoholic in the sense i cant stop once i start and was drinking 4-5 days a week and 18-24 cans a day but only after i was off. i did not attend aa nor did anyone force me stop i just simply chose one day that i was not going to drink anymore and have been sober since. like i said i did not wake up and need a drink but if was offered i could not refuse nor did i stop after the first one but i have no urge to say yes to one nor do i want one at all. i have never smoked but people say they taste bad after you stop thats how alcohol looks to me know. i dont know if this is too personal of a story but had i not started my search before this i know that i would not have the will power to stop drinking and now that i have i see my flaws much more clearly now and what else i need to work on. it might be a mind thing in the fact that i am seeking god so i think i have more power then i did before but if thats true im OK with that. i have since stopped chewing tobacco and became a much healthier person in my diet as well. i am not a believer yet that god is real as others would tell me in crazy for not seeing him work in me but i also think it can be my mind feeling more powerful do to the fact i chose to take this journey. i will tell you i pray when i can and try to read the book when i have some time and at the least its a verse a day. i will tell you whatever it is my life has changed for the better. I also pray all the time that the huskers will win a champions ship again soon! they say he doesn't answer selfish prayers but thats one worth trying for. i love the topic its such a great read what you people write about and the never ending evidence to back both sides up. this topic unless closed could go on forever as religion is a huge debatable topic.
  2. great story! my question is do you think this guy had a lot to do with it? i know hes a coach and calls plays so sure he did have an impact but team unity can make a lot of mediocre teams successful with coaches that aren't that great.
  3. Sweet that works for me too since i can't find this any key so i can put in the secret handshake.
  4. You're right, Devany didn't do that to TO. well thats not who i was referring to i was thinking more along the lines of steve pederson. is that name allowed to be said on here? i don't think steve did much of anything but spend money around here because i know our athletics were not that good when he was here. do you think that tom having a say is a bad thing? i mean if he stays a few more years he might start to back out on input but i think where we were as far as the shape the athletic department was in he needed to take matters into his own hands. if he does or he doesn't have a big say in what goes on i still like where our sports programs are headed and how much better then before Tom came back.
  5. as much as i love Bo. tom is in a class of his own even in those responses you feel his composure and knowledge. i don't want Bo to lose his edge but man i wish he would learn a thing about the press from Tom. Theres no doubt in my mind that since he came back as AD that he has had his hands in the decisions made on the football staff but that being said i also think hes doing in all sports but thats what his job title says and our previous AD did not do that.
  6. well i just want to thank the person who sent me the pm and told me the secret handshake so i can now post. thats a huge relief but again thank you all for letting me know what i needed that and again for the pm on what it is.
  7. 100 posts? this is not going well for me i knew that i had the chance of not being liked on here but how can i even throw my opinions out there without the hand shake? do you think if i started a topic in every category about it i might get a reply or will i just have to wait and see if someone reads my topic? i have to say though i feel kind of important since my topic got moved but at the same time the place i started it was a much better traffic are so my odds are low that i will learn this handshake. we will have to wait and see i guess. thanks for the heads up guys on the handshake good looking out.
  8. NO! who do i ask to teach me the hand shake? should i start a new topic to ask who can teach me? i cant do that either since i don't know the handshake i cant post man this sucks. well if anyone views my topic please help me with this i need to learn the handshake!!
  9. what do you consider younger crowd? if in 1994 you were not in junior high yet? then i would fall into that category of young crowd. i do think he is a bad ass but to an extent i care what he does. i think he needs to rip on these kids if they mess up or do something against team rules. should he do it on the sidelines during national television probably not, but at the same time we all know coaches do it so i dont get why its that big of a deal and they might not get paid but most get a free education. the ranting and raving of penalties get old but i dont know many people who aren't tired of that. i think he represents the university well i think the heart on his sleeve is awesome and the fire he brings every week is great but he gets out of control sometimes and makes mistakes. i honestly can tell you for me if hes a 10+ a year guy i would love for him to be around a long time. this day in age with recruiting rules being a lot more fair and smaller colleges coming around and showing with talent they will compete i can handle a consistent program. i also might have a little more tolerance for it because what he has done to this program in three years from where it was he really hasn't had much time to work on his own flaws. i don't know if all is true about Watson but i think Bo has great morals. do they sometimes not show on the big screen ya but we are humans and we make mistakes and no one corrects them the first time. i don't know many people that would do what he is with the coaching staff and helping them get jobs. another thing for me is when u search him how many articles you see about him with past staff or players saying anything negative about him? i hear a lot of people say will hurt recruiting but what they see on TV doesn't seem anything like who he is behind the scenes. obviously kids and parents see that with the talent that is coming here the last few years.
  10. Hi to all i am new to the husker forum. i have been checking the site out for a few weeks just to see how it was and what the topics were like. i love husker football and also try and keep up on baseball and volleyball no explanation necessary for the volleyball I'm sure. i tried basketball but i just am not a fan of the sport at all. i think they are talented people but i cant watch it. i hope to get to know you guys a little better as the weeks pass and i am a Bo fan.
  11. im new to this site and joined because of the freedom to give your opinions and i have to say my brain just got fried reading what you guys wrote and i understood about 1/7 of it and i would call it a tie because religion discussion is a loss on both sides and can go on forever. when i was in high school if there was a speaker coming to school and i could be out of classes for a few hours. he could have talked to me about anything he wanted as long as i could get out of class i didn't care. the only reason it came up is because of parents and they always need to complain about something at there school.
  12. i have to agree with a few of you that i don't get why everyone is upset with him. i think he is what we need to keep this team going in the right direction. the fire in him shows up in his players as well and they want to play for him. the media can say what they want about him but if i was a coach looking for a job i think it would help us with the way hes handling it. would you rather coach at Nebraska where your HC looks out for you or an Alabama where if u don't make it your gone out the door no questions asked. i know where i would try and get a job at if it was me and I'm sure most people would too. also whats wrong with a 10+ wins every year? i dont think if tom is still ad and bo is winning 10+ games each year even if offense doesnt turn around he gets to change the offense and not lose his job. i think if anything bo leaves on his own due to people forgetting what he has done since he got here and should be tired of the harsh criticism he gets from fans.
  13. I don't think the way it went and is going down was really how Nebraska wanted it to go. should he say more to them to smooth the press over and calm what they are writing about the Huskers i would say no.everyone is upset about the "situation" but in all reality why do we need to know all this information as it happens? i think its ridiculous that we the fans and the press think we need to tell the world every time someone there farts. if everyone stopped worrying so much about the back office stuff most of this would have been avoided, i don't work for the university or am i a member of the staff and i do not play at Nebraska so why is it our business whats going on there. i know we are fans and everything that the Huskers do is important to us but honestly we really have no right to know whats going on behind the doors as it happens . if coaches get fired or leave when new ones are hired then we should be told thats it nothing else. I don't see how this is being done without class in the sense that Bo has hired and fired no one and from what i have heard they are helping Watson look for a job. if that is true i know for myself that i have never had a job that i worked and my employer said hey we are going a diff route so in the next few weeks see what you can find and i will call around too. also we will keep you employed while we do this. seriously if that doesn't speak class i don't know what does, the press can say what they want about how he is with them but behind doors if this is how its going i don't care what everyone else thinks. i know most will not agree but thats my opinion.
