USC practice

They were on WHS's practice field which is connected to theri baseball diamond - also a Field Turf surface.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pix. Was about 250-300 yards away in a neighbor's back yard. I caught about the last 20 minutes.

The were doing a light work out - no pads or helmets. Looked like #1 units going vs. #2's. Couldn't miss Malealuga's mane. Booty, or who I thought to be Booty, was accurate. The other guy - not so much.

Looked like they were working on getting signals in properly; counting on lots of noise. An assistant was holding up a clipboard with the play code as the offense came to the line of scrimmage.

Ran base plays - passes off play action across the middle and to the sideline. Out routes to the perimeter, and runs between the tackles.

Lots of speed on both sides of the ball.

Interesting. Thanks!

I thought about going over there during my lunch break, but didn't have time.

Sometimes the QB was moving to the short side of the field before throwing. Working from both hashes.

They tried pretty hard to make us sound like simpletons on that page you linked to:

The team arrived at Omaha’s Westside High School like foreign dignitaries coming to town, as a police cars escorted them to the field, hoards of curious onlookers tried to get a glimpse of the Trojans and a slew of reporters bombarded Coach Carroll as if he were the president of a nation.

USC pulled up to the high school around 12:30 and began warming up on the school’s main football field, but it was too out in the open and too many people could look on. Friday walk-thrus are the most guarded on-the-field sessions for USC football, so spectators are forbidden.

So the team had to adjust to the circumstances.

Within minutes, the Trojans moved to an adjacent baseball field at the high school that was more protected from random onlookers. The field still had FieldTurf and was painted with football boundaries, so not much changed in terms of the preparation.

Even with the change of locale, though, unwanted observers still watched from the nearby hills, the adjacent classrooms and around the field as if the Trojans were some famous celebrities.

And maybe they are around here. The walk-thru was just another of those one-of-a-kind experiences for USC that adds to the Nebraska lore.

It would be so nice to send them home a .500 ball club...
