Second Mile - Pimping Young Boys to Prominent Donors
Comish replied to Landomatic's topic in The Big Ten
Yep. Paterno is just the first of many to fall. Boosters, police, politicians. This has just begun. This is starting to rival the Franklin Sex Scandal out of Omaha. Didn't the Franklin sex scandal involve Boys Town!? I am not highly familiar with the incident...but I have heard some things.... The Franklin Credit Union scandal was about embezzlement. L. King had a thing for young boys and they told a grand jury that King "pimped" them out to prominent politicians. The facts were deemed false and 2 of the kids were indicted for perjury. I too ,was reminded of the Franklin Scandal. I remember reading the book by John DeCamp at the time. One of the tidbits was his introduction to the book where he stated..............(I'm paraphrasing here).........something along the lines of...."I'm naming names, times, places and coverups. IF, my facts are not true...........why has no one filed slander and libel suits against me".....? Then, of course, you had the investigator Gary Coridori killed in a suspicious plane crash on the way back from the All-Star game along with his son. That also was SO big in it's implications that it was believed to be TOO preposterous (claims that boys were being ferreted to European countries for orgies, etc with wealthy aristocrats, etc. The whole enormity of the charges was mindblowing.) I have no idea of the veracity of any of the charges or how it settled down in the public's mind, but the allegations this morning about the Second Mile pimping, etc...............Wow...........just brought back memories. -
And more Frankins would be a good thing. If you want to ruin this country. And stealing a seat is not a good thing no matter how noble the cause. Al Frankin is one of the few good guys in the Senate, along with Sherrod Brown and the two guys from my state. It was too bad that Norm Coleman pulled a Sore/Loserman and dragged his lost election through the courts. You mean THIS Al Frankin..............?? http://www.frugal-ca...s-show-convicte

Fans thoughts on Joe Paterno coaching on Saturday...
Comish replied to TheMatador's topic in The Big Ten
I won't be surprised if the Board meeting tonight takes charge and tells him he is done now. That will be the first indication that the institution is more important than any individual and/or personal legacy. -
NU chancellor Perlman offers statement on PSU scandal
Comish replied to cHUSKERis's topic in The Big Ten
Someone once opined that one should speak only if he could improve on the silence...................... Obviously, Perlman fails to appreciate this guidance............ -
Fans thoughts on Joe Paterno coaching on Saturday...
Comish replied to TheMatador's topic in The Big Ten
I thought the fact that he was more worried about the image of his program than protecting innocent children from a monster very clearly showed where his priorities are. EXACTLY.............. -
I second that...!!

I believe I also read that he is so "N" that he is working hard to help recruit some undecideds.....................

She does want most things run by the government.................... She also believes she created the "intellectual property" of the OWS............. Give me a break..................

According to today's paper.............he had 583 yards of total offense and accounted for 6 TD's last week in a win....... (includes 334 yards rushing on 15 carries for 4 scores)

Especially since at the time, these players were not involved with PSU, Paterno, or Sandusky. What a terrible way for players to end their careers at Penn State with probably the ugliest scandal ever to hit sports controlling the media. Not only will it taint Senior day.................the legacy effect will define their careers there as they will be forever inextricably linked to the timing of the scandal.......

Which would be a terminable offense if I were his boss. That is a very bold, and a very unwise, move by Paterno. Nothing he has to say right now can be of any benefit to anyone. This needs to go to trial. He'll have ample time to tell his side of the story at that point. I cannot imagine what he has to say that is worth taking this step. I'm resigning Joe's son Scott just told Foxnews in philly that his dad will be on the sideline Sat. vs Nebraska If he is still employed and is at the game...............no way is he on the sideline as a target and/or reminder....... If he is still employed and is at the game...............he will be in the pressbox.........

SARCASM................ah, you might want to look it up Puegot..............

With the economy, the worst may be yet to come

And yet our current administration chooses to follow the European model as a recipe for our future............... -
So does JoePa "retire" now with the scandal coming out?
Comish replied to ensanehusker's topic in The Big Ten
I predict Saturday will be his last ever game at the Penn St stadium..................... And, I wonder if that will be a motivator or a downer for their team vs. us....................?? -
I don't see it as "isolationist" to not not be occupying and bombing several nations, and to have several hundred military bases all over the world. Paul (from what I recall) has called for constructive engagement with the rest of the world, not a retreat from it. He's open about withdrawing from NATO and the UN. Which would really hurt our influence on the world stage. I just hope Cain drops out...knock on wood. Yosarian........................Good to see you posting over here !!............(I'm a relative newbie here after the shutdown at the old joint)...............

Yeah this is crazy - To be fair Penn State quickly banned Sandusky from campus yesterday. After this thing really picked up. To be fair Penn State quickly banned Sandusky from campus yesterday............???? Ahhh.......................waaaaaay too little........................waaaaaaaay too late.............. I have no desire to see JoPa lose his legacy but the fact remains that he didn't act or respond the way he NEEDED to............ Can you really believe ANY other coach would be getting the benefit of the doubt for something so hideous..??
-
Thanks for posting the detail.......... Hopefully, it will make us all take a moment to put the experience (and/or lack of it) into perspective............

I could live with a shot put to Turner and let him make a play................ops................scratch that............he's not on the field.....................
-
Where did you hear that rumor? There are 2-3 games that would get picked before this...and its already been announced that its at the Stanford - Oregon game anyhow. Right................Gameday has been announced at Cardinal/Duck.............

I think it's a fair comparison..................the leagues are different, but so are the athletes within them.................. -
Ha, that quote has been relevant since Beebe emerged from the swamp...................
