The Snork
He would absolutely be there. Pud knew if Cally was fired he'd be next. He never figured on being the first to go. Quote Link to comment
np_husker
After 5-7, you'd think that even Pud would have been making some changes. I suspect that a few assistants would have gotten canned, but Cally would have gotten another year. If Pud were here, Cally would be here and I really can't see any changes in the staff either. Clearly Callahan wasn't about making adjustments either on the field or off. Quote Link to comment
ChupaCabra
I cant believe Pud got hired again after his job performance at Nebraska He is credited with the return of Pitt football to something resembling its glory days, and with building their basketball team into a perennial contender. He leaves for Nebraska and viola! they go back in the toilet in both sports. They probably couldn't write up a contract fast enough to please their fans to get him back "home." Seriously, the absolutely love the guy there. Hey com'on...it's Pittsburgh...you know, the school that goes by "Pitt." Names mean things you know...they were made for each other. And you know what? Good for Pedersen...he may have sucked here, but good luck to him elsewhere. I don't wish ill will towards anyone...sometimes stuff just doesn't work out. Same for Callahan, Cosgrove, et al...I hope they land on their feet somewhere else. It's just football afterall....ok, not around here, but you know what I mean. Yep. I feel exactly the same way. I don't want any of them here, but I wish them well whereever they go. Everyone deserves a chance to earn a living. yeah, well Pud made damn sure Cally was going to get a big check, for some time to come...brilliant move. True dat. And, using that logic, should Pearlman be gone as well? Which begs the question: How high up the ladder do you go with firings? Callahan was coach, Pud hired him, Pearlman hired Pud, Pearlman agreed with Pud's decision to extend Callahan's contract, Pearlman extended Pud's contract. Do we hold Pearlman responsible for the entire fiasco or do we take the position that the buck stops with Pud? Afterall, Pearlman delegated athletic decisions to his AD. He should defer those decisions to Pud and hold him solely responsible. Sorry to digress into a different topic!!! Quote Link to comment

Yeah, Perlman should have known more about what was happening with the athletic dept, but the fact is, he's a good Chancellor and his job is to run the entire University, not just athletics. Lets not be so narrow minded that we don't see the overall picture and the great work done by the University of Nebraska, not just the University of Nebraska Athletic Dept. Quote Link to comment
DaveH
I think the answer to this question is a question. Does it matter? Quote Link to comment
HuskerTrucker
Pud is like BC....can't admit he might be wrong....BC would still be here, and they would be selling the same talks after each game....you know the ones...they tried hard, and would be back next week to try hard again...and how they didn't need to make any changes in the planning, just execute better... After all we are too stupid as sand hillbillys to understand their great plan of action. Quote Link to comment
