Twodocs
Is it best for a coach to tamp down any talk prior to a game like this What are they fearful of Missouri? Are we really afraid of MU? Is Bo trying to forget he got kicked at home embarrassed last year? Can denial really work or is revenge best served red hot! http://www.huskerextra.com/articles/2009/1...ea294138138.txt "Pelini’s playing the situation correctly. He understands that many media questions inevitably will swing toward 2007 and 2008, when Missouri tattooed Nebraska by a combined score of 93-23 and easily outgained the Huskers 1,068 yards to 666. Perhaps the greatest indignity for Big Red was being outrushed 396 to 153 in those contests. What’s more, Nebraska hasn’t recorded a single sack against Mizzou’s spread offense in the past two seasons." Quote Link to comment
MizzouBob77
I actually like some of Sipple's work, but this column is idiotic. How does NU have a mental edge? They've been pushed around for two straight years, and this is home game in a hostile environment on a Thursday night. Quote Link to comment
Husker Runner
I saw Mack Brown on the local news in Austin last night talking about how he makes his team aware of losses of other top 10 teams so they understand that they can't get too comfortable, but he makes it a point to not talk about it too much so the team doesn't get a visual in their heads about losing and it then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. That's what Bo is doing here. Missouri has had NU's number in recent years and he wants to shake that visual out of the players' heads. Quote Link to comment

During the Callafraud fiasco whenever he was asked a pin-point question on how inept Callafraud was, all we heard was "oh...I don't know" or "Bill knows what he's doing". It was only after Cally was gone did he tell people what he really thought. The realities around this guy is that he's horrible. Quote Link to comment

Sip, unlike a lot of commentators, tends to hedge his bets about predictions. Gives him a waffling flavor, but I still like his work. Quote Link to comment

He's not "tamping" (??) down talk about this game, all he's doing is keeping his players focused. It'd be stupid for him to have his players dwell on their last two losses to Missouri, because then they'll get a negative mentality going in. What he's doing is exactly what he should be doing. Have his players focused on the game to come, no recollection of past games, and ready to dominate the tiggers. Quote Link to comment

rcruter
thats what bo should be doing, don't want to reinforce a negative, look at how the cubs have to deal with constant talk of 100 years of failure. which becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. better than last years "mystery defense" that carl and bo and the local press trumpeted about as did all the posters on this and other huskers bds. How did that one work out? that mystery d got huskers destroyed and didn't work at all. this approach is more professional. just wait and play the game. first ***** in the armor. Bo is playing this very smart, let the play do the talking. Not to mention, Bo only had 10 months with the team before mizzery came to Lincoln last year and that was mizzerys FIRST win in lincoln IN DECADES, so they are bragging about it? Big deal! A championship caliber team one win does not make... which further adds the question, what has mizzery won that is worth bragging about? a game? Bo has EXPERIENCE WINNING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, what does Pinkel have beyond a reputation for derailing his own team? There simply is no comparison between Nebraska and mizzery, none. Until there are trophies to back up the gutter talk in Columbia, its all garbage and its not worth mentioning as the game next week will speak for itself. Quote Link to comment
