ADS
My Question Huskers creep toward top 10Does Nebraska have a chance to move into the top 10 team rankings? - Alan from Lincoln, Neb. Yes the Huskers have a chance, but it will take a big finish. With 13 commitments right now they are in range of the top 10 with most of the schools ahead of them boasting more prospects right now. Nebraska will take a smaller class this year of 21 or 22 so it will be tough to finish in the top 10. I see 11-20 more likely, but if the finish with Aaron Green, Cyrus Hobbi, Todd Peat and Charles Jackson, and possibly pull an upset for Wayne Lyons or someone else, then it could happen. But it would take a near perfect finish. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
I don't understand why we are taking yet another smaller class... But then again there's a lot I don't understand Quote Link to comment
sdhusker82
yeah i thought this class was supposed to be bigger? I dont keep up with recruiting very much though anymore. I like the guys predictions though. Quote Link to comment
HuskerNMO
We're only losing 18-19 seniors, and have Marsh on greyshirt coming in midyear along with Heard if he gets his test score. Obviously we're expecting attrition, a couple players will leave, and there's a chance Crick and Dennard will enter the draft early, I would say Dennard probably will actually. Quote Link to comment
pjbighuskerman
Other things play into the Number of recruits taken each year. 1. Walk-ons: As the walk-on classes continue to get back to pre-Callahan levels (20 ish) per season, there is a greater chance that a walk-on earns a scholarship. 2. As the depth improves, there is less of a need to burn redshirts. So mathematically you only need to get 17 to 18 guys over a 5 year turnover. 3. The coaches seem to be looking for a certain type of recruit = less "stars" better citizens and more intelligent. There might be something I am missing, but these 3 things combined mean you only need to get 17 to 22 GOOD kids every year. Of course you will have kids quit, not make it academically, injuries, leave for the NFL early. The Big classes you see are from schools that CHURN and BURN (as I used to say when I was a stockbroker) these kids. Get a bunch of high star guys and hope some "stick". Don't worry about their other issues - school, attitude, the "police". Total points is not the correct way to look at how well a school does recruiting. YOu should look at AVG stars / AVG score per recruit and does the players fill the NEED for that recruiting class. Also, look at which recruits actual make it to the school and actually play. GBR!!!!! pj Quote Link to comment
