husker_99
I'm not sure I'd equate that two year old recording in the aftermath of a game and press conference of how Pelini treats people in private. He was still in full coach mode with the tape. Exactly. If half the things I said while playing Mario Kart were perceived as the way I honestly consistently feel about my family, friends, princess Peach, bananas, etc., people would probably think I was an angry jerk, but thankfully no one cares enough to record/leak that kind of thing. I'd rather no one passes judgement on me by my actions in my worst moment, so I ought not do it either. difference is he gets paid 3 million dollars a year and represent Nebraska. how much per year do you get paid playing Mario Kart? The fact that he is in a high-dollar, high-profile profession is why people notice and care. But it doesn't make his angry outburst any more of a reflection of his true character, IMO. maybe he doesn't handle adversity well. have you ever seen Bo mad outside a husker game? I don't think any of us have. hard to say we know his true character. Quote Link to comment
AFhusker
If I am going to war on the field, I want Bo in my corner. I am/was the type of athlete who needed someone to be in my face making sure I was doing the right thing and I had a lot more respect for my coaches that were honest than I did with sunshine pumpers. I appreciate Bo's intensity and LOVE for his players. Current and former players backed him when all of the a-holes were trying to get rid of him and badgering him over every little thing he did. What I don't understand is when people say, "he is not the Nebraska way." What exactly is the Nebraska Way? Do they want him in bib overalls acting like a hick on the sidelines? Acting like TO? Maybe Devaney...if I recall, Devaney was a pretty big hot head. This is why NU would have problems getting a better coach as long as Tom is around. Everything needs to be done his "the Nebraska" way. That is why he hired two inexperienced guys who he trusted to do things his way, with his assistants. Penn State just lost their HC for the same reasons.....the JoPa people were pushing a good coach to change his ways to be more like their legend. Well times have changed and it is time to move on to the present/future of the program. It is ok to cherish the past, but leave it there and move forward and until this state/university do the same, we will be stuck with the mediocre results that have plagued us for 16 years. husker_99
or maybe he is just that competitive. if that was true then the way offense and defense would suggest he's not playing the scheme that fits his players and puts them in the best position to win. Quote Link to comment
