Get to know Nebraskas players

C-4

Recommended Posts

Were going to play a game to try and pass another day or two.

The rules are simple, the above poster will name a player. The 2nd poster will give background info on them and what they expect from them this year. After that, he/she will post another player for the 3rd poster. etc.

This will also help people get to know Nebraskas team better.

EX:

Poster 1 -

Zach Lee

Poster 2 -

Through the last 10years, nebraska's quarterbacks have been more then pulling there weight, with JoeG being our latest. Though Witt backed Ganz up last year and had the spot reserved for him in 09, he jetted off, leaving Lee as our qb. Zac Lee is a player with a similar skill set to Ganz, but who knows if he'll be as good. After all, like Zac Taylor, it wasnt Ganz' skill set that made him a household favorite.

My Predictions: Fast start, comes out rocking hard.. but against weak opponets, and will slip midseason. Green starts becoming a tempting option, but he reels nebraska back towards the end.

SO I WILL START:

Niles Paul

Niles Paul

#24

6'1" 215 lbs

Junior

He is an Omaha native and a projected starter at the WR position this Fall. Paul ran into some legal issues during spring training causing him to be suspended through the Spring Game. Other WR's looked to have stepped their game up dramatically in the Spring Game also. Paul is one of the fastest game breakers we have and will need to prove himself as a viable target this season to shore up any concerns amongst the WR's.

Roy from Danville California, is a vital part in the Nebraska running game. Roy rushed for more than 800 yards last year. Roy's 6.4 yards per attempt was the best average by a Husker in seven years. He was named Big 12 honorable-mention in 2008. Roy has put on more weight this year but the coaching staff assures the media, that he has not lost a step. As a matter of fact, they say he has actually gained speed this year.

My Predictions: Roy will be our go to guy in the running game. He will rush for more than 1200 yards and will be named 2009 All-Big 12 Football First Team Offense.

Next Up.....

Ndamukong Suh aka SUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Mr Suh hails from Portland Oregon where he was also a standout in track. Has the opportunity to be the most successful recruit from the "Dumbass Coaching Era." After injuries slowed him, along with some inconsistent play, Suh blew up the scene in Lincoln last year leading the team in tackles as well as picks, which were both returned for six. Featured in the offense in the "Ducky" formation Suh caught a TD as well as crushed numerous defenders as a lead blocker. WARNING has a penchant for turning Daddy's boys into road kill.

Prediction: Will continue to flourish under Pelini despite numerous double teams. Will receive the All Big XII honors that he was screwed out of last year and make a very strong case for national awards at the end of the year. Opponents will be sprawled out in his wake and Cody Hawkins still sees him in his sleep this year.

Up next.......Thenarse, Mr. Ricky Thenarse

Ricky Thenarse #3

Ricky was highly recruited player from LA, standing out at RB and DB. Last season was his first season starting, despite an early injury. He split alot of playing time O'Hanlon. He compiled 24 tackles and one pick in the OU game. Brings a very hard hitting nature to the secondary and great experience too having playing time in his Soph year.

My prediction: Who knows? I think he'll improve on his coverage and post more INTs but he'll be a great fit for run support.

Next up: Pierre Allen

Pierre Allen #96

6-6 265

Junior DE Allen earned a starting role early in the 08 season, and garnered 52 tackles 10 for loss and 5 sacks.

Prediction: Could be a break out year for this young man as part of a strong D-line. Look for him to improve upon last seasons number and give opposing backfields fits. GBR!!

Up next: Ben Cotton

Ben Cotton

#81

6-6, 217 lbs.

Ben is the son of offensive line coach Barney Cotton. He is from Ames, Iowa. During the recruiting process, he originally comitted to Louisville before switching his commitment to Nebraska. Ben redshirted during his freshman year. He came on strong during the 2009 Red-White spring game. Ben recorded four catches for 48 yards and one touchdown.

Prediction: Ben will not get much playing time because of the crowded tight end depth chart. He will be fighting for playing time with McNeill, Young, Hill, Reed, and others.

Next: P.J. Smith

P.J. Smith

#13

6'2" 210 - Safety

P.J. Smith is a redshirt freshman, graduated from john curtis high school in louisiana. Top 50 safety according to rivals. Had 85 tackles and 4 picks in his senior year of high school.

Prediction: P.J. may see early playing time in a nickel or dime package. Though its hard to tell, looked good in the spring game.
