  1. I would love to see Fuller here. I think we have a good chance here. Sounds like we have a good shot at Diggs, Beaver and Neal too. As far as Foster, we probably got downgraded because of distance, weather and depth chart at position of choice with distance the number one issue. The fact that he indicated that he needs to talk it over with his other parent is an extremely good sign. I am guessing the discussion would be about distance and her chances to watch him play and to get a feel if she would mind flying. Just wild speculation on my part. Which coach always said you had to convince the Mom? It might be the case here. We probably have the most to overcome here IMO.
  2. They will need to employ the spinner/spy against Michigan.
  3. It sounds like all the skiilled players are tearing it up as noone knows how to defend the delaware T. They all have double digit ypc. Funny how things recycle. Drake sounds like he would be a good fullback to me. Good size with a frame to grow and gets to top speed in a hurry. http://www.lagunabeachindependent.com/2011/09/21/racking-yards-running-records/
  4. Some people are hard graders. 8.5 might be really really good compared to his other trips. Any know how high he graded his other trips?
  5. I think this guy is a pretty solid ILB. Good discipline, decent size & speed and fairly physical.
  6. I kind of wonder if it was a point of emphasis during the off-season to get bigger because of the b1g. Maybe some players lost quickness because of it. Just a thought.
  7. If you're talking about when he had to leave the game, I'm pretty sure it's because his lip got cut open pretty badly. Unless, of course, he didn't return after that? I didn't pay attention. You raise a valid concern though, OP. Our defensive ends have been underwhelming for several years here. But we shouldn't forget one thing - we missed out on what would have been a great addition two years ago in that Owamagbe Odigizhuwa kid. He'd be a sophomore now and given his skill level coming out of high school I wouldn't have been surprised if he hadn't played as a freshman last year. AH. Didn't realize that it was a cut lip. Thanks for enlightening me. I just saw him hanging his head and thought he was woozy. That's one thing I miss about McBride's scheme vs Bo's. McBride's RE were RUSH ENDS. They pinned their ears back. In Bo's scheme they are more containment first (DE's) (Unfortunately we lost containment though a couple of times which is not good in that scheme)
  8. The Coaching staff said something this week that I didn't necessarily agree with, but this time will help their cause. I can't remember exactly how it went but the gist of it was that they don't want to simplify things so that the players will get it, they want to make the players learn it. These 2 weeks gives them a little extra time for teaching.
  9. There's a few cultural things that may effect fan bases but people are people and Nebraska fans are pretty much the same as any fan base, plus we are a bit spoiled.
  10. It was a great great win. It will be a challenging season for us though and I adjusted my expectations to a 4-4 level. If they do better. Great!
  11. The thing to me is, he opened with a question that gave Bo boatloads of latitude to give TM all the props he deserved for the way he played. Bo was the one who turned it into a pissing match. Yes, we know he doesn't like the guy, but in this situation, just give the stock, cliched "coach" answers, give TM his credit and move on. Or better yet, just ignore his questions and take one frome someone else (if it works that way that he could have). Now this thing could escalate all year long between the two. Bo, you just came off a huge, come-from-behind win, it wouldn't be a bad thing to act like you enjoyed it just a little bit +1 That's kind of my thinking. Bo is the guy answering the question, he has all the answers. Gush about the team. Even if there is a negative question, you can talk about the positives and flip the question or don't even answer it. Talk about what you want to talk about, you have control. Politicians do this all the time and it drives me nuts, but in this case it's applicable. I didn't know they tried to address this privately, I am not privy to anything being a standard fan. So I am disappointed it's still an issue. Obviously Bo doesn't trust the guy and something needs to be done. I think they (the admin) should get together again and work out a compromise. Maybe they should reassign the reporters to different duties. Maybe Bo/admin should appoint a press person to speak for the team. Maybe they should submit questions ahead of time and have them screened. And Bo/team should NOT READ the PAPER/listen to TV or read BBS. Practice what you preach. Fan's are fanatics. REACTIONARY. FICKLE. The media feeds the fans. Their job is to sell newspapers or get viewers.
  12. 1) Momentum & emotion is huge in college football!!!! 2a) They made some some adjustments 2b) Play calling. They really need to use that diamond formation more. 3) Physical play accumulated affect.
  13. I think they should play with an extra DT and have Baker or Crick play RE. I am beginning to worry about Crick. Once you get one concussion you can get others more easily. It looked like he got his bell rung again. They really need to watch that.
  14. What does he do, kiss ass to Dirk until he decides to write another bullsh#t article to get page hits? As a head coach he needs to take the high road. Defuse the siutation. Move on. If you feel it needs to be addressed do it in private. Personally I don't want to see a spat. I want to hear about the game. The media is the link between the head coach and the outside world. Creating enemies with the media is not wise.
  15. Frankly I was not that thrilled with Bo's response. It's best not to alienate the local media.
  16. I love the diamond plays. I love the fact that our OL won the 4th quarter. Rex ran hard Tmart did a good job hitting the outlet. SJB has a future on D and the future is now. David is a stud. Oh wait, we already knew that. Enjoy a historic win. First b1g home came, biggest comeback and first home game against OSU.
  17. I didn't think he would be able to transition that fast. Kudos to him. That was one sweet interception. And the 2 times they showed him in coverage he was a blanket.
  18. That was ENTIRELY on Tim Beck/Bo Pelini. I swear to god, the next person that blames that play on Taylor. He had no choice but to force a ball downfield based on what his coaches were asking. They ran a QB draw, then DIDN'T CALL A TIMEOUT, let 20 seconds run off the clock, and then called a vertical pass play. If you're going to run the clock out, why pass? If you're trying to score, why let the clock run? To go to a checkdown receiver on that play would have contradicted his coaches' desire which apparently was to try and score, he had no choice but to go downfield if they wanted to score. That was god-awful coaching, and nothing else. +1000
  19. That 3 pts is on the coaches. I don't agree with booing by the home fans, booing won't help get those recruits. Bo shouldn't be paying attention to them.
  20. One thing about Taylor is that he doesn't seem to have a good feel for the pocket and will often flush out of the pocket away from his protection. Since he has a tendacy to do this I say roll the pocket. Cut the field down in half will make it easier for him to do reads. When they do have a standard pocket have him use the checkdown as the 2nd option! Eliminate penalties so we don't get behind the chains. Win the turnover battle.
  21. 2nd game was great too. I was pulling for the reds but they couldn't close it out. Another nice night for baseball. Coaching staff will have some tough decisions come spring.
  22. Football game..... 1st game was entertaining.
  23. http://sports.omaha.com/2011/10/06/nu-baseball-players-calling-shots-during-intrasquad-series This sounds like a lot of fun for the players. I think this coaching staff is going to do a great job. It may be a bit of a work in progress but I think there will be a lot of pride in the program. They did a great job of splitting up the rosters too.
  24. Have fun in the Texas league OU. Yeehaw.
