Skull&Bones
I am an avid shooter and like to purchase a different gun every year. This upcoming year I am looking at buying a Springfield 1911 (45) I was looking at the TRP, Loaded or Range Officer. Anyone on here own a 1911? If so what make and how do you like it? Thanks Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
The TRP has been the gun I've drooled over the past two years. I can't find one in any of the local shops around here and I don't think my wife likes the fact that it'll cost me between $1,200 to $1,600 for the TRP. Out of all of those I'd pick the TRP. rawhide
I own a TRP with full light rail. Been problem free for 6+ years. Just normal cleaning. 1500+ rds through it. A co-worker of my son's has almost every model of Springfield 1911 other than a TRP. I hate it when he drools on it BRI has never drooled on my TRP setting the record straight As far as different models; more of a checkbook kinda thing. Not a huge difference in quality. My son swears by his Sig 220 Elite but it's also his duty weapon Quote Link to comment
Skull&Bones
Thanks for the feedback Rawhide. I am thinking about getting the the RO and making any upgrades later. After talking to several 1911 owner's it sounds like you really can't go wrong with any of those three. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for your TRP? Quote Link to comment
rawhide
1300 bout 6 years ago Looked in the blue plastic case (nasty)and found the price tag 1479. The sporting goods store where I bought it barely had time to tag it before I just happened to walk in.Gave me a discount because it didn't sit around long. They're about the same now but most dont have the full light rail; which is kinda good thing. Most holsters don't like the full rail I keep a tlr-2 on my rail unless I'm at the range with it. Red dot for where it's goin and the light to see their face Zombiez are not welcome in my house. GBR S.A. get real with the cases, my S&W R8 .357 came in a nice aluminum case :)now I use that case for both Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Those full rails are harder to come by since they were earlier in the generation of these 1911's. They call it the Robocop gun cause of it's looks when there is no light mounted. Quote Link to comment
rawhide
Did have 1911 $5 gold pieces mounted in the grips. well, not real ones, they're fake not gonna put two of my pieces on my gun and then lose a $200 coin Quote Link to comment
Skull&Bones
That's a sweet looking gun rawhide. I'll let you know what I decide to get. I am for sure going to get a Springfield though. All the different reviews I read I don't think you can go wrong for the money. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Nope, they build quality guns with great prices for what you get. You want to get real crazy you can start looking at some Les's, but I hear you'll spend the money for them too. Quote Link to comment
rawhide
Wilson Combat $$$ Coonan makes a .357 1911 kinda pricey too. then there's that new 2011 double barrel 1911 DAMN Quote Link to comment

I'm toying with the idea of getting a Springfield Range Officer--putting it in my own stocking for Christmas. A gun shop in my little town has one for sale for $739, NIB. I think that's a pretty decent price, isn't it? Quote Link to comment
rawhide
Sounds like a pretty good price to me. Kali prices are usually elevated over the rest of the nation, 'cept for Ill. , or Mass. I shot my buddy's RO and other than a little difference in wt distribution from mine; worked just fine. Quote Link to comment
CornHOLIO
If guns kill people, how does anyone make it out of a gun show alive? Quote Link to comment
rawhide
I believe only Prez Obama, Ms. Pelosi, Feinstein or Mayor Bloomberg or Mayor Emanuel have the appropriate knowledge to completely answer your question CornHolio. :D :D :D J/K if we continue down this road I'll have to move this thread to the P & R forum Quote Link to comment
