IAhusker
First time starting a topic so hopefully this goes ok. Just a little fun fact to be watched for the rest of the season, if my count is correct Henery needs 16 points to pass Kris Brown for #1 on the all time scoring list. Just adding to the incredible legacy Mr. Henery has made for himself. 27 points would get him to 400 but that seems lofty for 4 games left in the season. Also in my opinion the loss of Alex and Adi combined is just as big of a blow to our team as losing Suh. Thoughts? Quote Link to comment
Apathy
Also in my opinion the loss of Alex and Adi combined is just as big of a blow to our team as losing Suh. Thoughts? No doubt about that. If we didn't have Henery we would've lost to Colorado in 08' and their goes the new field goal record of 57 yards. Also without Henery's field goals we would've been shutout by Virginia Tech and Texas of last year. Also Adi has done a hell of a job during kickoffs with all his touchbacks.....well except for the 09' Big 12 Championship game. Quote Link to comment

I knew that was going to be brought up somehow, at the time I was livid for that and somewhat blamed him for that loss, but then I realized that no one is perfect, and Adi's fault just happened to come out at the most inoppurtune time and place. His career touchback number is about 41% (117 TB- 287 ATT) and this year it is about 46% (31 TB-67 ATT). All in all you have to look past the minor mistakes and look ath the whole body of work and appreciate how lucky we were to have not only a deadly accurate field goal kicker but a boot to set field position with as well. They will be four of our toughest games. (Hey, CU always plays us tough. Even when they suck.) And we got a gimpy QB right now. Good point about the loss of Alex/Adi being as big of a blow as losing Suh. I dunno if it's that big, but the loss will definitely be felt. Kickers are more important to teams with great defenses and suspect offenses. Like NU last year. One other thing: I wish we could have seen what Adi has for FGs. I don't think he's kicked one for about three years, has he? But that's what happens when you play behind the best kicker in the ncaa. Quote Link to comment

Adi only has one career FG attempt in his career, a 46 yarder that was good his freshman year, I'm sure he has just of good as distance as Alex but I'm not sure anyone has as good of accuracy. The reason I think the loss is as big as Suh is because you lose the most accurate kicker in Nebraska history, a kick off specialist who puts the opposing team at the 20 to start their drives half the time, and your punter who averages 44 yards a kick and has above average accuracy for punting as well as kicking. The change in field position alone that these two bring is incredible. Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
Losing Henery and Adi next year will be huge in terms of special teams. These two guys have had huge impacts on games and Henery's "automatics" with his field goals will be sorely missed next year. Quote Link to comment

But I also know that offensive coordinators put together special gameplans to account for a great DT like Suh. Teams don’t worry so much about any kicker or punter. Don’t get me wrong. I am a HUGE fan of both Henery and Kunalic. But kickers just don’t have the same value as a game changing defensive down lineman. Look at the NFL draft. Henery may go on day one, but no way he gets picked in the first round. Adi won’t get drafted but will eventually make a roster somewhere. Quote Link to comment

Suh is once in a lifetime player, hopefully we can get someone to replace Alex and Adi as well as Crick and Baker have done for Suh. Quote Link to comment
girlknowsfootball
Oh man Alex is a Pro. I'm a cowboys fan and we'd BETTER draft him. I'm suck and tired of seeing Buehler miss his extra points and 30 yd FG's. The Lions could use him too with SUH since SUH had to kick the other day... can't have that shallow of a kicking team. BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Henery is also such a great punter. It was speculated by an announcer last week that he could play both positions in the NFL and that would open up another roster spot to provide extra depth. That would be HUGE for whatever team got him. Here's to hoping Henery pins A&M inside the 10 two or three times!!! Quote Link to comment

I could seriously see this, he hits consistently 40+ yards with above average hang time, if he could get a couple more tenths of hangtime on his punts he could be a serious dual threat K/P in the NFL. Anybody know if this has ever happened before and if so who was the last person to do it? Quote Link to comment

Niklas Sade is a 2 star recruit coming in next fall, ethier way nothing guarenteed by far and away. Quote Link to comment

Great kickoff specialist, Best FG kicker ever in Neb history, good punter, entire secondary, helu, and paul (not sure if this is good or bad). Thats just off the top of my head, I know there is more.
