Eric the Red
I hope to see whether he is as big a hitter as advertised. Bring the wood!! Bowman was suppose to be a great tackler and hitter aswell but he didn't live up to that. Hopefully this guy can in that department. Near the end of the season he stopped thinking and started playing becasue he understood what the coaches wanted and understood the defense. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Nebraska secondary set to get a shot of Florida talent Andre Jones didn't take a direct route to Lincoln, but now that he is a Nebraska Cornhusker he will get a chance to make a direct impact on their season in '06. The former standout from Choctawatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida originally committed to Kentucky in 2003. He only played a handful of games for the Wildcats before being knocked out of action with a leg injury. After earning a medical redshirt for the 03’ season, Jones transferred to Fresno City Junior College, and two full seasons with in that program paid big dividends for Jones. He earned a 5-star rating from Rivals.com and was touted as one of the top five junior college recruiting prospects in the nation this past year. The Cornhuskers landed him in early February and are expecting big things from him. Jones should see plenty of playing time right away and could eventually be the starter once 2006 season finally rolls around. Andre Jones is a big kid, standing 6-0 and weighing 192 pounds, but what's most impressive is that he packs cornerback speed and quickness in that safety-style build. The former Florida high school standout has been clocked in the mid 4.4 range in the 40-yard dash and has agility to stay with most college wide receivers. Though he also has experience as a kick returner, Jones will likely pay off the biggest dividends in a Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive backfield that was ranked 43rd in the nation against the pass, allowing just under 208 yards per game. Those statistics aren't bad, but there's definitely room for improvement, and Jones could provide just be the one to provide it. Quote Link to comment

Guest greenbayhusker
1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? He has speed and he looks strong too. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 8 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Yes. He should start at cornerback. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? I'll wait until I see him play to draw comparisons. 5) Where do you see this player in 2010? NFL Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
I like that he describes himself as a Deion Sanders that can hit. Given the chance he'll bring more swagger back to the D. Quote Link to comment

Eric the Red
Some questions revolving him being cleared to play ...grade wise Quote Link to comment
KansasHusker
Looking around...it looks as if he won't make the grades, nor will Steve Allen... edit: rivals says one of them won't...don't know which one yet...unless your an insider. Quote Link to comment
Klotz for Hire
Steve Allen will not be coming to Nebraska. Rivals has reported that he had attended too many JUCO's prior to signing with a D-1 school. He has not been reached for comment on this by Rivals. Andre Jones reports that Allen will go to West Texas or some other DII school to finish his playing career. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Allen would have been a good addition but we are luckily stacked at LB right now. Hopefully Jones can get resolved. Quote Link to comment
ForeverRed
Jones has passed everything and will make it to Lincoln. Thank God! No more bad news please! Quote Link to comment
