BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Any more speculation who the next team added to the schedule might be? I'm gonna say it's South Carolina. link NU Notes: Huskers continue to tinker with schedule BY RICH KAIPUST WORLD-HERALD BUREAU RELATED STORY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- » NU football schedule LINCOLN - Nebraska locked up a home-and-home football series with Virginia Tech last week, and head coach Bill Callahan said the Huskers are working on another that would supply some good competition for the future. "We're closing in on another contract that'll be announced in a few days," Callahan said, "that I think people will be excited about." Both Callahan and NU Athletic Director Steve Pederson declined to specify an opponent or what seasons the games would be played. "You like to schedule top teams," Callahan said. "I do. It just makes it more competitive." NU and Virginia Tech will play in Lincoln in 2008 and Blacksburg in 2009 in the first regular-season games between the schools. The Huskers start a 2006-2007 series with Southern Cal when they travel to Los Angeles on Sept. 16. "We like to recruit out East, down South, on the West Coast, so we love this kind of exposure," Callahan said. "I'm in favor of getting the good teams on the schedule and creating the home-and-homes." Quote Link to comment

DJR313
I'm gonna say it's South Carolina. That'd be interesting for sure. I am gonna say Florida St. since we were reportedly talking to them a while back. Either one would be interesting. Quote Link to comment

TheCropDuster
a little birdie told me that it's most likely a SEC school. My guess and this little birdie's guess is that most likely it'll be Georgia. But that's purely speculation.... Quote Link to comment
husker rob
after playing florida schools in the orange bowl for all of those years it would be nice to have them come up to Nebraska and play when the wind is howling and it is butt ass cold. Quote Link to comment
Guest greenbayhusker
I hope we schedule an SEC team. It would be nice to prove to thoes SEC lovers out there that the SEC isn't better than everybody else. Also, it'd help recruiting. I would love to see us play Florida, Florida State, or even Miami (FL). I could also see us playing Georgia, LSU, or possibly Tennessee. Alabama or Arkansas seems like a stretch, but it could happen. Either way, I definitely support scheduling these strong non-conference games. I can't wait to see who we schedule! Quote Link to comment

BIGREDIOWAN
This will shut up all of these Iowa fans here who talk about how tough their schedules are and how easy Nebraska's schedule is. I think this is a step in the right direction IMO. Quote Link to comment

AR Husker Fan
oh god please be a SEC team. Better yet - let it be Arkansas! I'm only 15 minutes from their Little Rock stadium, and only 3 hours from their Fayetteville stadium. Quote Link to comment
