  1. 1. Mike Brown(football smarts, athleticism, is a literal on the field coach like Singletary was) 2. Ralph Brown(as nuch or maybe a bit more althletic, but not an on field coach like Mike) 3. Gomes(The best Secondary player I have seen since the brown brothers when you watched him play by play during the game) He didn't get the hype of some of the other players for some reason
  2. I believe that our secondary is good(green is the worst secondary player of the starters, IMO). Our front 7 are not good, though. (on both sides of the ball we are weaker than the "big boys" up front and it shows in games like this. Look at our top teams and our top seasons and you will see great play up front on both sides dictating the game. Of course, the skill players are important(and I think we have talented skill players right now)
  3. I can't even know how you think that after watching today's game. Honestly. It was not just based on today. I give our secondary a C+ today. They were up against an NFL quarterback and had to cover receivers for extra seconds because of the terrible D-Line play. The front 7 own the passing game when they can't get enough pressure up front even with blitzes. That is my opinion. Thanks for yours...
  4. 1. That Burkhead is a beast. Taylor not so much. 2. That we need a pipeline like we used to have. We need to focus on recruiting both "O" and "D" lines. 3. That our secondary is good. 4. That our receivers are good. 5. That we probably won't legitimately contend for the MNC next year. 6. That we need to start thinking about the next Nebraska quarterback and getting enough snaps for the backup to make a difference. 7. That our team discipline was better but still needs work. 8. That the Jimmies and Johnies matter more than the X's and O's(all things being equal) 9. That we need to focus on practice, practice and more practice. 10. That until we win up front consistently, we will not contend for national championships or BCS bowl victories. 11. That I still root for and love the big red. I am going to deck out my office with Husker gear in San Antonio.
  5. Seriously. This is not a question. We know what the answer is.
  6. The bathrooms are nicer(the troughs are fine) and people don't pee in the sinks like we all did in the 90's when in college....
  7. WE NEED TO WIN OUT. BCS bowl game. Yes my hopes are high. If we are going to send a man to the moon, we better shoot high!!!
  8. You guys should be that much more proud of what has been accomplished athletically with all these points. Slight edit though. Nebraska isnt the only venue in town. It's the only one in the state. No one was saying Northwestern was a bad team or shouldnt be proud of the run they've had. The point was that stadium was a joke and it doesn't have anything to do with size. The sound system was run off of a pair of speakers that looked like home audio speakers. The video scoreboard can't be seen by many and it looks like a 42inch Panasonic. The concessions and restrooms were comical and the place was dirty and needed a bath. Yes it is a private school and yes there has been a LOT of money go through that school. Just spend some of it to enhance the fans experience. The fans were cool and the actual city of Evanston is nice. Just not their digs. oh, the panasonic!!! Texas A&M's stadium stinks next to Nebraska's too. Baylor is like a high school venue next to Memorial. I wish I could be home for a couple of seasons. Guess I will have to settle for SDSU next year..... Husker fans doing the wave in the third quarter @ Baylor was fun, though. We also did HUSKER POWER.
  9. I must be too old for this board. I remember a fiery redheaded coach slamming a clip board or dropping to all fours and yelling at refs. It might have been a dangumit instead of a far more colorful set of words, but he got after it. I have seen the clips. There is a difference, though. He literally turned the whole program around and won a couple of titles, in ten years. I don't know if Bo is the same type. Maybe....
  10. Ohio State dominated both lines of scrim against us(just like we did today against NW) We are not ready for Bama and LSU yet, fella.
  11. There are a few people I can compare Tom to that are currently coaching when you look at demeanor: Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly(he is the most like him), Les Miles. If you looked at Tom on the sidelines, you couldn't tell it the team was up by 50 or down by 20(I never remember losing by more than 25(Ga Tech was the worst in my opinion in the bowl game). The talent level is very high on offense, not so much on D. We are nothing talent wise compared to most of the 80's and all of the 90's.(although we got killed in the bowl games and never seemed to beat OK in the big game) We had the best lineman in all of those years. I would call us lineman U before running back U.... Of course we had great RB's too.... Brian Kelly is the most like him. Tom was all about self improvement, not concentrating on your opponent, only on playing your best football every play. He is a master motivator but was known as a micromanager. Once he let go of the reins on offensive play calling(to the genius, Solich) and moved athletes from offense to defense(got more speed and athleticism on D), we started that huge run. Tom knew we had all of the talent at that point, though. He knew to get out of his own way. We aren't close to that yet but it is obvious that Bo has adopted Tom's philosophy of tough practice, running the ball and controlling the line of scrimage. What I meant by not concentrating on the opponent was "the player worked on "their game"... Of corse they prepared for the opponent. He just tried to not make it "personal" toward the opponent. It is bad pyschology to worry about the other guy. Play YOUR best game and concentrate solely on that. Never be out of position, etc....

  13. I the defense plays really well next week in a victory over MI and shoelace, I may think that blackshirts can be handed out. They still haven't put together a full 4 quarters of excellent D. T-Mart keeps improving and our offense is really good.(not great, good) Need to limit turnovers or we are in trouble....
