NU ranked #1 in Rogers Preseason Poll

Recommended Posts

Putting Nebraska at #1 is pretty ridiculous. I think we are solidly a top 10 unit and with our schedule should easily expect to end up there after the (probably BCS) bowl. But when the bulk of your returning strength is an offense coming off a ho-hum season and you just lost the greatest player in the nation, a sobering dose of reality is needed for anyone putting them at the very top. NU will be a dangerous team come fall, but yeah, wouldn't order the MNC tickets just yet.

The underlying algorithm for calculating the P-Scores is very straightforward. Half of the P-Score is the team's Pythagorean expectation. The other half is the mean Pythagorean expectation for all opponents faced to date.

With a cool sounding parameter like the Pythagorean expectation this poll must be accurate. This should be straightforward to you.

I believe it is a species of snake that lives in the Amazon rain forest.

Every summer, it turns its scales to the color of the number one ranked preseason team.

Now I ain't no math-a-muh-tishun, but Olin Buchanan of rivals devised and algorithm that took all the commonalities between every team that has won the MNC since the inception of the BCS (I'm sure there was a thread on here about it at one point).

But there ended up being something like 10 different attributes that all past BCS champs have had, and he applied it to this year. Three teams fit the bill; Ohio State, Va Tech, and Nebraska.

Point being, it must be a similar algorithm that Rogers poll uses.

if nebraska,s defense keeps on track, it will do wonders,,,because national championships are based on defense. the schedule really helps nu to be ranked good, and probably thoughout the season...but realistically, i think around 11 or 10 th ranked would be possible....the offense is what is holding this team back
