Here's who i would bet on if I did that sorta thing! (cough wink nod) :)

Nebraska of course

Iowa state -5

Air force -21

Purdue -14 1/2

Miami - 6 1/2

How much of your stack would you bet on Nebraska. I put up a little less then 20% on the Nebraska game! Iowas St/Iowa scares me. Ari force just not sure what could happen with that game. Purdue I almost took, but it is Purdue. Miami I almost pulled a 200 bet on and really love that game, But Then I tried watching porn and Bill Snyder popped up on my screen and I got scared! LOL.

I just added 50 bucks to my account...i put 25 on cinci tonight at 6.5, bumped it up to get a straight 25 for 25....then if i win tonight ill put all of the 75 on nebraska, otherwise the 25 i have left....last year i worked from 50 bucks up to around 550 by midseason and then started wagering hundred dollar bills and that was the most idiotic thing i could have done.

Cincy is looking good so far Akita, maybe i should have just put the whole 50 on them...up 14-0 in the first 5 minutes and pitt looks awful

Gamblers Life Key word for YOU MAYBE! OTHER EXCUSES I HAVE USED IS: I should have! WTF was I thinking! Bleeping pussies not running up the score! Why did I not check the weather before the game! I did not know the starting RB and QB were out! Should I go on? It is a marathon not a sprint. Bet the games you feel strong about with a little more money and bet the games you have no clue at with minimum bets! My 20s were interesting times. Now as I get older I look at it as fun.

I just put another 1500 on Nebraska. That is a total of 2500. The spread was at 6. My contact then blurts over the phone it is at 5 1/2. Then he calls it in and it is at 5. I get locked again at 5 points. How much does it take to move a spread a full point in less then 3 minutes? In other words Some heavy California betting or the fix is in IE Washington game holiday bowl!

I used to gamble regularly on college and pro football but haven't in quite a few years. Actually, to be specific, I have not really gambled hardly at all since the 97 season. I killed that year with both my Huskers and Denver Broncos doing very well. I made enough that I was sure I would never have that good of a season again so I quit. I started out running bets for a bookie when I was at UNL in the early 80's (he actually let me keep the juice). I'd balance my books and only have to send him the net losses. Long story short- He not only took bets but placed his own as well, he did not do well and was taken on a car ride by some of his "contacts" in KC. I don't think it was clear to him if he would survive that little trip but he did- long enough to sell his house and business to get out of debt with some scary folks. I discovered through that and many subsequent years of placing bets that it simply boils down to luck. Sure you can study teams and lines and figure out who you think SHOULD cover but, I saw way too many cases where the team that should've covered did not. Vegas is darn good at what they do setting lines and that in essence turns the whole idea of betting into a coin flip IMO. The exception being when you are fortunate enough to find a sizable difference in lines on the same game, bet both ways, and hope it lands in the middle. But, a 2 to 3 point line gap is rare to find.

A guy may get lucky once in awhile and put together a streak but reality says that what will happen is you'll win about 50% and lose about 50% which means best case you are going to lose the juice. i.e. if you win $100 for every $110 you lose, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out you're gonna lose in the end. But, it sure can make watching games more interesting, exciting, stressful, etc. If you've got the time to commit to it and the money to lose, I see nothing wrong with it as a source of entertainment. But, if you approach it with the idea of actually making money or needing to win, that would be a very good time to stop.

Man, this makes my college job seem awfully lame. I agree that the only one who makes money in the long run is the House. I think the same could be said for those poor fools in the '90s and early '00s who tried to make money daytrading.

you are dead on! I cannot argue that! This thread for me and gambling is about the ups and downs of it. Just play money for me. Biggest year I ever had was 6 digits. worst year I ever had was losing 32 grand. Now I have limits as i have gotten older and place a ceiling of what I am allowed to bet is all. 5 grand is the ceiling for me this year. Making a living at this is impossible year round. Only the house wins!

I would like to know where or how you place your bets I am looking for a place if you don't want to post on here you can PM me. I am looking to put some money down on some games.

Go Big Red!

Huskerholic: I have a contact in Vegas. I contact him and he places my bets for me. Online is the only other way I would know how to do it. I just do not trust my luck with computers and never knowing what the feds are going to do with online gambling sites. Some guys on this board use online sites. They might be able to help you out. There is Bodog, Bavado, 5 dime sports ( I think that is the name of it)
