  1. If you all haven't read it yet, Huskerpedia blog has a great article on the game last night and the exchange between Bo & Dirk. The article is called "Huskers Rain Down on Ohio State and Dirk Chatelain." Here is the link: http://huskermike.blogspot.com/2011/10/huskers-rain-down-on-ohio-state-and.html
  2. Where Dirk messed up is when he forgot that a journalist is supposed to report on the stories he or she observes. They are NOT supposed to interject themselves into the story or try to create a story just so they have something to write about. THAT...is where & when Dirk Chatelain crossed the line.
  3. Yeah I didn't agree with the Wildcat call on 4th & 1. We are Nebraska! Line up with the big boys and pound ahead for one...simple...yard. It shouldn't be that hard.
  4. I will use this analogy about the whole Bo vs. Dirk situation: Husker fans are very knowledgable fans when it comes to football. We know good football when we see it. We know bad football when we see it. We know when the game is being played the right way. I think we also know when a sports journalist is offering a fair objective view to what he/she is reporting on, and then we know when a sports journalist is completely...(forgive the term)..."out of bounds." Dirk falls into this "out of bounds" category in my opinion. Too often he is trying to create a story instead of just reporting on the actual story. Anyone care to add to this?
  5. I respectfully disagree. Bo had every right to react the way he did. He wasn't alienating the local media. He was fighting back to 1 lone reporter who has been unfairly attacking his program, and tonight he was just asking Bo pointless questions to frankly, piss Bo off. Bo finally had enough of Chatelain's B.S. What's it say when the rest of the local media clapped in approval for Bo when he left the press conference?
  6. I loved this formation too! It looked like a hybrid formation between the Pistol and the Flexbone. Whatever it was, it worked very well, and needs to stay in the playbook.
  7. We also learned that mobile QB's and QB's who roll out of the pocket are still giving this defense and the Pelini brothers fits. They have to find a way to correct this...soon.
  8. Omaha World Herald reporters have not had a good week. First Jon Nyatawa got a up close and personal view of Bo's fire...now Dirk Chatelain. Bo is swatting them around like flies....and I love it!
  9. What did we learn? We learned that Bo doesn't mind the press when they are actually acting like professional journalists. When they are not, he will call a spade a spade, and that is EXACTLY what he did to Dirk Chatelain. We also learned that the rest of the Nebraska media doesn't like Dirk Chatelain either. How do we know this? By the way they all clapped in approval of Bo to the way he BBQ'd Chatelain in front of his colleagues. That was the most unreal press conference I have ever seen.
  10. Yeah, I couldn't believe what I was witnessing on Live TV. And for the other press members to be applauding the way Bo handled the situation...what does that tell you about how Dirk's colleagues feel about him and his style of journalism? Get a clue Omaha World Herald, either have Dirk figure out how to be a professional journalist or kick him to the curb and find someone who can still be objective, but do it with a little more class.
  11. Dirk wasn't clapping. He wanted his balls back. Ha ha! You're right about that. I am so glad Bo finally stood up to Dirk. In my opinion Dirk is the most unprofessional journalist I have ever witnessed who has covered Nebraska. And the WAY Bo did it was truly...epic!
  12. MOD's if you want to move these comments to the "Presser" thread feel free.
  13. If you got a chance to watch the post-game press conference with Bo it was unbelievable! He pretty much had enough with Dirk Chatelain and went right after him during the press conference. He admitted that he read Chatelain's article from Friday, and Dirk kept asking absolutely stupid questions, so Bo interrupted him and said "I'm done with you. Anyone else have any questions that are worth answering." All I have to say is way to go Bo! It has been clear over the last few seasons that Dirk has something either against Bo or Nebraska itself. I am so glad Pelini had the stones to hold Chatelain's feet to the fire in front of all his colleagues. When Bo left the press conference.....everyone in the press room clapped with approval. That doesn't happen very much...if at all. Way to go Bo!
  14. Pay close attention to the trenches tonight. I think there is a chance tonight that our O-Line will come out and surprise a lot of people. If we are consistently getting 4-5 yards per carry in the first half, whether that is with Burkhead, Martinez, or whoever... it could be a long night for Ohio State.
  15. The Equipment Manager already said a week or so ago that any drastic uniform changes are NOT HAPPENING. We are Nebraska!!! We don't need any uniform changes or gimmicks...stick to tradition. Home Games: red tops, white pants. Away Games: white tops, red pants.
  16. If you like great pizza & beer, check out Lazzari's on 1434 O Street. Also, if you can get into The Experience Room in the Osborne Complex the Friday before game day I would highly recommend it. That video will literally get you pumped up for the game, and the best part is it's free! It's open 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Have a wonderful time at your first Husker game!
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqCKQiCIJWg&noredirect=1 Ha ha! Thank you sd'sker! I needed a good laugh today
  18. I have absolutely no problem with the way Bo reacted and the way he handled the media today. That presser was going fine with fair questions being asked pertaining to the game itself. The reporter who was stuttering over himself and who asked the question at the end that got Bo so heated was Jon Nyatawa from the Omaha World Herald. Now I have liked and respected much of Jon's articles and his reporting in the past, but his last question today to Bo in my opinion was completely out of bounds from a journalistic point of view. I think Bo had every right to react to that question in the manner in which he did. Look everyone, Bo understands that the media is the fans only real inside access to the goings on of the program...he get's that part. When Bo gets mad is when the media starts asking questions that do not pertain to the game of football itself and when they try to create a story that isn't even there. Maybe I am wrong on this, and if so please correct me fairly, but I truly had no problem with Bo's reaction to the media today at all. If anything it is the media that needs to act more professional. Carry on Husker fans....
  19. Thanks for sharing the picture of the field guys! I am surprised that they (the athletic department) didn't paint the "B" in red, but I can understand why they went with the more neutral all white lettering.
  20. $80 for Ohio State is pretty good. I sat in Row 90 last year for the Kansas game. The view is actually not that bad. The only problem my brother & I had last year sitting that high was that it was cold as heck in November. Other than that to be honest with you, there really isn't a bad seat in Memorial Stadium. Granted, some are better than others, but most of the seats give a fair view of the field. Enjoy the game!
