The thing about the spread is that it has delivered on what it was intended to do: namely, 'level' the playing field.

You don't have to have great players 'cross the board since you are not going to try and muscle anybody around. You just need some good rcvrs and a qb that can mainly throw short passes and scramble a bit. So, by design, it adds to the 'parity' we see today.

Only a D with stellar ath.s can shut it down, but even then it's rare. :wacko:
