bethelbacker
Was watching the combine, Jay turned in 4.91 and 4.97..........compare that to other d-ends such as Jarvis Moss, who ran 4.68......... I didnt see Carriker run, he may be saving that for pro day.....he did manage 33 bench reps though... Quote Link to comment
farmerscarlet
33 bench reps, is that good? And I figured Moore ran a 4.85 to a 4.8 but I guess that the way things go. He still should be drafted by at least the 3rd round. Quote Link to comment

Blackshirtsguru
From what I have gathered 40 times for DE's mean nothing. It's the short bursts of speed (shuttle) that NFL teams look at. That along with hip and upper body strength. When was the last time a DE ran 40 yards down field in a game? They want speed bursts to blow past the OT's and make the QB produce snot bubbles. That's what Mike Mayock and Dick Vermeil were talking about on the NFL Channel coverage. They were really impressed with Carriker. They were impressed with Moore as well. Moore worked out with the DE/OLB 3-4 Hybrids and he performed very well. Great foot work, great hands, good burst. Vermeil credited Nebraska's conditioning program for the good performances. Yes but they use it to compare one DE against another DE and it helps give them an overall picture of athleticism when "combined" with the other tests. Quote Link to comment
Syzygyone
They want speed bursts to blow past the OT's and make the QB produce snot bubbles. Now you've done it. Raised the bar yet again for the Blackshirts and DL. 2007 will not be a successful year unless that nose-pickin sorry a$$ excuse for a Mizzery QB is shown laying on the turf with SNOT BUBBLES!!!! bluiz18
is it just me or did most of the 40 times seem a little slower than usual. Seems as if the times the players had been running in college and at training were a tenth or two faster. Seems strange Quote Link to comment
