Why does the poster's names appear on the left side of the header some times, and to the center of the header on other posts?

 

I thought I was imagining things at first, then I thought it was something you guys were trying out...

 

Then I thought it was something we were sposed to sellect and maybe I did accidently.

 

But on this thread, I see both examples.

post 156 the name is on the left, while post number 157 is centered.

Yeah, it happens in some threads - not in others. Not sure why - the defualt is for a left-align. I tried testing it to see whether folks that centered items in their signatures might be causing it, but that's not it either. Not sure what is causing it - it's something we're looking into.

I'm using IE 8 on Windows 7.

 

Take a look at the first page of THIS THREAD. The second post, by Husker_Power, is centered, as are all the post thereafter.

Now that you mention it, it seems like a few of my posts were centered, too.

Strange bug, but hopefully it won't keep me from sleeping around

 

They still have software for screenshots?

Seems like I installed one with my very 1st cd-burner a couple of computers ago in the mid to late '90s

I assume you are NOT in compatibility mode, right?

It has to be something with IE, I had the same problem at work (IE) but at home neither of those examples holds true when I'm running Google Chrome.

Nope. This makes me think it's a CSS issue, but for the life of me, I can't see where. The CSS has it set to left-align; I can't find anything that would cause it to render in center mode. There must be something about IE's rendering that's doing it, though.

 

EDIT: Well, crap - it just did it with my post. It isn't because of the quote - if I remove it, it still does it. Might be time to hit Google...

AR, I'm looking at the CSS and I don't see that it is set to left-align.

 

The style definition in question:

 

.post-block h3 {
  padding: 8px;
}

 

Add a

text-align: left;

definition to that and it should clear up. Not quite sure why it's happening in the first place for only some of them...but I think that will do the trick. If it doesn't, I don't know.

It clears up the heading only - the part with the username, etc. The actual text in the field doesn't align left. However, I think I see the section of the CSS that needs that - let me give it a try.
