HuskerKing130
or does he go pro? And what about Missouri's top linebacker Sean Weatherspoon? Does he return or does he go pro? Quote Link to comment
fro daddy
or does he go pro? And what about Missouri's top linebacker Sean Weatherspoon? Does he return or does he go pro? With Maclin I think it depends on how he finishes up. Spoon said before the season he was returning for his senior season no matter what. Quote Link to comment
HuskerKing130
So your saying Maclin will return or go pro based on how high he thinks he'll get drafted? Quote Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
He would be passing up some serious $$$$ that and Daniels sp? will be gone .. Very tough choice. I would take the $$$ but the college experience wins out sometimes. Quote Link to comment
HuskerKing130
Hey how come you have to move my thread? Its not completely off topic (since we may have 2 play Maclin next year so it relates to Husker football) Quote Link to comment

fro daddy
I think it depends on where he is slated. He has never said anyting about leaving it has just been a common thought, much like any top level underclassman. The one thing to really consider is this. Right now his is spliting the majority of balls with Chase Coffman. Coffman is a senior. So unless there is a development of another stud. Maclin will see even more balls next year. MU still spreads it, but he will get the ball that much more. And Blaine had his redshirt pulled back in fall practice. So he has thrown all summer, through camp and now the season and he been getting reps. So although I dont expect him to blow up right away, Maclin knows what the new QB's skills are from working with him. The other major underlining factor might be his family life. Maclin's dad is out of the picture and really so is his mom. She has little to do with him and although she is around, she is not really an infuence. He was taken in by his pee-wee coach. So he is basically the adopted son of a very wealthy family in suburban St. Louis. So $$ is not a need and they have pushed him hard on education. BUT like you said also, if they (NFL) are telling him your top 10, that is ALOT of $$ to pass up. Even more when you have already been hurt in college (blew out his knee his true freshman season in fall camp) Quote Link to comment

His numbers are really good again, but if parvin and Crabtree comeout, and young QB's like Bradford & McCoy. That could maybe push his stock down. I have no clue. All I know is I want him to stay Quote Link to comment

FlavaFootball
I forgot that he redshirted his freshman year. I think him leaving will have a lot to do with what Pinkel does in the offseason. Quote Link to comment
In the Deed the Glory
I may be wrong but I thought you had to be 3 years out of high school to enter the NFL draft and Maclin is only a sophmore this year. I think Nebraska will be dealing with him for at least one more year. He's a third year sophmore. Quote Link to comment
DJR313
I wouldn't mind it if he went pro(him and Crabtree). Holy crap, that kid is a stud and very tough to defend. Todd McShay has him as his #7 prospect, if he were to declare. Hard to pass up that kinda dough, but who knows. Quote Link to comment

fro daddy
Just found this when browsing the KC Star: Missouri All-American Jeremy Maclin will return for his junior season in 2009 unless he is assured of being a first-round pick in the NFL draft next summer. “Any sophomore or junior who leaves early and doesn’t go in the first round, that’s not a very smart decision,” Maclin said Monday (11/3/08).
