BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Stats like this are so out of whack it's not even funny. What does that even mean? Great we beat some SEC team in 1950 forty billion to nothing. What does it mean today? Probably nothing. Nebraska only played two bowl games before Devaney got here:1940 and 1954. By my count NU is actually 12-3 all time against the SEC. I didn't include Arkansas because they played them before they joined the SEC in 1991. 1964 Orange Auburn W 13-7 1966 Orange Alabama L 28-39 1967 Sugar Alabama L 7-34 1969 Sun Georgia W 45-6 1971 Orange Louisiana St. W 17-12 1972 Orange Alabama W 38-6 1974 Sugar Florida W 13-10 1980 Sun Mississippi St. W 31-17 1983 Orange Louisiana St. W 21-20 1985 Sugar Louisiana St. W 28-10 1987 Sugar Louisiana St. W 30-15 1996 Fiesta Florida W 62-24 1998 Orange Tennessee W 42-17 2000 Fiesta Tennessee W 31-21 2002 Independence Ole Miss L 24-27 Quote Link to comment
pigsonthewing
Despite the statistics, i still think Auburn will be able to throw. Our secondary made that one KU QB look like heisman material, and now he isnt even their starter. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
First things first. We must stop the run against Auburn. I know that our secondary sucks but that isn't going to matter if they can run on our defense. Quote Link to comment
HuskerHank
Who beat us, Georgia Tech ? Quote Link to comment
HuskerHank
Bama, I answered my own question. Quote Link to comment
California Husker
ESPN just showed that Nebraska is 11-1 against teams from the SEC in bowl games. I had no idea that we had that good of a record against their conference. Heres to hoping that we improve on that record to start the 2007 year. Yes we are 12-3 against SEC teams in bowl games...of course most of that was with Devaney and Osborne. Solich did beat Tennessee with Osborne's players (and some of his playbook), but the only recent loss to an SEC team was when Eli Manning beat us in the Independence Bowl. The game plan for that game was all Solich. You may remember it. We consistently ran well from our own end of the field, then we would get to mid field and Solich would abandon the run and go to his infamous pass-run-pass-punt progression. It was infuriating because even then we had more talent than Ole Miss, but Solich out coached himself. You may also remember that as the season when the consecutive winning seasons streak stopped just short of breaking Notre Dame’s record. CRAP! I still hate Solich for that. We finished 7-7 that season and have never really looked very good again. As long as Tom Osborne is still sucking oxygen into his lungs, he should be on the sideline coaching our team. If that old redneck, hillbilly in Tallahassee is still coaching, and that old dried up rodent in Happy Valley is there, then TO should be running the Huskers. And by the way, I think he is the only one of the three still capable of putting together a wining program. Quote Link to comment
AR Husker Fan
We are definitely better off with Auburn verse playing AR. It would have been a track meet against AR and we would have lost big much like OKSU!!!!!Not a chance. Our defense is actually the kind that gives Arkansas fits. Arkansas has almost no passing attack. They rely entirely on the run. Against SEC teams, that's surprisingly sucessful, primarily because almost all SEC teams have fast, but smaller, defenses. NU's front seven is built differently - the size would cause the Razorbacks major problems. And with their anemic passing attack, we could - for once - actually load the box with some confidence we wouldn't get burned by the pass. Quote Link to comment

Except for when they do that little gay-a$$ thing where they line up McFadden at QB then he fakes a draw and throws up top......we would definately get burned by that. Quote Link to comment
