Caven
Lou: "There's only seven musical notes..." uh, there was a lot more than seven notes for Beethoven to use In any given scale there are 7 distinct notes. There are 12 distinct notes total. Quote Link to comment

Hercules
Just found the outtakes of Holtz's pep talk to Texas. Very inspiring stuff. Quote Link to comment
Chucktown Husker
I guess the bright side is just about every time Holtz give a pep talk, that team loses. Quote Link to comment

TexArcher
What about Sharps and Flats? That's why it's 12, not 7. Quote Link to comment
bennychico11
uh, there was a lot more than seven notes for Beethoven to use In any given scale there are 7 distinct notes. There are 12 distinct notes total. in any diatonic scale there are only 7 pitch classes, yes. However, there are other scales that have more. Some could argue that you could classify each note as it's own separate frequency. Therefore on an instrument like a piano Beethoven would have had 88 individual notes to choose from. Still, I was more commenting on Lou's statement that Beethoven only had seven notes to use...when chromatically he had a full 12 to use. -back on topic- Texas: all the pep talks in the world won't help you Saturday! GBR! Quote Link to comment
epocSoN
What about Sharps and Flats? That's why it's 12, not 7. Not to be anal, but its actually 11. The 12th note would just be an octave higher than the 1st. Quote Link to comment
