  1. 1. Christian Gaylord 2. Jalin Barnett 3. Matt Snyder 4&5. Davis Twins 6. Michael Decker Sleeper - Alex Davis
  2. Anyone have 2 tickets to this for sale? Waited for the weather to clear only to find out that admission is shut down. Many thanks if so.
  3. If there was a football Bible, Langsdorf would be preaching from it with those words. Accuracy, ball security, balance. A system. And now for Burrow...
  4. Has Derek Dooley been mentioned? Current WR coach for Dallas. When the Robert Prince rumor popped, it was said that the new NU coach was coaching in that (Det/Dal) game...was the wrong name inadvertently attached? Dooley had a horrific experience as a HC at Tennessee but prior to that was an up and coming and well respected coach under Saban's wing. With at least one high profile WR lining up a January visit, one would think that the name is known but not released.
  5. If I were to predict how the D looks in 2015 and beyond, I would look for us to recruit to a 4-3 base but really operate out of both a 3 and 4 man front. Having the ability to switch from one to the other presents a lot of possibilities for a DC to utilize - and be ready to deal with as an oppossing OC.
  6. Banker ran a 4-3 at OSU, not a 3-4. Hughes ran a 4-2-5. Speculation began to run rampant when the Davis twins were talking about playing in a 3-4 in 2015 but NU's base D is most likely to remain a 4-3. Both Banker and Hughes systems seem to be dictated upon speed, aggression, and stopping the run...all things I am looking forward to.
  7. Good talent evaluation mixed with an aggressive recruiting strategy topped off with inventive extras (such as satellite camps) will spell relevancy. Very impressive. Not to overlook or undersell the USC game but I am eager to see the new coaching staff completed, get through the dead period, and be on to 2015.
  8. For a S/C coach, job knowledge and experience are obvious prerequisites but the buy-in of the student athlete is the key to success IMHO. It seems as if Philipp comes with high marks for his ability to relate to the players and that should work wonders. Given the situation - Riley truly has to coach up the entire program, from the secretaries to the players and each person in between, to get everyone united on one path with the same goals in mind. Tall task but thus far he seems uniquely qualified to do so. In my book, a hire like Philipp is a good (and needed) step in that direction.
  9. I see that he has committed to Baylor. Makes sense.
  10. Seems JT got his medical redshirt so he should be back...which is a good thing. Will be interesting to see what he can do in a Riley offense.
  11. Players have the potential to get punished for lack of judgement issues in every program. Whether they are late (or skip) meetings, screw up in the classroom, or screw up off the field, it happens. A lack of judgement incident equals a punishment of some sort, it's pretty simple. Dead raccoon or not, this was a lack of judgement issue that deserved reprimand. Personally, I have no problem with the punishment of 2 quarters. College kid or not, you can not be a representative of something (in this case NU football) and go online and be a complete moron without thinking it will have the opportunity to come back on you. Had he done the same thing but only told his buddies about it, then he wouldn't be in this situation. 20-something year olds make mistakes, we all did, & for the mistakes we got caught for, we usually got into trouble. No matter where opinion falls on the issue though, this will add another log to the fire for those that already hate SE.
  12. I am happy. Not a fit on or off the field for NU. Addition by subtraction.
  13. That's a lot of 'what if's'. The interim staff should have a high incentive to win this game no matter their loyalties or dislikes. But I think it is easy to find the answer to your question by simply holding each of the assistants to their words. For those that have been interviewed since, their flag flies with the Fightin' Pelini's, not the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. From Barney's four-point message (telling players to "honor Bo with your loyalty and love and support"), to Beck's interview (explaining how TERRIBLY difficult it is to do what he is asked to do in a place like Lincoln), to all the rumors about Beck's and Kaz's separate outbursts over the past few weeks. Bo's staff was largely Bo's guys, guys that owed Bo for their existence at this level (with the exceptions of RB and CW). I hope for a win for the players and the program but, right or wrong, I feel like the sooner the whole lot of Bo's guys can clean out their offices, the better.
  14. Good point on the JC route. Things got weird with Dillman well prior to this week and given that situation, proving yourself at the JUCO level would make the best sense for everyone involved. Would love to see him steered to Iowa Western CC.
  15. One is led to believe that there was no coincidence in the fact that Riley and staff reached out to every holdover commit with two obvious exceptions. Lundie and Dillman. The two recruits who both had known qualification risks. If we (fans) know about the existence of qualification risks, does it not stand to reason that more detailed information is known to those who are directly involved? So if a student doesn't academically qualify for college, who is more responsible for the lack of the scholarship offer, the student or the institution? Time will tell.
