Record vs Ranked Teams

Recommended Posts

With all the discussion I thought I would take the time to compare records of all NU coaches since 2000 verses ranked teams. The catch from other comparisons is this is teams ranked at the end of the season. Ranked at the time isn't worth much in my book. Look at the SEC this year. Early on teams were hyped after beating South Carolina or A&M and getting a lot of publicity. Now many teams are beating them.

Can't really say any of the records are impressive. Bo's 5 wins came in years 3 (2), 4 (1) and 5 (2).

Here it is...

Bo (using 2014 current rankings)

5 wins (2 vs top 15, 0 vs top 10)

18 losses (14 vs top 15, 9 vs top 10)

Cally

1 win (#25 Pittsburgh)

11 losses (8 vs top 15, 6 vs top 10)

Fighting Frankie (2000 and onward)

3 wins (2 vs top 15, 1 vs top 10)

10 losses (8 vs top 15, 6 vs top 10)

I guess I don't understand not crediting Frankie for 1998 or 1999.

1-3 vs teams ranked in the final AP in 1998

4-1 vs. teams ranked in the final AP in 1999

So that gives us:

Fighting Frankie (2000 and onward)

8 wins

14 losses

Frankie: 36.4% win %

Cally: 8% win %

Bo: 21.7% win %
