Assessing the talent: http://armondarmstead.com/

Per the linked Yahoo! Sports article, Armstead has added size and is a raw talent at this point with huge upside...expect many more offers. Per chamrocck, get this guy in our weight room!

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15% "I would like to make an early commitment if I can, possibly by the end of August. I'll have to take some unofficial visits because I want to try and get as much information on each of the schools as I can. I definitely want to check out Nebraska and I'll take a visit to Fresno State too."

But Washington is pulling ahead in recruitment...we need to get going!

Washington finally pulls the trigger on Armstead

Armond Armstead is the hottest prospect in all of California right now. Before the Nike Camp, Armstead had a few offers from mediocre programs. After dominating every opponent, Armstead has garnered offers from many schools around the country. Washington has always been on his list of favorites and has finally offered Armstead.

Armond Armstead is the top player in California, according to a number of experts, after his dominating performance at the recent Nike Camp in Palo Alto.

"Washington offered today. I called Coach Simmons and he got Willingham on the phone. They said they really like what Armond has to offer and want him bad," said Gus Armstead.

"Just this last week, Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State and Texas A & M have all offered," said Armond Armstead. USC and UCLA have also showed a lot of attention and have invited Armstead to their camps next weekend. "I will be going to their day camps to show what I got. I'm really excited about how things have began to progress."

The Armstead's are still very high on Washington. "We really like Coach Willingham. Not only is he concerned with making Armond a great player, but a great individual," said Gus Armstead. "Washington has been at the top of our list and will continue to do so. We really like the program," he said.

"We really had a good time on our visit at Washington. The coaches, players and facilities were all nice. We are really high on Washington," said Armond.

Update on Armstead here:

Long article that discusses his weekend at camps at both UCLA and USC. Says he is getting major look at as a tremendous OL prospect but his heart is to play DE. We do not appear to be on his short list but sounds like he still wants to visit. Once he checks out our weight room / facilities, I expect some of these also ran schools to drop off! :thumbs

Here's a new article:

Kid is really high on USC and UCLA but they have not offered him (remains to be seen if they will). He talks about his favorites in order as USC, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, and Texas A&M. I am somewhat surprised to not see Washington listed as prior he was very high on them. Don't really know what the AZ schools are doing up there so high...he does say he will visit all of these schools including us. As an outside observer, he seems to like the Pac-10 so glad he will visit us and learn about Big 12 football and Nebraska's great tradition of defensive lineman.

Scout is teasing that he may visit. He was recently offered by USC and that is his leader. Plenty of free links on his website. I really think Armstead and fellow DT Jurrell Casey should come visit NU for the USC game. Both these guys are USC recruits. I don't think they realize what they are missing. Would be great to see them both visit as we are a program with the tradition to go head to head with USC. I don't think Armstead will make final decision until he sees his top schools. I get sense this kid wants and will visit.
