  1. 1. Mike Brown(football smarts, athleticism, is a literal on the field coach like Singletary was) 2. Ralph Brown(as nuch or maybe a bit more althletic, but not an on field coach like Mike) 3. Gomes(The best Secondary player I have seen since the brown brothers when you watched him play by play during the game) He didn't get the hype of some of the other players for some reason
  2. I believe that our secondary is good(green is the worst secondary player of the starters, IMO). Our front 7 are not good, though. (on both sides of the ball we are weaker than the "big boys" up front and it shows in games like this. Look at our top teams and our top seasons and you will see great play up front on both sides dictating the game. Of course, the skill players are important(and I think we have talented skill players right now)
  3. I can't even know how you think that after watching today's game. Honestly. It was not just based on today. I give our secondary a C+ today. They were up against an NFL quarterback and had to cover receivers for extra seconds because of the terrible D-Line play. The front 7 own the passing game when they can't get enough pressure up front even with blitzes. That is my opinion. Thanks for yours...
  4. 1. That Burkhead is a beast. Taylor not so much. 2. That we need a pipeline like we used to have. We need to focus on recruiting both "O" and "D" lines. 3. That our secondary is good. 4. That our receivers are good. 5. That we probably won't legitimately contend for the MNC next year. 6. That we need to start thinking about the next Nebraska quarterback and getting enough snaps for the backup to make a difference. 7. That our team discipline was better but still needs work. 8. That the Jimmies and Johnies matter more than the X's and O's(all things being equal) 9. That we need to focus on practice, practice and more practice. 10. That until we win up front consistently, we will not contend for national championships or BCS bowl victories. 11. That I still root for and love the big red. I am going to deck out my office with Husker gear in San Antonio.
  5. Seriously. This is not a question. We know what the answer is.
  6. The bathrooms are nicer(the troughs are fine) and people don't pee in the sinks like we all did in the 90's when in college....
  7. WE NEED TO WIN OUT. BCS bowl game. Yes my hopes are high. If we are going to send a man to the moon, we better shoot high!!!
  8. You guys should be that much more proud of what has been accomplished athletically with all these points. Slight edit though. Nebraska isnt the only venue in town. It's the only one in the state. No one was saying Northwestern was a bad team or shouldnt be proud of the run they've had. The point was that stadium was a joke and it doesn't have anything to do with size. The sound system was run off of a pair of speakers that looked like home audio speakers. The video scoreboard can't be seen by many and it looks like a 42inch Panasonic. The concessions and restrooms were comical and the place was dirty and needed a bath. Yes it is a private school and yes there has been a LOT of money go through that school. Just spend some of it to enhance the fans experience. The fans were cool and the actual city of Evanston is nice. Just not their digs. oh, the panasonic!!! Texas A&M's stadium stinks next to Nebraska's too. Baylor is like a high school venue next to Memorial. I wish I could be home for a couple of seasons. Guess I will have to settle for SDSU next year..... Husker fans doing the wave in the third quarter @ Baylor was fun, though. We also did HUSKER POWER.
  9. I must be too old for this board. I remember a fiery redheaded coach slamming a clip board or dropping to all fours and yelling at refs. It might have been a dangumit instead of a far more colorful set of words, but he got after it. I have seen the clips. There is a difference, though. He literally turned the whole program around and won a couple of titles, in ten years. I don't know if Bo is the same type. Maybe....
  10. Ohio State dominated both lines of scrim against us(just like we did today against NW) We are not ready for Bama and LSU yet, fella.
  11. There are a few people I can compare Tom to that are currently coaching when you look at demeanor: Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly(he is the most like him), Les Miles. If you looked at Tom on the sidelines, you couldn't tell it the team was up by 50 or down by 20(I never remember losing by more than 25(Ga Tech was the worst in my opinion in the bowl game). The talent level is very high on offense, not so much on D. We are nothing talent wise compared to most of the 80's and all of the 90's.(although we got killed in the bowl games and never seemed to beat OK in the big game) We had the best lineman in all of those years. I would call us lineman U before running back U.... Of course we had great RB's too.... Brian Kelly is the most like him. Tom was all about self improvement, not concentrating on your opponent, only on playing your best football every play. He is a master motivator but was known as a micromanager. Once he let go of the reins on offensive play calling(to the genius, Solich) and moved athletes from offense to defense(got more speed and athleticism on D), we started that huge run. Tom knew we had all of the talent at that point, though. He knew to get out of his own way. We aren't close to that yet but it is obvious that Bo has adopted Tom's philosophy of tough practice, running the ball and controlling the line of scrimage. What I meant by not concentrating on the opponent was "the player worked on "their game"... Of corse they prepared for the opponent. He just tried to not make it "personal" toward the opponent. It is bad pyschology to worry about the other guy. Play YOUR best game and concentrate solely on that. Never be out of position, etc....

  13. I the defense plays really well next week in a victory over MI and shoelace, I may think that blackshirts can be handed out. They still haven't put together a full 4 quarters of excellent D. T-Mart keeps improving and our offense is really good.(not great, good) Need to limit turnovers or we are in trouble....
  14. I saw questionable calls both ways. Nothing horrible IMO.
  15. He is maturing. We are watching it each week. Maybe by the end of the year I will completely change my mind lie I did with Scott Frost after 1996-1997 bowl game. In that bowl game he executed the option to perfection for the first time. Ball security and good decisions are vital. Still hated the late 3rd and 14 when he almost threw the pick. He still has a ways to go....
