Scarlet Overkill
I was checking out Stassen today, where they look at the accuracy of such publications. I wiped the crud out of my eyes and did a double-take when one of the sites/polls making preseason predictions had Nebraska at #1. Stassen Quote Link to comment

JTrain
That's the Rogers Poll, which is actually a computer program by a guy named Jon Rogers. Apparently he has some formula, which I'm guessing includes a bunch of inputs like returning starts and stats from last season. Quote Link to comment

Sparker
Why is OU so high in preseason polls? Quote Link to comment

The problem with computer predictions is that they really don't take into full account of the personnel that different teams have lost from the previous years. Very inaccurate. Quote Link to comment

Yes I believe this one does. Most computer rankings don't have preseason rankings at all because they are based on what actually happens on the field, but this one does, so I'm sure it accounts for players returning/lost. I'll post more on the methodology if I can find anything. Quote Link to comment
Scarlet Overkill
True - I tried to see what their track record was, but I don't see anything listed for any of the Rogers Poll in previous years. Plus, USC not ranked at all? I am just not buying it. Quote Link to comment
HuskerTrucker
USC has sanctions on them now...no post season play at all. They also are losing 10 scholarships a year for the next 3 years. That is devestating. I have a feeling that they will also be losing some of their talent in the coming weeks to other schools. You can't blame their kids for wanting to be able to have a chance to play for something. Playing at USC right now is like taking your career to a dead end. Quote Link to comment
