Jarred04
sorry to return the thread to "normal," but what does everyone think about spring games on TV. I know coaches see enough tape on opponents, but I don't know if I would neccessarily want the NU game televised. It's not like OU needs exposure, either. Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
I would love to watch our spring game. Being so far away from Lincoln it would be great to be able to watch it. Quote Link to comment

Eric the Red
Huskers Gearing up for Busy Weekend in Lincoln The Nebraska Athletic Department is preparing for one of its busiest weekends of the year, with several sports in action at home from Thursday to Saturday. The weekend will be highlighted by the annual Red-White Spring Football Game on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. In addition to the Red-White game, several other Nebraska teams will be in action in Lincoln this weekend, including the sixth-ranked Husker baseball team, the No. 17 Nebraska softball team, the Husker track and field teams and spring contests for the Nebraska soccer and volleyball teams. With the large number of activities and large crowds expected for several events, Husker fans should consider the following notes regarding the Red-White game. Advance tickets are available on-line at Huskers.com, and tickets may also be purchased the day of the game. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors (60 and over) and students not taking the Drug Free Pledge. University students and staff are free with their N Card. Memorial Stadium capacity for the spring game will be approximately 57,000 seats. The North Stadium will not be available to fans because of on-going construction at Memorial Stadium. Students taking the Drug Free Pledge at halftime will be admitted for free. Drug Free participants should meet by the columns on the East side of the stadium at approximately 11 a.m., and seating will be in the South Stadium. Ticket selling areas on game day include the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office; Gates 10, 20 and 24; the intersection of “U” Street and Stadium Drive; and near the columns by Ed Weir Track Stadium. The ticket office will be open for ticket sales beginning at 9 a.m. The following gates will be open for fans—Gates 2, 3, 4 and 10 on the West Side and Gates 20 and 24 on the East Side. Stadium gates will open at 11 a.m. Seating for disabled fans will be available in Section 14D (southeast corner). The Red-White Game will have the same restrictions in place regarding prohibited items in Memorial Stadium, including umbrellas, backpacks, coolers and glassware. In addition, with the passage of a new concealed weapons law in the state of Nebraska, fans are reminded that concealed weapons are not allowed on the UNL campus and are prohibited at all collegiate sporting events. Parking will be at a premium on Saturday. Parking lots in close proximity to Memorial Stadium will be reserved and require a parking permit. UNL Parking Services will staff campus lots east of 14th street, with a $5 charge for public parking. Fans planning to attend the softball or baseball game following the spring game are encouraged to park at Haymarket Park. Fans arriving for the Nebraska Invitational track meet are encouraged to utilize the parking garage at 14th and Holdrege streets. StarTran will be providing a shuttle service from South Pointe Pavilion at 27th and Pine Lake Road and from Slumberland at 27th and Superior. The buses will drop off and park in Lot 12 on the east side of Memorial Stadium. The Husker Nation Pavilion will be open on Stadium Drive, beginning at 10 a.m. The Husker Nation Pavilion will feature its normal variety of games, family fun and vendors. Eric the Red
For Many A Hardcore Husker, The 2006-07 Football Season Has Begun April 10, 2006 Nebraska will soon complete the 15 workouts the NCAA allows football programs in the Spring. In some other places, Spring drills are not bill things. For die-hard Husker fans, they mark the beginning of the 2006-2007 football season. Who does what, and what Coach Bill Callahan says about it, are the small sparks that presage the conflagration that roars across the state in August. First come the daily reports on the workouts. Who’s hurt. Who’s bigger? Faster? Stronger? Smarter? After those 15 workouts, a lot of fans take it easy. Most of them, probably. Then, there are “the others.” Those whose blood runs Husker red. Those whose heart and soul, if not their buttocks, is tattooed with an NU logo. Maybe Harry Husker. Or Li’l Red. For them, the end of Spring drills means analysis. Conversation. Argument. Blogs. Chat rooms. Even hitting the Internet to research the Spring doings of coming Husker opponents. As usual, the Spring drill and post-Spring drill season is a boon to sportswriters and broadcasters. Whenever a story is needed, Spring football is there. Not only is it fodder for endless stories, it is fodder for stories that will unquestionably have a bid audience. As for Callahan, he goes about the business of putting a cohesive team together. “Today was a good practice,” Callahan said last week. “The last two days that we have practiced have been really physical practices. We’ve had a lot of fun the last two days, and our guys are getting better. I’m really proud of this football team and I have seen marked improvement across the board. I like the fact that we continue to run the ball, and overall we are looking good and we just need to be strong heading into next week.” Such offerings, by themselves, might quench the thirst of the everyday NU supporter. It is hardly a drop in a thimble for those insatiable denizens of the Husker Nation in Nebraska and around the country. They want more. Who could hope to number the host of Huskerites who think the Internet was solely designed for the purposes of keeping up with every sprained ankle in the Nebraska locker room, and scouting the opposition, and keeping tabs on those Husker-hating, big-time sports analysts at the big-shot newspapers and networks? Many are the men and women whose keyboard skills were developed and honed for the sake of good old Nebraska U … as it applies to the gridiron. End of Spring depth charts will be the next big thing for the faithful. And then, any reports of academic or social problems among top players prior to the first kickoff. And then, fall practice. And for now ... hit the web road to HuskerPedia.com and read until your eyes wear out! Quote Link to comment
