mel4red
Interesting NOT ! It will remain a short list of those before 1900, two each during the great wars, and the final one stuck in the middle of the "Dark Ages" of Husker football. (Ironically, he had been an assistant at Oregon State) The current coach from Oregon State isn't going to join that list. Quote Link to comment
mel4red
BTW, check the list of one year wonders at Yale. They got NU in spades in the short term coach department. Quote Link to comment
NebraskaShellback
Shocking Answer: NEBRASKA 1: Langdon Frothingham (1890) : He went back east to teach, he was appointed a HC because he had a ball. 2: T.U. Lyman (1891) : Only coached one game, a lawyer from Omaha, he was really not qualified so to speak 3: J.S. Williams (1892) 4: Charles Thomas (1895) 5: Fielding H Yost (1898): Coached until UNL could hire an HC 6: Alonzo Edwin Branch (1899) 7: William G. Kline (1918) 8: Glenn Presnell (1942) 9: Pete Elliott (1956) 10: ? Forgot Amos Foster 1906 George Clark was the AD and coached 1945 and 48 no coach for those years were hired Coaching at Nebraska for most coaches are from one year to 8, the exceptions; Devaney and Ozzy Edited November 3, 2015 by NebraskaShellback Quote Link to comment

secretasianman
Some of those shouldn't count for much since some of those were in the days of dysentery or war Quote Link to comment
