Obama's assault on religion is beginning

Recommended Posts

Right was probably not the best choice of words. Still . . . I wonder how you got "constitutional right" from my statement.

The Catholic Church is not being coerced into doing anything. That's all political spin a hospital or university is not a church. Slapping a Catholic label in front of those words does not make them churches.

They are affiliated with the Catholic church without them, those colleges and hospitals would not exist as they are ran and would not get any contributions from the church in which they do now. That is why Creighton or any other CATHOLIC college, or hospital is there the church agreed to them. This also applies to Midland Luthern college It is a Luthern college that you are forced to take religion classes based on their faith. If you don't like it don't go there. This is the same with a Benefit I have at my Employment if I didn't like them I would leave. These are offered to me if I would ask for something to be added and said this is my right they would say I was crazy. Employers SHOULD NOT be forced to give certain benefits like this or the way they are forcing the Obama plan on us. IMO Obama is abusing his power and is making this country even more split than it already was. The GOVERNMENT needs to stay out of Private companies. They need to collect their taxes and leave the rest alone.

Pretty sure those catholic institutions get govt funds. I'd say that makes a good argument that the govt can have some stipulations attached to those funds...no?

If they're supported by federal dollars they are subject to federal regulations. If they don't want federal regulations they shouldn't accept federal dollars.

That's a good point. Heck the Catholic church is big enough they could make their own insurance company as well for their employers and decide what is or isn't provided. This is the problem with federal dollars when it comes to any private institution. Once you start taking the money, it is like crack and almost impossible to wean yourself off of it.

I guess my point is that the government shouldn't now or ever start running business'. Especially, when they violate fredom of religion issues such as this one. Like I also stated earlier this isn't the first time this has happened. The Government thought they were more equiped to run the Luthern Religion as well. As far as accepting federal dollars, yeah I guess I wish everyone would stop accepting Federal Dollars pay their damn taxes and make and spend their own money.

It's not just contraceptives.

Common sense and rationalitie's assualt on religion is beginning. I'm just here to warn you. 20 years from now we won't have a christian amusment park with jurrassic park "raptors" that are 3 feet too tall living with cave men all so we can debate why we aren't teaching that in school.

Ummm . . . do you think anyone who leans towards the GOP will EVER give Obama credit for anything? The man keeps passing laws based on Republican ideas . . . and they still try to claim that he is the most radical leftist president in history.

Who exactly are you talking about? The majority of Catholics voted for Obama in 2008 so why wouldn't they give him credit for this? Because it isn't what they wanted in the first place thus not the compromise that is being touted by the majority on the left. I'm not even saying I agree with the stance of the Catholic church on this issue or their stance on birth control. As I mentioned before, if you take the government funding then follow the stipulations. Don't like the stipulations, quit taking the money and do what you like. I guess I am just more open minded to the fact that this "compromise" isn't what it appears to be. I just wish people would call it for what it is.

98% of Catholic women have used birth control that is not approved of by the Catholic Church. So . . . who exactly is against it? The Catholic establishment? I guess that leads to a bigger question: who is the Catholic Church? The pope and his bishops . . . or the Catholic people themselves? I'd lean towards the latter.

This compromise wasn't even necessary. If anything, this administration has been overly solicitous to unnecessary demands.

The thing is this isn't only about contraceptives, but other issues like wanting all organizations to also offer insurance for sterilization and abortion. I do think they will make a compromise for the contraceptives but not sterilization or abortion.

You are wrong. It is in fact only about contraceptives. Abortion isn't even in the discussion.

This is about condoms and birth control pills. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! God forbid that we curb STDs and unwanted pregnancies. What we need most in this country are more kids that parents didn't really want.
