mrandyk
Not to rub it in, but Southern Miss last year had to have been about the single most disappointing team ever fielded in major college football. I do believe they were returning most of the team that went 12-2, won Conference USA, and finished ranked in the top 20. A conservative expectation for the season had to have been 9 or 10 wins, and they went 0-12. Baffling that a coaching change could ruin a team like that, and perhaps even more confusing is that he was able to turn around get a defensive coordinator position at Auburn. 1 Quote Link to comment

They had a very hard schedule to start off the year, and I believe lost quite a bit of their starters, and combine that with a new coach. USC would my vote for under performing under-performing of the year. Quote Link to comment

No. We had a hard opening schedule as three of the first 5 games. You can't tell me that Western Kentucky beating you down 42-17 is because of hard schedule. Western Kentucky. And this game was at the beginning of the season. I agree with randy. Wasn't even close that we were the most dissapointing team in recent history. By that I mean the last 30 or 40 years. But I do have one correction randy. It wasn't the most dissapointing team ever fielded in major college football. It was the most dissapointing, pathetic, and ignorant college football COACHING STAFF ever hired and performed in major college football. Amazing what can happen in a year. Quote Link to comment
TheEagleWay4
Not to mention we're in more of a bind financially because of a large tornado ripping through our campus. How are you guys doing with the recovery? Getting things put back together? Well, for the most part. Some even say that we benefitted from the damage. Insurance completely covered brand new field turf in the stadium and a brand new (and nicer) scoreboard. I'm really starting to wish the tornado had destroyed our basketball arena. (sarcasm) Today began the implementation of the "Southern Miss Beautification Project" which is basically restoration and improvement of the landscape that was ravaged by the storm. Add that along with the completely new dorms and all the new buildings going up, good things are happening at Southern Miss. We're slowly making our way out the rut we've been in. Now if only this conference realignment crap would sort itself out putting us in a good situation athletically. Quote Link to comment

We aren't just getting this stuff for free because people feel sorry for us. Quote Link to comment
