  1. I know just added Holiday, Hunger and Pinstripe bowls. How many total tie-in bowls? Last year, Meineke, Buffalo Wings, Heart of Dallas, Gator, Outback, CapitalOne and Rose bowls. Now 10?
  2. http://espn.go.com/espys/2013/?voting=bestplay&lang=null
  3. NU will wear an alt uniform against UCLA Bad move IMO. It's okay against cupcake team like SDSU but Top25 foe? It reminds me of OUvsNU jinx in 1988 (all red)
  4. Maybe we can wear those colors if we ever try to rekindle our rivalry with Doane. and Creighton Blue Jays. Jays' football team was real until disbanding (I think 1940ish)
  5. Huge missed opportunity to make a big impact on a local charity. I don't understand the reasoning behind not distributing it. There's probably $1 million worth of 6" squares in there. I have to think that eventually it will get cut up. Just seems irresponsible not to use the opportunity. My wild guess, FieldTurf company contract. Refurbish turf, fresh dye, and big discount price like HS practice field
  6. I like black helmets time to time. One game per season. 2011 Terps' football uniforms especially helmets was horrendous. I thought photoshop joke but actually real. Nike Combat or Adidas?
  7. Hey, I used to live 1/2 block away, east 2nd street address and #1 customer, Barrel Bar & Grill, 3 blocks east or so. Also known as Duncan "Brick". Hastings is a perfect size IMO, not too small, not too large. I was responsible, basically in charge, for Queen City league (gorilla flag football) and YMCA league (basketball) from 1979 to 1981 (circa). I worked at the Barrel for 3 years or so, about 14 or so years ago. Small world. 1/2 pound grilled hamburger w/cheese. Delicious !!!

  9. Another 3 stars? I always said recruiting battles are mostly overrated (i.e. 5 stars Marlon Lucky) but I'm kinda worried. No 4 or 5 stars.....right now, Nebraska is rated #37.
  10. FieldTurf water IS required (wiki source) Thus I assumed irrigation system in T.O. field was already installed. Another point: The only advantage, Owens field surface is much better than T.O. field. IMO. I know, "STOP TRYING TO MAKE NATURAL GRASS HAPPEN....... IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN" (knapplc).
  11. I think fertilizer is cheap. My calculation per year: 57,600 sq ft (football field dimensions) x 8 applications (twice the applications according to Scott's company) divided by 5000 sq ft (one Scott's Southern Turf + Halt + Weed Killer bag) x $12 (wholesale price or else Lowe's off-season sale) = $1105.92. Right? (probably wrong!) And thousands of people including myself gladly volunteered groundskeeper work free of charge like mowing the grass, fertilizer drop spreaders, chalk stripes, etc. a.l.a. Hank Hill crew . How much does it cost for FieldTurf? Let me think now (grab my calculator)....... $380,000 divided by 7 years = $54,285 per year. Water cost? I have no idea. Perhaps Liquid gold? I know, just use Hawk's Field surface from Kentucky bluegrass to fakey turf. Save money!
  12. LOL. I know it. Next FieldTurf project, company engineers are trying to insert flubber derivatives, pending on NCAA gods. HeyBurke, I respect your opinion but is completely wrong spare time: Son of Flubber clip
  13. Surface temperature test: Air Temperature = 94 degrees Bermudagrass = 104 degrees (Bluegrass slightly lower temp) Field Turf = 165 degrees Coolplay = 130 degrees (as advertised) based on Turfgrass Science - Univ of Arkansas I admit I'm biased. Still fighting for natural grass.
  14. New Coolplay turf in Skelly Field (Tulsa). Good salesman pitch..... Coolplay - Final Product Check out ugly yellow stripes. Now 3-tones, dark green, green and yellow. Oh well.
  15. Old OU farts vaguely remember Sooners/Huskers rival but year after year, fading memories and eventually disappeared completely, like 2 or 3 years in the future. Remaining OU fans under 40 years old, Nebraska was just another team, i.e. Purdue, Maryland, Utah St, etc. Trust me. Blamed on Texass, DeLoss and puppet Beebe The only B1G disadvantage, long trip.
  16. Why do you feel that way? Pros outweigh any cons: Maintenance-free Reduces injury - NOT TRUE More consistent playing surface, especially in inclement weather - You know Lambeau Field, Mile High Stadium, Philly Eagles, Owen Field (OU), Heinz Field (Steelers), etc. all natural grass dang it. I hope natural grass replacement instead of fake and crappy smelly "turf" borrowed Apocalypse Now Natural grass, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of fresh grass in the morning, stains and soft surface. The smell, you know that natural odor......smelled like [sniffing, pondering] VICTORY.......
  17. Bonehead game: Huskers self-destructed, squandering a 17-0 lead with five turnovers in 2nd half. Fumbles, a couple of false starts (as usual ), drop passes and dumb red zone interception in end zone. What opposing team?
  18. All B1G home games are on BTN. Same for away games not picked up by other networks. not exactly true. Last year, a couple of B1G games was not broadcast events including BTN. Could be delayed games but not live. Any way, BTN is great, no more $$PPV !
  19. Not a true bonehead play but classified "oh come on now" defenders in Hail Mary pass against Gamecocks.
  20. I will plan to visit all BIG conference stadiums except Penn St, Rutgers and Terps (too far away) via my car. Previous "tours" or live games: Rose Bowl, LA Coliseum, Cotton Bowl, Big House, Kinnick (Iowa), Gaylord (OU), Lewis (OkieLite), Jones (TTech), both Kansas schools, Trice (ISU) and Notre Dame. The most disappointment, Rose Bowl and Notre Dame....all traditions, structures was crappy. Also Cotton Bowl.....basically falling a part and dirty. Surprise stadium IMO, Big House. In 1980 or so before press box expansion, all submerged except a few top row seats above ground level. In fact, I searched Ann Harbor campus and I said "where's the stadium?". Finally found it, kinda disguised, btw, no parking lots outside the stadium but BIG stadium! Alternate stadium..... "Big Hole". Kinnick was also semi-submerged, I think. My review......In Memorial stadium, west and east(now) stadiums was pretty damn good but north and south......eye sores. Next project, need to replace it.....like 2-deck structure.
  21. Keep alternate NU uniforms for last year. Of course, one game per season at home. Only minor change (IMO), eliminate jersey names. The best, black helmets....I like it I also like Michigan Wolverines alt uniforms. UM NU
  22. Any chance to broadcast South Dakota St vs. Huskers without PPV? Spring game - BTN Wyoming - BTN S.Miss - BTN UCLA - ABC assuming nationwide SDSU - ??? . . Iowa - ABC assuming nationwide So far 11:00 kickoff times: UCLA, Illini and Iowa, all at home. I like 11:00
  23. Oh I hope so because potential conflict, At the same time, 11 o'clock, Tulsa vs. OU at ABC.