  14. I saw questionable calls both ways. Nothing horrible IMO.
  15. He is maturing. We are watching it each week. Maybe by the end of the year I will completely change my mind lie I did with Scott Frost after 1996-1997 bowl game. In that bowl game he executed the option to perfection for the first time. Ball security and good decisions are vital. Still hated the late 3rd and 14 when he almost threw the pick. He still has a ways to go....
  16. I was also correct when I told my wife after the third turnover in the first half "If we turn over the ball 4 times, we lose". Otherwise I think we will win. I am wrong all the time so I want to take credit for saying that(even though nobody out here heard me say it)
  17. I disagree with this. Who is to say that the offense doesn't drive down 15-40 yards(after a big kick return or no kick return) for a game winning kick with something like1:14 lft on the clock.. They had coaching mistakes, too. Who takes a timeout on that drive with 1:20 or so on the clock. A definite coaching mistake in my opinion. What benefit is there to take the timeout when you have plenty of time? I am not saying we are "world beaters" but Northwestern has a very good team(only one loss until playing us) that can play ball. We were more physical and are clearly faster and more athletic. Always tough to play the "smart guys" I don't expect a win next week. BUT... If we win, we have a legit chance to play in a BCS bowl. We have more talent than the rest of the teams after Michigan. Just hope we can slow down shoelace
  18. 1, 2 and 3. (all of the above) Ball was freaked by the run blitz right at him!!!
  19. Thanks for the apology. I was responding to the negative nelly. I totally agree with your entire statement and I think in principle, you agree with mine. We need to continue to win ball games, if we don't, Tom Osborne(or whoever the AD is) will make a change if it is needed. When I was growing up, my dad said the same stuff. Oklahoma always got most of the talent and whiners would write in after every OK loss and say we needed to fire TO. He could go 10-2 and there would be a call for his head. I have plenty of patience, TO taught all of us over the age of 35 plenty of patience. BUT.... Having a poorly performing team (like Alabama was under Shula) is not going to be acceptable for fans, and it won't be ok. again, I think we completely agree. Example: A 7-5 team that is fighting and scrapping but lost 4 games by a total of 10 points(and was showing discipline) is not going to get Bo fired if we have the right AD picked. BUT 7-5 or 6-6 for a couple of years around this program is not going to be ok, though.
  20. ^^^^^^ This. And yes, please burn those unis. Burn them with the wiscy unis. There's were just as bad. Nasty...
  21. I disagree with you... The uniforms need to have the "N" and the numbers switched. The big "N" and "W" looked really stinking ugly. I am not a fashionista, though. Currently wearing warm up pants with paint all over them!!!
  22. Posted Today, 12:23 AM another reason for hope: i think this is the best t-mart has ran. i know he has had more yards, but i think he was more elusive tonight. yes, at k-state in 2010 he scorched them. but that was just speed and scheme. tonight, he actually had to make moves and he ran hard. i was impressed with his feet tonight and did not think he was capable of that. agree I liked that he recognized the opportunities to run.
  23. I am sure many of you noticed right after the score that put wisconsin up 17 mid 3rd quarter that the camera panned to the players on the bench (one of who had just scored) They were all giddy like school girls acting like they had just won the game. I hope Bo Pelini points to that and tells em all "THAT IS WHY YOU MUST PLAY FOR FOUR QUARTERS AND EVERY PLAY" We must try to get better, play by play and week to week!!! GBR I just thought it was interesting and I am sure many others on huskerboard saw it, too.
  24. Im glad that I amuse you. I read this board on a regular basis. It's a lot easier to have discussions with people when they play poorly. My opinions of Bo and the direction of this program don't change from week to week. Im not going to come in here and bash Bo when we are beating lowly Idaho State 70-3....thats just pointless. When we play poorly on national tv, in primetime, game after game....and continue to make the same mistakes over and over....that's when I come to the board. I guess I think I can knock some sense into people around here. That's what this forum is for. You don't amuse me, you annoy me, there is a difference, please don't confuse the two. You also find it easier to get people to agree with your point-of-view after a close game or loss because you're working with raw emotions and knee jerk reactions. That way you can have your, "Ha, see I told you people!" moment. I know your opinions don't change from week-to-week, you make that obvious so there is no hiding that. Why won't you bash Bo when we are beating "lowly" Idaho State so badly? Can't you make your points about Bo whether we are winning or losing? Or do you need those "raw emotions" to try and prove your point? I could definitely make my points, regardless of who we are beating. I just chose not to. It's not worth my time or energy to argue every single week with people. People should know that the teams we are beating easily are inferior opponents. The first time Bo wins a game against a team they aren't supposed to beat, I will be the first person here to congratulate him. If I annoy you so much....feel free to NOT click on the topics I create. No sweat off my back. " You better be first next week if we win. You need to chill out. Tom Osborne said it best when he hired Bo: /fired Doc, etc, etc... "if we win and we play hard, you stay" "if we lose and/or they don't play hard or with heart, I will have to fire you" it isn't personal. The tradition at NE is not the walk ons', not the triple option, not the heisman, outland, not the blackshirts, not Bob D or even TO. The tradition at Nebraska is "the winning tradition" we also try to do it with class. (you can be firey and have class). If we don't win, the coach gets fired. period. right now, we are winning just my opinion AND I DIDN'T MEAN THAT WE HAVE TO WIN NEXT WEEK. we are winning if we get 8 wins in my opinion and the team plays hard
